Just finished the early access stuff and, wow. Way scarier than I could have anticipated going in. Very atmospheric and the sound design does a good job of keeping you on your toes. Looking forward to more!

I love the dungeon nightmare series and just released an EDM called 'Lost In A Nightmare" on my YouTube channel, The Animatronic Girl Entertainment. You can also find the first 2 playthrough parts for the game. It's intense atmosphere and the real world to nightmare tranferance is epic, The monsters are amzing and new to the game as wll as ourold friend bloody mary, Bloody Mary, BLOODY MARY!!! XD

A fitting and wonderful addition to the series. The Dungeon Nightmare titles are in my top list every time someone asks me about horror games they should try and this one is no different. It has a deeper story, improved graphics, terrifying scares, and moments that make your hand leave your keyboard entirely. If I were to describe it in a single statement it would be "Holy crap on a crumpet, batman". Thats how awesome it is. Im looking forward to any updates and am excited to be terrified again once I change my pants.

Ok visuals. Really bad sounds (get a photo on a table you will see how it sounds like you pulled a brick on the asphalt). Character is slower than a turtle when walking but moving his head is so fast when looking around that it provoke motion sickness... I played with a controller since it is mentioned fully supported. It seems you can arrange that from the menu, but the menu is not accessible from the game (or I did not find how?) even by pressing the esc key (full controller support does not permit to do what esc key does...). So, you need to quit the game using esc, adjust your controls and restart the game from a check point... annoying... especially when you need to repeat the operation to really adjust the controls the way it is fine for you... Atmosphere in the house is ok and some of the things you can read here and there in books feels promising. However, most happen in dungeons and when the jump scares chain is ending, you are rushed by some monsters it seems you cannot fight... The only crucifix I have was doing nothing. Even not slowing the bully creature. So you die and start again in the first room of a dungeon. Goal seems to do a maximum of things, exploring and looting objects while the monster is not around and do not see you. When it does, then it is over, you will not really escape. I also do not get why, from a haunted house, I am projected into dungeons. All should happen in the house, garden, streets... following the stories you can read by hanging around the different rooms. I know dungeons is in the title but then, why starting in a haunted house with a very ghost like atmosphere and which is promising something else,,, The house is the best part. It is more puzzle oriented with some nice events. But unfortunately, you don't stay in there... If controls were better, movements more fluent, I would have given a longer try. But in the current state, it is more tiring than scary. I am going to wait for the final release which is announced to be this year 2021. Then I'll give another try and see if things were improved in between. I will also perhaps update my reviews if it changes for the better, In the current state, I can only recommend to, at least, wait for the end of the early.

As someone who liked the first two Dungeon Nightmare games, this was a complete let down. Either I'm extremely bad at this game, or they just made it so stupid. I have about 6 things chasing me all at once and I don't even have a chance to light a candle. If I wanted to play a game where I run in circles for over an hour just so I don't die, I'd buy a track game. I can't even express the irritation this game gives me. All I can say is, I'm glad I only spent $1.50 on this garbage.

Part 2 (horror dungeon footage) https://youtu.be/ZycKPYMArfg I had been dying for a good dungeon crawler for a while now. When I saw this one coming out in the upcoming games list, it was an instant wishlist and purchase as soon as it dropped. Well, this isn't exactly what I expected, but man do I not regret my decision. Part 1 (puzzle footage) https://youtu.be/-kdDaabtw-k Ergastulum is an odd style game in that it seems to tread between an adventure puzzle game a la Myst, then thrust you into a survival horror style dungeon crawler where you need to acquire souls and survive the nightmarish landscapes in a very Dark Souls manner. The Christian overtones laced with lucid dreaming and mythology leads to a very jarring experience in all the right ways. As it stands I have only finished the first act, but the dungeon area there alone had me on edge the whole time. The idea of being helpless with only a crucifix and a candle to light your way makes most decisions vastly important in your quest to find souls and advance the story. It also led to one of the incredibly rare times a jump scare in a game genuinely made me jump so abruptly it gave me a headache (granted it was partly my fault I got startled but it still got me). Ergastulum is kind of hard to explain. It blends two different atmospheres together incredibly well, creating one of the most unique games I've played in a long while. Yes, it's early access and has some problems. Characters clip through the wall, effects disappear based on where you look, and I got stuck at one point unable to move until I closed the door I opened that locked me in place. But the overall product (from what I've played so far) has been immensely enjoyable and I cannot recomend checking this one out enough. NOTE - the link/video above is only the first half of act one, which is the puzzle aspect in the house. The next video will show off the first dungeon. I am including a link below to the Twitch vod that has both parts of act one unedited. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/793145038

hmm... no updates since 2021?? Either the K. Monkey is hard at work the last 3 years at getting this game completed, or it has been abandoned. Developers who abandon their early access games only hurts legit devs who really want feedback during early access to provide an amazing game (ex. Baldur's Gate 3)

Abandoned game to be forever stuck in Early Access with no further updates. I got it dirt cheap on sale and it is solid enough, but I won't suggest a dead game.

The game does not seem that bad. The only question here is if the dev(s) actually abandoned the project and it will take ages to get out of early access that way. Buy at your own risk.
