The first chapter of Oik turned out to be a really interesting experience. Even though it’s short, the game manages to offer dynamic and varied levels, never feeling repetitive or boring. In some cases, it even throws in a solid challenge, with a few levels I had to retry several times before beating them.
Visually, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but you can tell there’s a decent level of polish and care, which makes the experience enjoyable.
Personally, I found it more engaging and diverse than Zup, which tends to feel quite repetitive with very little variation between levels.
I really hope the next chapters live up to this strong first impression, because this series definitely has potential to grow.
