This game was a real shot in the dark when I played it, but it's been a blast! I cannot wait to see what comes in the future. With a mix of that lethal like extraction, thematically spooky enemies, FTL style ship combat, custom subs / modules, and engaging coop; its been a blast! I didn't think so many different concepts would fit into a sub game, but they work well. Something at first we noticed in MP was that all players look the same with no nametags; but that appears to be purposeful. You have to communicate with one another over distance with items or gestures because some of the enemies look like other players and it can catch you off guard if your not careful; either by not attacking an enemy right away, or by accidentally attacking a friendly. All in all I would definately recommend if you're looking for your next coop outing with a few friends :)

Lets just get right to the point, This is a great game, if you like underwater horror submersible type of games with lethal company vibes, your gonna like this game, its not extremely tedious and hard. Comes with a difficulty selection. And even if you fail, completing certain things will allow you to get better starting submarines. It's not super scary of a game in my personal tastes, I got a good few jumps here and there but its not frequent once you know what to expect. the combat system may SEEM tricky and confusing, but take a few goes at it against some enemy ships and you'll understand the systems quite well. it almost reminds me of Subnautica in terms of scare factor, once you learn most of the creatures and how they work they aren't super scary, but it doesn't take away from the experience either. My only issues is with the arcade machines at the start before you start a round. One of the games completely broke for me and I was always given impossible wire paths and couldn't ever make a possible connection, (tried this like for 30 rounds so its definitely glitched for me) - Audio in the game, being the proximity chat CAN and usually WILL break and stop working once you do a (restart game) if you all die or host does so. Simply restarting the lobby from the main menu fixes this. - and the map layouts are very small usually and can be memorized. As a early access game this is fine though, and I do expect to see more map layouts and expansions later on. especially for a game like this. One small detail is that currently the game is also very short, especially if your focused on getting to each station. (takes like 30-45 minutes) I'd personally like to see a system where the game is much longer with more stations but in turn give us a lives system where if all players die you get another 1-2 attempts with some kind of setback being reduced max hp or something like that. In total a very solid 8/10 game that will have plenty of room to grow and become much greater.

This game has a staggering amount of potential. The mixture of gameplay from FTL and Lethal Company is a surprisingly refreshing combination. The only thing holding this game back from a 10/10 is that the blocking for melee weapons just doesn't work half the time. This game is one to watch for sure.

I don't understand why all the positive reviews, its's quite misleading for those that want to get the game with the wrong idea. There is a ton of things which is expected from an early access. - The submarine combat is like faster than light which is quite interesting. However, the exploration is so boring. Feels like a complete waste of time exploring outposts. There's nothing interesting to do in them. The combat is almost non-existent when exploring outposts.

UPDATE: I got the 1k points for the stampers achievement so I can finally play the game proper. It's actually really fun, kinda reminiscent of Barotrauma but in first person and not nearly as complex/fleshed out. I can't wait for an endless mode, or a campaign part 2, it's a really fun gameplay loop. (I stand by my previous statement on that I HATE the stampers "minigame" I almost blew me head "smoove off" because of it) [strike]Negative review SOLELY because of the Stampers minigame & achievement. Either rework it, or remove it and I'll update my review[/strike]

The game itself is very fun. But, please for the love of it all, fix the multiplayer freezing. We've played the same run 19 times and its getting a bit old... not being able to keep and upgraded sub is quite annoying.

