Basic entry level wargame - clunky/unpolished - outdated graphical presentation - no sounds played when units are in combat make for a dull experience - avoid !

I liked the easy play, rules and counters that remind me of old wargames, it has a low learning curve, good purchase on discount

I bought "Prochorovka: Armor at Kursk" by Stephen V. Cole around 1980, and I still have it. I cannot complete a scenario, because the game just hangs, although it can scroll. So I'm sad about that, every hex on the map is there, every unit exactly the same, but I suppose I get a refund.
The odd thing is that the game doesn't focus on the current unit in the AI phase, so you don't know what happened. You can't zoom out.
So that is a pity, it didn't have to be up to modern standards, but it did need to work..

If by any chance you are looking for a straight forward tradicional wargame, without having to read 20+ pages of rules, this game might be for you.
The game has all the essentials that old school wargames have, with the included fun factor. Just take five minutes to read the help menu and your on your way. Not that being of easy gameplay, means that it will be easy to have a victory in your hands! Plan ahead before you move (no undo option) and move wisely! With some thinking and a bit of dice luck, you just might pull it off!
Overall it´s fun and a challenge to play without brainstorming you with options or rules. Just plan and move chits, just like you always enjoyed to do. A nice addition to Steam and my collection!

Enjoyable entry level hex grid wargame. Documentation is just adequate but steam community guide helps. Not very accurate historically but fun to play. Only has Russian AI; would be nice to have German too. Recommended for beginners but not hard core fans.

This is a gem of a little game. If you're an old time war gamer like me who enjoys board war games then you will enjoy this. It's very comparable to an old, low-complexity Avalon Hill or SPI game, the kind you'd play from begining to end in an afternoon or evening with a freind. Thnk in terms of Afrika Korps or Battle of the Bulge. At this time you can only play against Russian A/I. If you want to play as the Russians you have to play solitair or against another human. I believe there are plans, according to the developer, to add a German A/I in the future. The developer is just one guy and is very approachable by email. He has a simple but informative web sight at yobowargames.com where you will find a free downloadable game (but with no A/I) and a link to his blog where he frequently posts information about his design philosophy and progress on his games. Anyway, he just started up and I like supporting new, independant developers - especially war gamers. The game isn't that expensive and I definately feel I got my money's worth.

Love these types of games and I tend to want to play WWII Squad Leader Style vs. RTS click fest. The graphics on the counters and the maps are fantastic! Prefer this style over NATO symbols. Only improvement is to be able to change from one attack to another without getting locked into the attach and cant get out and move to another unit counter if I change my mind. Keep up the Great work and I look forward to Korsun next!

Game keeps crashing, havent been able to play through a scenario. Hopefully this is still beta. The ability to unselect a battle after checking odds need to be there and currently isnt - once you click on an enemy you are commited! That needs to be fixed. Also during the enemy turn the screen should center on the battle otherwise you have to click attack for the enemy and you have no clue what unit it is attacking.
Other that these bugs I would love the game when it is fixed and would welcome seeing others like this old school chit and hex wargames on a simple level. I love them(the simpler ones). Could never get into anything overxomplex like Gary Grisby's games. We need more of these kind of games!
So thumbs down for now because of all the bugs. Will gladly thumb up when all are fixed.

Needs lots of work to become complete and worthy of a great recommendation. Only in very short time did I review this game, however some things were very clear to summarize:
1. This is a work in progress.
2. Potential to be a great 'boardgame' type game with a history behind it.
3. Graphics are okay EXCEPTING, the non-stop flashing of unit when selected, this should at the least be optional.
4. Need a mini-map to see overall forces.
5. The war calculations seem to be mature and correct for the units involved - realistic.
6. Need an Option Screen to adjust things and give customer some choices about presentation.
7. Definitely has my interest and I'm rooting for the developer to polish this up and get it right.

while i spend most of my time testing games now days, i still enjoy playing them in my own time, so this caught my eye once a friend had posted it on there wishlist, plays like almost any war game you own, so simple to pick up and play, manual is in game, so again, all is there at hand if and when needed, programmed in Java, it's a quick game as in it loads in an instance, turns are rapid, but this isn't to say it's a short game, that's your playstyle and how you wish to play it, works on windows 10 with nothing needed straight out of the box as they say, so simple to setup and install and play, so a bonus.
game play is phased based, so you move, then once all your units have moved, you enter a combat phase, then once done, you either swap seats and let your mate play, or later on it's single player so you can one day play against the AI, as it's EA, not everything is in at the start, but what's in now puts many AAA titles to shame, eg it works, it's stable and it's fun and plays well on release as it's only been out a day 10th March 2017.
game play wise, it's like more than a few others i already own, but while it looks a simple type game, it has some depth, but as it's EA and atm no AI, it's impossiable to also comment on what it's like or will be like later on, so that's for a updated review when the times comes.
would i recommned it?
as it is atm, and i'm really only a game tester, who dislikes online games btw, and doesn't own or play any board games any longer, but loves a good war game, from any period in history, even without single player in atm, it's a YES.
iv'e uploaded 20 odd screenshots and there will be more, so make your own mind up, and support the war game makers, as we all know, there isn't that many left and those who are still doing them, are getting older, and over time, there will be ever less, at this price, it's a bargin and well worth double the price for the value and time it will give you for another good war game that's been done well.
