Decent game, but everything felt familiar from the first game, not like a new game.

This game is a blast! I really liked building up my town as I played through the dungeons. The only complaint I have is that after you finish the town and get a couple chars to NG+1 I didnt really find much incentive to keep going.
The fun little incremental upgrades you get from the town fall off long before I wish they did (lookin at you bonfire) and personally I dislike the over dependence on shadow curse in later stages of the game.
But I still got a good 30+ hours of the game and really enjoyed the game!

At the moment, I cannot recommend the game due to some technical issues with the game's memory management.
Long story short, the game's memory usage is all over the place and some part of the game seems to be using cache in a way which can result in memory leaks, for some users, or just the game crashing once it hits a certain amount of RAM usage and "fail" to properly clear its memory allocation.
I also noticed some issues with the background music that shows that the memory allocation of the audio isn't managed properly. (It also resulted in the background music layers to be desync which sounded horrible and forced me to set the music volume to 0.)

Fun up to New Game +1, worth a good number of hours. Sadly fewer and fewer strategies and playstyles become valid past NG+1, to the point armor and resistances become invalidated entirely and it is extremely difficult to make anything but spell power builds deal reasonable DPS, but to the end of NG+1 it remains quite fun.

If you liked the first game, you'll like this one. Brings more variety than the first game in almost every way except for # of classes (for now).

17.5 hours doesn't feel like a lot when you enjoy a game, but I remember this one feeling like a chore at some point. Very repetitive gameplay and unrewarding metaprogression that feels slowed down to force you to play more of the same thing over and over. NG+ didn't promise anything fun or really different, just augmented numbers. This is based on solo gameplay, based on the other reviews it seems better enjoyed with lower expectations and other people.

While the core gameplay loop is fun for a little bit, it quickly becomes stale once you realize that the game is, at its core, a pure grindfest with not much else to it. There's not much content in the game at all, and most of the progression is just straight metaprogression (which is ultimately necessary to beat the bosses, because when you encounter a new boss, you're usually way too weak to really do anything - and the next time you get to it, you usually steamroll it.)
This is paired with the fact that when you beat the extremely short amount of content in the game and clear the final boss, you unlock "New Game Plus 1", which adds 5 levels and of course, sets you back at the start. That's it. There's not much else. The devs clearly intended for you to just play the same content over and over, and on multiple characters, because there's achievements for level 60 in *all* characters - which there are 7 total, and for each NG+ cycle adding 5 levels on the base max level 20, makes for 7*8 = 56 clears of the game, at LEAST, to get to max level with all characters. Fifty fucking six.
What I don't understand is - why. They clearly planned for this, so why do that instead of making a more fleshed out game with actual content and value?
