Little known gem of a racing game from 1997.
Played the heck out of this game with my bro doing local split-screen multiplayer.
Championships in pro/mirror leagues (Difficulty level) for bragging rights.
Playing the same fast sports cars every time became too run of the mill, so we'd blindly pick a random car for each championship run-through. All the more bragging rights for winning with the coop or the bug! We became so good at the game that the AI was of no challenge at all to us, they would be left far behind every time.
Ignition featured some cool racing physics and a dynamic tire streak system. Each car handled differently and had to be played to its strengths, or with its weaknesses in mind. Each track had different hazards and environments to deal with, which also affected handling and races. You could play a race perfectly, and still be victimised by the physics. Getting clipped by a car or glancing off a rock face could send you into a spin that lost you your first place. Or perhaps your timing was a bit off, and you got swept away by an avalanche.
Very simplistic controls, arrow keys, boost, and rear view camera. We would play two players on the same keyboard, WASD for one player, arrow keys for the other.
Playing this again had all my muscle and track memory come back instantly, leaving the AI behind in the dust.
I wish there had been more tracks, because they were all so well designed and fun.

all cars start exploding forever out of nowhere. I will ask for a refund for now... I will buy it again if they ever fix this.

This is a childhood favorite of mine, it has a multiweather system like forza 4 and a handling that is similar to dirt rally 2.0 and gta 4, the soundtrack is superb, also the charm, this game is charmous as f, just get this. I bought on Steam because I'm too lazy to setup a dosbox thingy in every machine with different operating systems to play this game.
