Civil War: Battle of Petersburg Reviews

Very basic but i liked it - a bit like basic chess with american civil war units - for the price you cant say much anyway - hopefully there will be new games or upgrades with more action options and things to do etc. - nice game to play when you dont want to think much or got hangover.

I can't think of a game that is this much fun for this much price. It's a must have for any American Civil War enthusiast out there. Very simple game, easy to learn, hard to master. With this price, you can't go wrong with it. Over the years, I keep coming back and replaying this game. It almost looks like a no-nonsense board game.

If it was 2008 and the game was a free flash game, I could accept it. But for the 2017 released strategy game, it's not acceptable. Yeah, there is a nice idea; an easy turn-based war game. You can give it a try, but not worth 1€ or 2₺. It doesn't matter what your currency is; if you can buy a gum for the price of this game, go buy the gum.

For the price, what's the risk? BATTLE OF PETERSBERG will appeal to hisorical and strategy turn based gamers. Sure, there is room for improvement, especially with the hexagonal map, camera perspective and color scheme, which make it difficult to see terrain and to select units. And, I can't speak to historical accuracy because I'm no expert. But you get an entire campaign providing several hours of gameplay through multiple battles. The gameplay is simple and no-frills that gives artillery a lot of power (they can move, condutct ranged attack, and destroy entire units, all in one turn). Your strategy will focus on using artillery to blast away entire sections of the enemy front line, followed up by infantry to clean up anything missed by the artillery, and cavalry to exploit the hole you've just punched. My recollection of the Petersburg campaign is that this is basically the strategy used. Recommended despite its problems.

For what you pay, it's a fun game. Kind of neat to play for a few hours with a friend and check out. Nothing too serious.

first time doing a review under 3 hours but after 2 quick battles said yes I paid like 50 cents on sale is a "lunch time " game play it while eating at your desk to make those lunch hours pass fast . it is simple hex game graphics are crisp I did not figure out all the in and outs but for a buck off sale cannot go wrong . I am finding a lot these turn base game from tablets coming to desk tops are filling a nitch some are good some are bad for the price yes worth it those giving negative reviews on a game like this are wanting something for nothing like a Leftist from the USA wanting others to pay there way in life

Very simple turn based strategy. Four standard units - infantry, cavalry, cannon, general. Four maps to complete the campaign mode and get all 2 achievements in a couple hours. Nice little game for some trading cards and achievements. There is an old black and white historical photo before each map and one at the end of the game. The interface could use some polish, but for such a cheap game that only merits a couple hours of play, it is usable.

A very simple but enjoyable hex based strategy game. There is a lot of potential here if the developer wishes to add more scenarios and some additional mechanics. Definitely recommended if you enjoy games like Panzer General or Unity of Command.

Fun idea, but the interface kills it. The following things makes this a tedious affair: -It is too hard to see what units have moved. They only change color ever so slightly -It is to hard to recognize the genral from the other infantry units -it is too hard to see terrain modifiers. They map under the hexes is not enough. They need to stand out more -Map movement is very slow and unresponsive. -Clicking on the map is sometimes unresponsive. If these issues were solved, this would be a good little filler game, but in its current state, it can not be recommended.