I don't see the difference between the demo I played before the release and what I paid for. I waited some months before making my review to maybe see big changes but alas. I played almost 99% at the hardest difficulty solo because otherwise I would just get handed a free win. It's trying to be Lethal Company a little bit with the outposts but that part of the game is really boring to the point I avoid it completely and the loot in general is really scarce so imo it's just not worth for the time you are wasting irl. The hand to hand combat is really bland and the gunplay is mediocre. Sometime a bomb will appear in an outpost and you will have to do a puzzle to defuse it but it's just confusing. Technically you need to make a path by rotating blocks, but the lines on the blocks don't line up with the path you are making so it doesn't make sense. Think about the puzzle in Bioshock you need to do to hack something, but the tubes don't line up with the path you are making. That's just bad, Idk what the developers were thinking honestly. The submarine combat is ok but it's always the same sh*t over and over. You destroy their weapons so they can't shoot then you destroy their pumps so they sink faster. The enemy crews are brain dead, they don't repair sh*t. The harpoon bay is broken as f*ck, it basically offer you projectiles you can spam non-stop for free and they reload really fast. At the highest difficulty, if your submarine sink you will notice most of the time it will be to that and if not, it's because you will have embraced the dark side before them. If you see a submarine with a harpoon bay, pray the dear lord they don't have several of them if you are underequiped because you will get f*cked in the as*. That and you can buy the workshop for the welding tool then sell the workshop because it's useless. You can put the welding tool in the starter locker and cramp your rooms close so that your weight doesn't matter and repair everything at the speed of light. You can get a room to eject yourself into enemy submarines but I didn't care about that part because the fps combat is lame anyway. I tried it with a friend in the demo but I died when I sank the other submarine from inside then I couldn't come back from death. I don't know what I did wrong honestly, it could be me being dumb. When you try to repair something in combat, if the submarine get hit, your screen shake and it can keep your aim off what you are repairing and restart the repair bar. If that happen while you repair a big hole with the wrench, you get f*cked on the spot. The holes can spawn behind lights and control panels, that's so cancerous because you will try to repair the hole but you will repair the panels instead. Combine that with the shaking it's even more annoying. A very mediocre experience and that's sad because I really wanted to like it. The potential is there but rn it's just not good enough.
Informational Stuff:
Traversing the map: FTL style exploration with outposts, events, shops, and fights Outposts: Scavanger style gameplay like REPO, Kletka or Lethal Company. Sometimes theres a bomb that you have to defuse to prevent flooding, sometimes its pre-flooded. High chance at money and loot, medium chance at death. A few different types of enemies with 2 main humanoid types being most common. You can also turn on gas lights by looking at them, or fix electric lights if you find the console. Shops: Spend your money to customize the size of your sub or what is in it, make it a maze, make rooms inaccessible, the options are up to you. Remember that you can happily run with rooms just for their passive buffs. Pick supplies off the ground if your moving rooms around, and out of the lockers in a room if your going to sell the room. Events: Chance at free loot or fights Ship Vs Ship combat: First person FTL. One person solves a puzzle to buff evasion, One person steers the ship to avoid mines and more evasion buffs, one person handles targeting and reloading, last person repairs the hull and pumps out water (if you have a pump, if not then you better get to a shop or an outpost). You can comfortably play with as few as 2, swapping tasks and focusing on what needs to get done at that moment. Ship HP doesn't exist, you only have to worry about how much water you have on board, and if there is too much, finding a way to stop yourself from drowning. The ship doesn't die till you are all dead so its fairly forgiving. (Low risk Low reward) First Person combat (boarding parties): glitch as hell and likely to get you killed without achieving much, but its a fun side option for when you decide enough is enough. Weapons are fair enough, but coming up surrounded by 4 people can be a little much in most cases. (High risk Slightly less low reward) Meta Progression: Unlock 5 ship types by completing different achievements as you play, none of them are overly difficult and the different ships are unique enough to keep things interesting. Death: Run around a rat, mocking your former crewmates while they cant hear you by rotating on their asses. Be revived for free in outposts (randomly within the outpost), or at cost at stores. Either way you will leave all your gear with your corpse, and wont even get a complimentary wrench. Story: Exists, gets you buy, is fun to read the logs when you have time. Expect your emergent story telling to be the focus though.
Personal Opinion:
Aside from the boarding parties, game is fairly bug free considering its Early Access status. 10$ is a fair price point for it's current state, and I hope to see more that gets me excited as time goes on. If the devs add in more enemy veriety, fix up the boarding parties, maybe a few more area types such as caves to explore, a bit more diversity in events (like people asking for more than just fuel) and maybe even a few more systems and I would pay 30$. Heck if they go HAM and add in tons of stuff I might even go higher than that. Either way though, at the current price point with the current content Its a damn fine recomendation from me.
