Awesome application. I take my photos, enlarge them and then edit them as required. Many photos can really be 'enhanced' by cropping them (I may rotate them a few degrees first in another application), then enlarging them to the max. my system can handle (I have 2 to 32GB RAM depending on which system I'm using) to enhance details. Very easy to use controls, handy "MB/GB" indicator based upon zoom level, many options for the models used for the 'zoom' as well as many options (I usually select mine to decrease noise). I save them then use photo editors, makeup programs and photo-story applications to get my desired output. A 'must have' for those travelling taking family, nature and other photos. Note: I paid for this application with my own funds. It's solely based upon my experience with it; I do not work for that company or know anyone working there.

One of the activities I enjoy doing for several years now is creating 3D artworks and graphics. Also, via the internet, I enjoy collecting various artworks and photos I like (but sometimes the quality for an image I find online isn't so good, or it could be of a small resolution size that I would like it to be bigger and to have good visual quality). Browsing through Steam's software selection via the Store, PhotoZoom Classic 6 looked interesting to me and I thought that if it worked well in resizing some images while retaining a good quality, or perhaps to just help in improving the quality of some images, that it could be quite useful to me. Anyways, I grabbed this software during a sale. I've tried re-sizing (both up-sizing and down-sizing) a few images as a bit of a test, and after experimenting with some of the settings per an image, I was usually pleased with how good of a job it did with the re-sized images still retaining a high-quality. Of course results can differ depending on various factors like the quality of the original image, how much of a re-size is being done, what settings are being used and such. That being said, in most cases where I tested it with images of a somewhat lower quality, it was able to help clean-up and sharpen the image to where there was a good noticable improvment. Overall I like this software and am usually pleased with the results it gives.

This software does work, but just how well is dependent on the user, the quality of the images, and how the software is actually used. If you are just wanting this software to enhance the details of an image, don't bother. It simply cannot beat the likes of Photoshop. I did several tests to compare what both softwares produced, and the resulting images were on-par with each other for enhancing details. If you are, instead, using this software for its intended purpose, which is enlarging your images, you'll see where this software actually starts to pull ahead of the competition. There are still exceptions here as not every image responds the same way to the methods of either product, but for the most part, Photo Zoom Classic 6 produces better enlarged images. All of my test images and results were simply too big to upload (6 gigabytes worth), so you'll need to do comparisons yourself. The big question is: Is it worth it? Honestly, I don't know the answer to that question. Had I paid full price for the software, I may be unhappy with how well it performs its advertised features. Yes, it does what it advertises, but it doesn't do it so well that it completely outclasses the competition. If you already have software that can do this sort of thing, you really aren't missing out by giving this one a pass. On the other hand, if you don't have access to reasonable image manipulation software that contains the features of this software, it may very well be what you are looking for. The bottom line: It's not bad software, because it does actually work, but the value to performance ratio is questionable. I can still recommend it since it does what is advertised, however, waiting for sales may be your best course of action with this one. It sucks promoting that behavior when the developer does deliver a functioning product, but 50 bucks is a good portion of the way to purchasing a full software package that is true competition for Photoshop...not just a single feature.
