Amazing game, if you are buying it to build, it will consume you. Your only waking thoughts will be how to do the next thing and the next until your creation is finally done and you are consumed by the next and the cycle repeats itself. If your buying it to goof around with workshop builds, then you’ll have fun flying around or blasting civilian vessels out of the ocean :)

Great game overall! Got this game a few weeks ago as i have been yearning for it for years until i finally got a pc and steam for Christmas. It is very fun to mess with the creations i saw youtubers use! The only dislike i have is the performance optimization.

I would love to recommend this But I'm not going to reckon in this. It has two many DLC It's understandable why search and destroy was a DLC. However, the other two DLC don't make sense. They don't add enough content, they'll gate keep some things that are shockingly stupid. even though it has horrible updating structure. Poor management by QA. multiple times where they have said, oh yeah, we'll add this feature never have or take two years. ever since this left early access, it's been a up hill battle that they will never win if they keep going the way they are I would love to recommend this game, but if they decided to give. industrial frontier DLC and Space DLC for free, I would reconsider but current **** no.

to truly experience stormworks, always set your weather override to maximum during SaR missions and turn some music that will go hard. stormworks its a game about large ships being performance killers so you wull be unable to even look at them normally, its a game about random ass tsunami hitting everything it can after you spend time getting to position, setting the gear and getting control of situation, its a game about endless workshop builds being the sweet spot of the game,i literally wasted countless hours checking out lots of builds without even using them in missions. if you like mixed SaR type of games, emergency services and almost non limited build simulator this game should fit you, you wont find any counterpart where you can be in the cold and endless sea as a rescue personnel fighting fire onboard of the big tanker and trying to not fail the task like your life depends on it

This game is worth getting if you are into complex creativity. The learning curve is a bit hard but with inspiration and dedication, you can figure it out like I did.

Beautiful Game. There is a lot to do in many different industries. You can rescue, oil drill, transport, fish, and probably more. The game does have a pretty steep learning curve. There will be parts of the game that you have to research when first starting, as the tutorial only walks you through the first rescue. I would recommend watching a few videos or following some guides to learn how to use a microcontroller, as you tend to spend quite some time building them out to serve your specific purpose. It does take some time, an engineering mindset, and many failed attempts to get a functioning system, but once you have an understanding of the system you can build them pretty quick. The only issue I have with this game is the amount of time you have to put into a vehicle to get it to be in a 'finished' state. It takes a WHILE to build, which makes it more rewarding in the long run but can be draining to spend so much time on one vehicle. Even after probably 40+ hours of building, I'm not used to the block rotation. The block rotation is kind of a press and pray style where you mash the buttons until you find the rotation you want. This is even worse with the glass windows with unique angles (no joke, spent around 3-4 minutes trying to rotate a single window block into position). By default, it uses keys J, K, and L to rotate which puts it across the entire keyboard and it feels like it gives you less control than other building mechanisms. If the devs ever end up reading this, PLEASE implement options for users. I would love to see a similar rotation mechanism to From The Depths, where you hold tab and use wasd + qe, which is able to be toggled in the settings. Reaching across the keyboard just kills the flow and enhances my carpal tunnel. While I am slowly getting used to the controls, giving an alternative to the players shouldn't require that much effort and seems to be something many people have brought up in Reddit and Steam forums.

This is another of those reviews that I hate to write. At launch, I would have strongly recommended this game, but at this point, I do not recommend purchasing this game. I will elaborate for those interested. Any modern adult gamer will easily understand what I am about to describe because we have seen it numerous times, and you can usually see that it is true when developers freak out after it is said. This game is streamer bait. It wasn't always, at launch it was a solid search and rescue style survival builder. You create aircraft, boats, submersibles, etc., and use them to complete missions for rewards. Seems like a perfectly reasonable gameplay loop, and it was, until the streamers got hold of it. The devs, as you may expect, have an unhealthy obsession with how streamers feel about their game. The POIs on the map are even named after most of these streamers. Why is this an issue? It's an issue because VERY FEW of these streamers actually engage with the decent gameplay loop that I described. Instead they just build in creative, and fly around randomly to entertain the audience. The devs see this, and assume that all people who play the game, are doing so with the purpose of entertaining an audience, which is clearly ludicrous. The first DLC (Industry) was reasonable since supplying fuel was always a critical part of the gameplay loop, and I can only assume that this DLC was planned before launch, and consisted primarily of unfinished launch content. After that, they must have thrown the only employee with common sense out the window. The next DLC was search and destroy, it added weapons and warfare...to a search and rescue game. Why? Streamers were spending their time crashing planes into each other to entertain the audience, and throwing fits because they wanted guns. They even mobilized their viewers to launch a campaign to get this added. This DLC is entirely useless to the gamplay loop I described, and no new loop was created. You just have the option for the AI to shoot at you while you run missions. Next, the space DLC was added, and I lost all patience with these devs. For some reason these "individuals" (I am self-censoring here) launched a search and rescue game using a physics engine that lacked air pressure management . . . in a game that has missions that can require a submarine. This was fine for the most part of the game's existence. We all knew it wasn't realistic, but that's just how it was. When the space DLC was added they were forced to retroactively add in gas physics. This broke every single creation on the workshop...ALL OF THEM! Today, some creators have retrofitted their creations to work, but most workshop creations are broken in MANY ways. You'll suffocate standing in the cabin of your boat, your tanks can't transfer fuel, engines don't run correctly, sinkable craft no longer sink, refineries can't refine fuel, the list goes on. All of this happens if you own the DLCs or not. It was forced down our throat. Why would they do such a dumb thing? You guessed it, the streamers needed something else to entertain the "individuals" watching them crash ships into each other. And so here we are today, the game is fundamentally broken in every way imaginable. Unless you only play in creative, it's worthless. The early survival gameplay loop that earned all these upvotes you see? It's unplayable. The streamers continue to push more bad ideas, and the devs continue to worship them. With every passing year, this game just keeps getting worse and worse, but at least the streamers are getting paid. BOYCOTT STREAMER BAIT! It's bad for the game industry in the long run.
