Tears of a Dragon Reviews
We all have inner demons that sometimes tell us to do the wrong thing. Savage Dragoon is in a constant battle to conquer the darkness lurking within himself...Also known as his "Dark Passenger". Where his story ends...You Decide... This game is based on a true story, that being my own and my constant battle against depression.

RPG Maker strikes again!
Tears of a Dragon is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
And the cringe here is turned up to the max, even for RPG Maker fanfiction levels. This is one of the ones where the developer put themselves into the game as the main character... thermonuclear levels of cringe. Apart from the cringe, there's nothing notable here... it's a painfully generic asset flip.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Tears of a Dragon has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The first, most common and easily attained achievement is "family", not difficult to attain, but less than 2 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 2 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Tears of a Dragon is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

If you enjoyed the early Final Fantasy games I would strongly recommend this game.Has many interesting twists and turns to keep you on your toes, and a clever, interesting story with multiple choice outcomes.I would say it could do with some kind of tutorial,or explanations of the limit moves and such, but easy enough to pick up and understand if you've played this style of game before. All in all, definately one of the better indie RPG's ive played, good job

Very nice play style, emersive, more than I expected from playing the demo. I've seen my friends' characters in the game, and it makes me very excited to finally be able to play it after waiting so long for the release!
Mind you, there is a few bugs, and that's going to happen, but Savage has been working hard to fix said bugs. It's really awesome when you mention a bug in the game, and it's fixed the next day. xD shows how much he cares about the people playing!!!

I played this game a lot while it was in it's demo version, and i'm pleased to say that everything great about the demo is now in the full version, and then some!
If you enjoy the classic RPGs, then this is definitely a game for you. It brings back many memories of playing those for me, and also includes some elements from more modern games to help mix things up. The story features multiple branches and so you're almost guaranteed to find something new each time you play.
I personally haven't come across any bugs yet, but I know the developer is working very hard on fixing any that appear along with adding new content. He is also very good at giving out updates and letting people know what is going on, which just shows his level of commitment to the game.
I was very excited to get playing the release version, and i'm very happy to say that it has not disappointed. If you're looking for and RPG to play, or an indie game in general, then this is one that should be in your library!

I really enjoyed playing this rpg game that was created by a friend and fellow You Tuber Savage Dragoon. To create this old school Final Fantasy type of game was an achievement in itself and I really liked the story of one man's quest to defeat the darkness around him. As a sufferer of mental illness myself, particularly anxiety, I know what it is like to battle against the demons inside your head telling u that u cannot do this even though u want to. The whole game itself was a joy from start to finish and I can never fault it whether it is from the narrative, character designs, enemies, boss battles etc. There are hints to other rpg games and animes particularly FF7. It wasn't easy but it wasn't overly hard either. I love a game where decisions can lead to consequences, however bad they might be.
Thanks to Savage Dragoon for creating this amazing game. I can highly recommend that u give this game a try and u never know it might make u want to replay it to get different endings and new achievements. I still have 9 more to get myself lol.
