Jesus Christ, I haven't even gotten to the other glitches mentioned in the review but in the bonus chapter I got stuck in a dead loop of Hint:Go To Forest Portal -> move to another stage with no idea where to go -> Hint:Go To Forest Portal. The forest portal had been long since cleared out at this point.
Also in the main Golden Age game the prince is still pretty damn racist and complains whenever he has to make the Smallest Amount Of Effort. I think maybe it's not a good thing when you want to enact violence upon a companion every time you see them - and you see them for the entire game.
Really disappointed honestly? Puzzles in both were pretty mid but the other games were so much better (save for the centaur village one - Redleaf?). At the LEAST, they were SIGNIFICANTLY more functional.

There's a bug in the bonus chapter, unfortunately. It isn't allowing players to progress and finish it. The main game is playable and it is possible to finish it. Otherwise, good game with good graphics and story. It has also smooth gameplay; very good music, voiceovers and sound effects.
I recommend to get it on sale.

The main story of this game was good, however a bug that prevents you from finishing the bonus chapter is still present 7 years later. If you want this game, get it on sale. Otherwise, it's not worth it for the bugged bonus chapter.

Even though it's a prequel to the main series, it has the same charm and atmosphere, and a gorgeous artstyle and animations. The only downside is that in this version of the game there's a bug that makes it impossible to complete the bonus chapter, because there are certain key items that are impossible to pick up.

Can't finish the bonus game because there is a software bug in it where you can't select a form you need. This has been a known problem for three years and it is still being sold. Boomzap for me is not one of the preferred HOG designers. Selection of items is very picky. Hints are broken in this game - always points you to one place no mater where you are in the game once you reach that point.

This game is horrible
Bugs aside, this has the weakest, most generic story with almost zero ties to the original and the worst, ugliest animation out of the Awakening series' games. It also has terrible guidance, where the hint bird will keep telling you to go to the same area when there's absolutely nothing to do. One bug I found was that I was still able to use the hint even though Fives (my bird) wasn't hatched nor was his egg found at that point
Amazing, Big Fish, really giving us the most highest koala tea games
Redleaf Forest had the CGI dragon, which I can turn a blind eye to since he dies immediately after (the mechanical dragon, not the orange boi), but here almost everything is either CGI or a singular frame
I guess what I'm trying to say is
I hate this beyond words

Whilst the main part of the game is enjoyable, when playing the bonus game a glitch occurred when trying to pick up a mold near the end, as this is an intrinsic item that unless you have it you cannot proceed, it renders the bonus game not worth playing. This glitch has been known for some years according to other players and the game maker has refused to address it, that is why I would not recommend this game and was grateful II got it at a reduced price. I will not be purchasing any other games from this maker.

There's a bug in the bonus chapter that stops you from picking up the mold. I'm so sad that's where my Awakening adventures ends.

I've enjoyed the Awakening series since Awakening: The Dreamless Castle, and this game continues the tradition gorgeous artwork, soft music, and light puzzles the series has had.
However, Awakening: The Golden Age game is pretty much a standalone title from the overall series. It's a prequel to the series, but doesn't connect with Sophia's story aside from a brief mention in the bonus chapter. I found this a bit disappointing as Awakening: The Redleaf Forest had a good setup for more sequels at the end.
Speaking of the bonus chapter, as others have said, it is a part of the game that can't be completed. This is due to a progression-stopping bug that prevents picking up a crucial item that's needed to move things forward. This game was released in February, 2017, and more than three years later, the bug is still not patched. It seems to affect only the Steam version, however, as someone in the discussions mentioned they were able to contact customer support for Big Fish Games and were allowed to download the game through their client where the bug didn't exist.
Overall, this is one game in the series I can't recommend, especially due to the progression-stopping bug. Considering it's also a prequel to the series and doesn't really tie into the main story, it's not something that needs to be played to understand the original story.

Warning: There is a game stopping bug in the bonus chapter where you cannot pick up one of the objects needed to complete the game. You can click it all you want but nothing happens. Shame, as I was truely enjoying the game up until I couldn't pick up the mold from the closet with the shovel in it even though there is absolutely nothing else I can do. Clicking 'hint' tells me to go to that closet. Clicking 'hint' while in that closet tells me there is nothing to be done there. It's just broken.
If you do buy the game anyway, note that the game actually is pretty good, so as long as you don't play the bonus chapter, where the game breaking bug is, you should enjoy it, except for the fact you can't get all the in-game achievements without completeing the bonus chapter. So yeah, I can't recommend this one until the publishers fix it.
