I was a huge fan of GolfQuestionmark so I'm glad to see that it finally made its way to steam (under a new name). It's nice to have a full fledged golf game rather than just miniature golf(which is fun too). Plus, why wouldn't you want to drive around in golf carts with rocket sauce?

I'd been looking for this game for years, since the third or fourth time I had to Format C. Years, you say? The last time I saw or played this game, it was on a CRT monitor. A CRT MONITOR, FFS!
At the time, this game was a great cold turkey option to my Outlaw Golf 2 addiction. It was glitchy, obscure, and painful to play (as opposed to OG2 which was painful, drunk and technically a great golf game... just ignore Dave Attell).
Can't say for certain when I first played Golf?, but I think it was in 2006/7, and I have to say that nothing -NOTHING- seems to have changed since then. Which, imo, is great. This game is a trial, an experience, a teapot on your head. It is by no means easy to pick up, but it also is hard to put down. The minimalist graphics are perfectly executed and stand as a nice juxtaposition to graphics heavy, physics/system/story weak, AAA produced games. It stood on that aesthetic ten years ago and it stands on it now. The story is both coherent and poignant in view of today's politics. That might be a joke, as this is a game about Golf? I think, but you didn't have to read that last sentence, so it all comes together.
However, after all that smoke blowing, I can't obscure at least one thing I've run into in this iteration, and it's a biggie for me- jumping in the cart immediately puts me in black screen mode- I can still see the hole map and other HUD elements, but if I want to see where I'm going, I have to get out. Mostly, I don't care- it's a golf course, so driving should be fast and obstacle free- but the cart driving was some of the most fun I remember from the freeware I found years ago. Perhaps it's a glitch in my system this time, but without more tinkering I have to call it a negative point.
TL;DR- waited for the end for that? Yep- and here it is: This is Golf? Golf? is great. But is it Golf? Assemble your workgroup and create a synergistic plan to decide whether this idea merits further development into a concept.
Out of 5?

“Golf for Workgroups” fills you with exactly the sort of unease and malaise you’d expect from anything that has “Workgroups” in its name. It really is optimized for maximum productivity. Highly recommended for all upwardly mobile problem solvers, builders, thinkers, and doers who strive for more, move the needle, stand on the precipice, and always aim to deliver an ETA by EOD.

Pretty jank, pretty glitchy. Fun to play with friends, we played four rounds with four friend and got about an hour and a half out of it. Probably won't start it again until there's a lot more content but it was easily worth the 1.24€ I got it for on sale.

It's a pretty neat game with a good engine and could do with more levels and certainly a better multiplayer system. The game's already quite enjoyable even with other great golf games in existance.
And then it never got updated.
Just get 100ft Robot Golf.

dead game
really tho if if they would just add a course builder or moddability it'd be worth 5$ but it's a 1 dollar game.
I actually really like it tho

On the one hand, this is a fifteen year old placeholder for a real game but on the other hand it's neat and fun and different. The swing mechanics are buttery. (Dunno why the store page says they started work in 2008. Archive.org has a page from 2005 which matches the "last modified" for the files on one of my old hard drives. I am old and getting older.) I want to play with my friends but that requires convincing my friends to be hip and cool original gamester aesthetes like me.
Recommended if you have reasonable expectations.

Ages ago, there was an unassuming little tech demo called "Golf?" (as in, Golf Question Mark). It was very much a golf game; mouse-based swinging and all, but the abstract sepia look of the courses, the brightly-colored robotic golfers with guns and teapots on their heads, and the rocket-powered golf carts certainly set it apart from the crowd. While not much became of "Golf?" around that time, the title screen always promised, "Free Demo (for something we eventually hope to charge money for)".
Golf for Workgroups is that something.
While sanitized of its very slightly less copyright-friendly aspects (the "dancing guy" head, previously stated to be a Street Fighter 2 reference, has been replaced with "another gun") and given a spit-polish in several other aspects, Golf for Workgroups is more or less the same game that "Golf?" was. While certainly it's a bit less buggy (only a bit; I've had it come up with zero graphics at least once), it is still only nine holes long, with no sign of any more courses coming. In fact, despite this being an Early Access game, the last update was over a year ago, and the devs seem to have moved on to other things.
Now, I loved "Golf?" and I'm more than happy to buy this just to show my support for it, but at the same time, I cannot recommend people buy it if they're expecting something more substantial than the existing 9 holes. Perhaps this might change in the future, if more courses got added, but for the time being, I can't really advise a purchase in good conscience.

Fun, but the content runs out fast and its not looking like this is ever getting out of early access or getting any more updates.
