Meh, kinda mid game, 2nd one is better. Not bad if on sale, performs MUCH better using Keyboard & Mouse

In short — this isn’t just racing. It’s chaos on wheels. It’s destruction, physics gone wild, and launching your driver through the windshield like a human cannonball. 😄
🎯 What I liked:
Top-tier physics! Every crash, bump, and spin feels brutal. Cars break apart like LEGO when you slam into something.
Driver launch mini-games — absolute classics. High jump, bowling, long jump… stupidly fun for hours.
The soundtrack slaps. Rock-heavy, full of energy — fits the vibe of the game perfectly.
Destructible environments — fences, barrels, tires... everything can and will be smashed. It really sells the underground demolition-racing feel.
⚠️ What didn’t land:
The physics can get a little too unpredictable. Sometimes a random bump sends you flying off track.
AI is hit or miss — either hilariously dumb or suddenly turns into a Formula 1 pro.
Not a huge variety of cars or upgrades compared to later games.
🎮 But overall — FlatOut is still a legend. This isn’t just nostalgia; it’s a pure example of how to make chaotic, fun, no-nonsense arcade racing. Perfect when you want to turn your brain off and just smash things at high speed.
Recommended if you like:
arcade racers with destruction physics,
wacky driver-launching mini-games,
gritty early 2000s vibes.
Chaos, carnage, and pure fun — everything you need for a perfect FlatOut evening.

loved this game on PS2. just plain, good ol' simple fun, and with ragdolls.

I think this is the game I remember playing as a kid, though the graphics have been updated in this version, I wish to play it as it was when I first played it back around 2005 or whenever when my family got it on a cd. Still very enjoyable and an extremely fun game!

Was looking for a generic racing game to scratch that specific itch, and this one definitely hit that spot.
Car goes move, upgrade car, car gets faster, make me happeh! car also explode into lotsa bits but still move, also impressive and also makes me happeh.
2005 single player game also somehow still has 2025 updates?! THAT IS INSANE. That in itself deserves an award. 👍

It starts of as an arcade rally cross but towards the end , it became an hardcore rally cross simulation where every mistake you make is deadly. Like you could be the 1st and have half a mile advantage but you stumble over a stone on the ground and it's all over for you. Now you are half a mile behind the last racer. You get caught in any foreign object on the track and it sticks to you like glue. You step on the gas and the engine revs to full speed for 10-20 seconds but you're not going anywhere.

I played the crap out of this on PS2 when I was a kid. When I saw Steam had it I downloaded it right away. I could tell that the game wasn't working well on the PC. The just updated the game and man did it make a huge difference. I can now enjoy it all over again. Thanks for the update! If you want to feel like you are back in middle school again then download this and start playing! This game is more or less what Wreckfest based their game off of.

This game is super fun simple and i think it holds up fairly well to time maybe its just the nostalgia but the graphics are surprisingly good for an 04' game
