The mission is pretty ok and ads some neat ideas with progressing to unlock buildings and racing against time to find out the secrets of the island. The new building if used well can set you up with a ton of cash crops.

Possibly not worth the cost, but the game is constantly on sale and it comes with the Special Edition GOTY Ultimate Collection Director's Cut versions of the game.
The Plantation is actually very useful, and if you are serious about mass-producing cash crops, they will replace the Farms for everything except food. Uncertain if they are more productive than the Bio Farm added in Modern Times, but they are less expensive and employ more people.
Tropico 4: Plantador DLC Review
Plantador is the second DLC for Tropico 4. This DLC contains one costume for your avatar, one new building, one new extra mission, one new trait, and some decorations.
The extra mission is "Research". This mission is unique, as you can only build very few buildings at start, but you can research more buildings throughout the mission. You will choose what building you want to research. You will gain research points per month. Some objectives will give you more research points per month so the research speed will be faster. You will start with building an agriculture based economy while helping El Presidente uncover the mysteries in the Island of Aeonita. The mission is quite moderate in my opinion and should take you about an hour or so to finish.
The new building is the Plantation, which is a bigger version of the farm. It can only yield cash crops unlike the farm, but in a larger scale. Plantations can house 8 farmers, while farms can house only 6. Plantation costs $3000 while farms costs $1500. I frequently use plantation to plant my cash crops because it's more efficient in my opinion and will help the early phase of the game. The plantador trait is very good, it gives +20% cash crops export price and at 5 star, farmers will gain skill +50% faster. The other stuffs like decorations, and outfit is nice to have. Overall I think it's a pretty good DLC.

Great dlc. Adds some content. Although not as much as the others. It would be better if it was given away for free. It is worth taking in a pack with the rest. To be honest, I don't even remember how useful it is. In general, this add-on makes farming in the game too easy.

The new building, Plantation, is a very useful addition to the game. The farm is larger and produces cash crops. It also provides a large number of jobs, making the game slightly easier.

Plantador is a second DLC for Tropico. Yet another tiny stuff.
The mission is great fun, reminding me a bit of mission from Tropico 3: Absolute Power. You start on the island with almost no buildings available and have to choose what you want to be researched next. And one of the first available buildings is, you guessed it, plantador. But while it will be nicely tough at first and exporting argiculture will be the way to go, soon you will be able to just build your usual mines and oil wells and swim in money, easily quick-build rushing whatever mission demands you next.
It still tries to give you a challenge by sending a disaster at you every minute at the end of mission, but still nothing to stop El Presidente and his magical money that make buildings construct themselves.
But hey, at least it's fun while it lasts. And interesting. And mission isn't so linear either.
As for building itself, Plantador is a farm+, a bit better in everything, but it can grow only coffee, tobacco and sugar, which gameplay-wise aren't food, but raw material. Should be useful, since those exports bring good money.

This is another "cheating" DLC imo (like the Cement Plant) because it provides quite a few jobs and grows quite a bit of whatever crop you choose. It's almost a no brainer to build this right away instead of the standard farms.

The Plantador DLC is number two in the line of Tropico 4 DLC. It follows the general pattern, adding an overpowered building, a new trait, a mission I'll get back to you on, and some admittedly nice-looking cosmetic decorations.
Plantations are literally just supercharged farms that only grow cash crops. They employ more, they produce more, they are more. They're more expensive too, but still a no-brainer if you're aiming to float your island on a sea of agricultural exports. Really, that's what some of these DLCs are in a nutshell: no-brainers. If I had to be generous, I'd say they're for difficult scenarios or islands where the player simply intends to grow as much as possible, but they still make almost every situation easier.
The Plantador trait actually syncs decently with the game. It raises the export price of cash crops, as if your plantations weren't enough of an earlygame win button, and it increases the skill gain of your farmers. Given that the pre-existing Farmer background merely pleases the Communist faction, pisses off the Intellectuals and heavily boosts farmers' production, it's not conceptually bad.
Really, this isn't bad in general - it gives you new stuff to play with, a modus operandi that Tropico 4 sticks to and does well - it's just poorly balanced. I suppose if you farm a lot and somehow don't own this, I'd recommend it. These DLCs used to cost $5 each, but now you can snap them all up in a bundle when they're on sale, so if you're intent on playing this game it's not a bad idea.
