[h1]What it is...is Not Enough[/h1] This one was an odd duck, as least in the VN genre. It can be best summed up as a tale of what [u]Ascendant Hearts[/u] is and is not. It is a fantasy setting. It is not an RPG. It is an Issekai plot. It is not a power fantasy. It is a patchable game for some NSFW elements. It is not an Eroge. It is a Visual Novel. But, ultimately and unfortunately, for all the things that it is not, it is not a good game. Anything else after this truth that could be posted would be merely guilding this interesting, but saddening lily. Side note: Because I mentioned it, I feel duty-bound to advise the reader of a bug associated with the NSFW patch; Appling said patch will have the unfourtnate side-effect of COMPLETELY FILLING the scene Gallery. So watch out for that.

The constant lampshading of fantasy tropes as accepted rules of the universe gets old really fast. And the fact that the characters simply refuse to accept the fact that someone does not understand their systems and can't figure out what the main character should and should not know is even worse (despite the fact that nearly everything he doesn't know is attributed to stuff the gods do for the convenience of humanity). The writers rely on this one joke for literally the entire game and are so busy focusing on that that it feels like we end up missing a lot of chances for characters to actually develop any sort of chemistry with each other.

Ascendant Hearts is a visual novel that was developed by a very small team through a crowfunding effort. The premise of the story is good and funny - the protagonist is someone "from the real world" who somehow ends up in a RPG fairy tale, with all the cliches and stereotypes associated with them to boot. The game has multiple endings, and is fairly long for the cost, around 15-20 hours of story. However, the main driving plot and the story dialogue and text in general has an unpolished feel, not surprising given the very small team that is behind the game. Decent artwork and backgrounds. However, there is not a lot of CGs and character poses and expressions. Music is generic outsourced music that, while nice enough to listen to, lacks oomph and does not exactly fit the fantasy medieval theme of the story. No voice acting as well. Interface leaves a little to be desired. History has to be acessed via the menu, cannot jump back, no buttons in the screen, etc. Overall, a good enough visual novel, and a good effort by the fledging developing team. 7/10

We've all experienced games that have abrupt endings that look like the studio ran out of time or money.  This game is the exact opposite; it has fully flushed-out storylines that will leave you feeling satisfied. I've also played Eternal Radiance (by the same developer), and I recommend that game very highly as well.  In fact, it's the reason why I bought this game.  I look forward to additional titles from Visualnoveler.

This is a great and fun VN not like many of the cheap crap ones you find flooding Steam. I absolutely love stories of a MC transported to a new magical world surrounded by girls this is almost as good as PixelFade's Crystalline Pros The story is entertaining Characters are likeable Beautiful art Nice Music Cons It was so fun it feels short left longing for more Didn't enjoy the ending as much as the story itself Missing a Harem Ending route Ending Spoilerish [spoiler] Wish there was an option to choose to love Mira [/spoiler] Patch is ONLY nudity CG not any added sexual scenes All in all I would still recommend this game I'd even go as far as giving it an 8/10 well worth it's price

I played this game briefly (due to a lack of time AUGH!) and my impressions of this game is EXCELLENT. The character designs are A. The script is B (depending on whether you like the jokes) with few grammatical errors; the script is clearly written by a native English speaker rather than an overseas product with poor Google translation (: . I paid 8 bucks for the game and it's not a bad price for the product. The options (A+) include changing between windowed and full screen, adjustment for sound volume, and text speed plus skipping. The game can be saved an any point (YAY!). There is a quick save and a quick load function. Game devs also provide plenty of slots for normal saves, too. Probably the best feature is the CG gallery. The patch is available from the publisher's website at no cost and works. Overall, Ascendant Hearts is a very polished game and highly recommended to visual novel fans.

This is a decent if short "transported to another world" / isekai visual novel. The characters are all very likable and you're given a fair amount of choice throughout the game. The choices you make do make impact throughout the game which is very nice. For example, you can't just snub off everyone then confess to them expecting them to suddenly fall for you in return. Great change of pace. The game is arounnd ~4 hours if you go for all the achievements. I got this when it was discounted for $8 which is a good pricing for a VN with decent branching to this extent. No ground breaking story break offs but still nice. The art is pleasing to the eye and though the cg count isn't too high, what's there is nice. The only real low points are the climax and the ending. After humorously poking at cliches for a majority of the story, it quickly ends on a big cliche that just doesn't feel satisfying. On that point however, the story throughout and character dialogue was extremely enjoyable. Though its impact will mainly be for those that are at least aware of standard RPG tropes. Overall, an enjoyable read that I found worth and got a smile out of.

Heads up to those solely lookin for scenes like those in Nekopara or just straight up hentai action ~~~There are none (closest is a couple borderline nudity tease pics) -Good story to play btw though, excellent rpg feel
