One of the first games i had for PC to which i spend countless hours creating a mission whereby people get into a helicopter, travel for 10 minutes, then get shot as soon as they got out. I loved it, my friends not so much :)

I had a lot of fun with this game when I was growing up and it is nothing short of a cult classic. It's really cool to see it available for Linux, but it being a separate store item is quite annoying.

A classic among war simulators and an exceptionally good one. Quite realistic also and an unrivaled replayability

Pro's:
Performance just like on Windows, maybe better (don't know about Mac);
Works fine with opensource drivers, even with nouveau (on Linux);
This is not Wine port;
Many aspect ratio settings, inc. triple head 12:3, 16:3, 24:5.
Con's:
Not working online multiplayer, just LAN;
Not included "Red Hammer" campaign (why?).
Thanks to Bohemia for supporting Linux! Wish we all see more of your great games on Linux in the future!

I bought this game several months ago. Now it's on sale and I wanted to say that I really appreciate the support and I don't mind separated versions for Mac/Linux at all.
As a Linux-exclusive gamer I would even prefer to have an option to buy separated Mac/Linux versions of all games.
Good game, good port.

First off: This is the good old "Operation Flashpoint"
Great game and great port.
This game brings back so many great memories of the time spend in this game.
At first I was pretty blown away by the bad graphics but as soons as you hit up the campaign and sound, the fun starts again.
Definetely worth the 4€.

Yesss! Had this already in my library and remember trying to run it on Wine, few years ago, with control and texture problems.
This port looks good, tested few mins of the campaign, 120Hz @1080p CPU at 1/4 usage and GPU at 46 C.
Enjoyed the intro with a big smile for the nth time :)
Thank you Valve, thank you VP and thank you Bohemia.

What a classic!
It comes with the issues of the original:

missions/scripts are not super-solid ... sometimes helicopters crash, tanks get stuck, etc.pp.

the UI is far from polished

creating/editing missions is time-consuming

it looks outdated

etc.pp.
BUT, it also comes with all the good stuff:

two campaigns with a lot of different missions and funny (as in retro-fun ;) ) cut-scenes

no mission will ever play exactly the same

big islands with forests, hills and towns (one can navigate inside of buildings)

one can drive cars, trucks, armoured vehicles (tanks!!) ^_^

one can fly helicopters (Hind, Apache, Mi-17, Cobra, ...) and airplanes (not too much fun IMHO)

a complex editor to design your own (scriptable) missions
PS: I am happy to pay a (small) price for the Linux-port - the Summer-Sale was a no-brainer. The performance is good.... and what other games allows you to fly the Hind or Apache??? :)
PPS: Looking for a retro single-player FPS-experience I have not tested Multiplayer yet.

Game is awesome. But they shouldn't make us pay for one game twice. I bought Windows version so I should have automatically Linux version. It's not okay.

I got this game for 3 reasons:

1 To show devs and publishers that porting games to linux is profitable.

2 To show devs and publishers that there is a market for old, cult or classic games in linux.

3 To send Bohemia a message: Fully support ARMA III for linux. I really want to get that, but I won't spend my money in a experimental port that might be droped. 2022 EDIT: Well, this didn't turn out so good, I did get ARMA 3 and it runs great on Linux via Proton. So thanks Wine, Proton and CrossOver communities, thanks for nothing Bohemia.
Other than that, what can I say. This is a cult, genre defining game. I played Operation Flashpoint back in the day and loved it, ARMA is about the same. Gameplay wise is worth playing, but the game has aged and nowdays I've seen better textures in voxel games. Deffinitely worth a buy imo, if you like war simulators or retro games.
