The original Cat Quest game is a true delight in every way. I loved the art style, combat, exploration, and bosses. Had some really tough achievements too.

While a very short game, I'd say this is worth playing. It's very basic mechanics wise and it reminded me of retro action rpgs but with more QOL and a more modern design.

I bought this game on a whim during a sale because it looked cute and I was honestly really surprised by how much fun it was, it is very simple but there is some surprising difficulty to it at least in the side content which there's a lot of, the main story if you focus on it is actually pretty short. It is definitely the weakest of the series but it setups a lot for the other games. I would recommend it, because it's still a lot of fun and it's cool to see the games get better and better.

Such a simple, even primitive game — but what a catptivating world. I never thought simple wordplay could make such a big difference, but puns like “pawrtner,” “purrfect,” and even “santa claw” are what make this game so cute and special. On top of that, the humor is everywhere — in the dialogue, story, quest plots, and even pranks from the developers. Overall, it’s a fantastic time-killer, especially on the Steam Deck.

Cute game, recommend buying it on sale. Not super riveting or challenging of a game, but very cozy to play. I have more hours on Switch which is why I only have 2 hours on Steam.

Catrim. Do you like cats? Do you like Skyrim? Are you tired of AAA games being priced at $70+? This game is not $70. I have as many hours in this as I'd probably have gotten out of God of War. But this is charming, and actually challenging.

How does this game has such good reviews? Like... it seems like every single person loves this and the it feels... 'nintendo hard' it's a cute zelda style cat game.. and yet enemies feel like I'm always a couple mistakes away from instant death. I played regularly for a while, did the quests at or under my level kept getting told I probably wasn't prepared for the next fight :/ only to have over leveled by like 10 levels. I invested in equipment, which uses kind of a terrible gacha mechanic so you just spam hopping to get the items you actually use to level up, and also leveled up my spells and it honestly doesn't feel like it made me end fights sooner but no matter where I changed my focus it still felt like I was only ever a couple hits away from death so why bother putting anything in health or armor when raw damage will end fights, and you just need to not make mistakes. It just ended up being not fun, I ended up using cheat engine [yes in a single play game] to hack the gold and just abuse the gacha mechanics and get super OP items to experience the game... and you know what my experience was... it made no difference... like I don't know if it's just some silly scaling happening or if this is just by design? I really want to like this game and I just can't really bring myself to do that it's just frustrating instead of fun, so I'm gonna set it down and walk away, I was looking forward to playing through the series because it looked cute.

A short but really fun game. The puns almost always hit their mark and the theme is consistently on point and enjoyable throughout. All the aspects of the game match the other aspects well. The game doesn't try to be anything it isn't which makes for a really charming game.
A quirky sword and sorcery adventure in a world occupied by pun loving cats.
Cat Quest is a lightweight action rpg game that really hones the time-tested truism that everything is better with cats. The game follows a young hero, chosen by fate, to rid the land of Felingrad from the evil tyrant Darkoths rule of terror with the power of magical dragons, or something.. On your mighty quest you are accompanied by a cute cat-spirit/demon that acts as your guide while exploring tombs, grottoes and forests. On your adventure you find weapons, armour, strange abilities and spells that aid you in your fight for justice and many twists and turns await in the vast sprawling open world. So basically a weird deconstruction of Skyrim where everything is utterly whimsical and everyone is khajiit.. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3368445025 Cat Quest is at its core a light weight arcade action rpg where the gameplay is basically hitting stuff in the head with your chosen weapon while dodgerolling away from harm's way all while progressing your quest on a pseudolinear path. The quests are fairly straightforward in the way of “go there, bash in the head of this”, but the writing is clever, albeit a tad heavy on the various cat-puns. The gameplay is serviceable on the action adventure part with different types of monsters of different levels opposing you in different areas leading to a natural progression across the world. However, the difficulty is a bit odd with the scaling being mostly down to monsters having more health and hitting slightly harder, something that can be avoided with some clever dodgerolling. The spells are mainly elemental based with some healing and purrzerking added for extra flavour. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3516541104 Conclusion: A cautious but hearty recommendation. This is one of those well crafted and cute games that feel like a light snack when you just need to kill a few hours with some hearty smash and bash. It is not the greatest game I ever played, but it is competent and hearty and sometimes that is all you really need. The cat-aspect of it all with all the heavy handed puns is a mixed bag, but it never got in the way for the frenetic kitty action, so it is all good.
