Great if you don't have spotify, where the tracks are posted for free. i do have spotify, so i'm stupid. Gave 34 money for something i already had apparently. Solid soundtrack of pretty awesome songs regardless.

MP3 320CBR. A lossless soundtrack is shipped in WAV format with the cover art in JPG format (the correct format for embedded ID3 cover art) in a ZIP for some reason (neither audio nor images compress well with DEFLATE). I recommend using the FLAC command line utility to convert from WAV to FLAC if your player supports it. Tracks verified to be different via Bit Comparison extension in foobar2000. I've yet to see a fake lossless rip but it's good to know. foobar2000 correctly reads the tags for the WAV release. iTunes does not — they will have no tags upon being loaded into the library and you will need to fix them manually (there may be a program that will convert them to the expected tags but I've long since left iTunes so I'm not exactly sure what kind of tags it wants). Files contain a whole lot of tagging information. iTunes does not support embedding album artwork in WAV files, but they are embedded into each file. If your player supports it, I would recommend removing the embedded artwork yourself and replace it with a folder.jpg or album.jpg using one of the provided artwork files in the ZIP. This reduces redundant data in the files, making them slightly smaller collectively. If you use iTunes are unaware of how to convert to ALAC yet, go to Edit>Preferences>General>Import Settings, then change the "Import Using:" dropdown to "Apple Lossless Encoder." After you've saved that setting, highlight all the WAV tracks and use File>Convert>Create Apple Lossless Version. You will now have compressed, lossless audio files compatible with iPods and iPhones without third party apps required on the Windows PC / Mac, or device you are syncing (this will allow you to sync iPod Shuffles, Nanos and Classics with the lossless audio while taking up less space). ALAC can also hold album artwork data while WAV cannot. Some users may choose to use ffmpeg instead but I've had issues with ffmpeg creating files that make my iPod Classic angry when on-demand converted for live sync via foo_dop. An ALAC conversion of the WAV soundtrack created using iTunes is ~27% smaller than WAV. A FLAC conversion of the WAV soundtrack using FLAC 1.3.1 at compression level 8 is ~44% smaller than WAV. You can likely further decrease this slightly by removing artwork embedded into files and using an external cover instead as the cover is stored 27 times across these files when embedded.

This is a phenomenal soundtrack and even for such a low price. I would consider buying it, if you like at least two songs from this soundtrack.

TL:DR get the soundtrack even if you're not interested in the game. Score: 9/10 Redout is an amazing game and the soundtrack is a major selling point. I'd go so far as to say that the soundtrack is better than the game as a whole. I've spent more time listening to the soundtrack than I have playing the game. Almost all the tracks from the first 2 areas are real bangers and there are some good tracks from other parts of the game too. This soundtrack is worth it on the merit of tracks 2 (Desert Druids) through 6 (Sub Zero Sonar) irrespective of the rest of the soundtrack. The soundtrack is more in line with the electronic and dance music coming out of Europe at the time of release, as opposed to what you hear coming out of Canada and the U.S., although there is some rock influence with amazing guitar solos in some of the tracks from the second area of the game. With the announcement of Redout 2 I'm hoping that it has just as good a soundtrack as the original.

Following the heritage of antigrav racers and their absolutely banging soundtracks, you'd hope Redout would have a sick soundtrack to propel you through the races. And it does! It's a soundtrack pumped with energy, with lots of electronic beats and synths. Trance, Dubstep and Techno are the main focuses here, with sparse amounts of vocals, which I think is for the better. I think it's well suited to not have anything to aggressive or impactful, and it's good to see that, as combat isn't really Redout's focus. Tracks are offered in both MP3 lossy and WAV lossless, and it's nice to see it properly tagged with album art. There'a ton of tracks, though I couldn't possibly tell you every specific one. Some tracks feel like they blend together, though that's more a compliment to the consistency that the soundtrack has. It's definitely a soundtrack that flows well. Mixing's also pretty good too, no tracks with bad volume levels or egregious annoyances. Favourite track: Sub Zero Sonar

Perhaps one of the best soundtracks I have encountered in a videogame. I always feel I need to BLAST this game and the soundtrack is a big part of that. Every composition is perfectly suited to the feel of the tracks, imparting as much atmosphere as the visuals do to the overall experience. Apart from that, I often find myself listening to the soundtrack when i am not playing the game. A few of the "classical" sort of pieces recall an epic Hans Zimmer vibe. (Great Dark Spot and Red Storm are my particular favorites.) A standout OST in the realm of Gaming. 10/10

This is one of the greatest racing game soundtracks of all time, absolutely fantastic. The music is what I would describe as thematic techno, though it also includes elements of dubstep and vocal trance. A must-buy for fans of electronic music and especially Redout itself!

Very good OST! Good: + Good music. + Has loseless music track files. + Has high-resolution cover image. + Does not ask you to buy OST vol.2/vol.3 (or such) separately when new tracks are added. Bad: - Raw loseless WAV files are packed in a zipped file, which mean that every time a new track get added, you have to redownload that whole file again. (which is big) [strike]- Need Redout game in your account to buy this. (no, you can't buy just ONLY the OST, but that's Steam design)[/strike] [strike]- Can not just download OST on Mac/Linux (blame Steam for this too)[/strike] UPDATE on Feb 28, 2020: Thanks to Steam and 34BigThings, now it can be bought/downloaded separately. :)

I waited for a proper soundtrack album since the release of the game, most of the fans did. Now it's finally here and I can say for sure, this is the one of the best VGM albums of 2016. Properly mastered, tagged, have a lossless version (much appreciated for WAV's, other developers should take a note) and even have a 4k album cover! Well worth its price. I only wish they would've include demo/early versions of the tracks, such as "You Will Burn". Album version is based on a version which was introduced in Update 1.02 and I think some fans would like to get a version from 1.0-1.01. And hey, I would buy a CD version of this album if they will ever make one...
