Finally, a mention of everybody's favourite desert fish. Hopefully they'll get a return in DoW III

It's as close as you're ever going to get to having Tau in DoW2. In all seriousness, though, it is an exceptionally well done addition to a sorely underdeveloped game mode. While it's true all the Last Stand heroes have a multitude of possible, expressive builds, I would say the Tau commander is easily the most modular of the bunch by far. This is appropriate, given that battlesuits were the first real all-in-one unit for 3rd edition 40k, so much so that they first popularized the hobbyist practice of magnetizing weapons for easy inter-changeability. - Want to play keep away? It's Tau, easy, next. - Want to do the exact opposite? Load up on flamers and gun drones to terrorize trash mobs. - Want to be an all-in-one WMD whose only backside is spawning a doppleganger that invariably murders your entire party on wave 17? Plasma Cannon, Missile Pod, Iridium Armor, Gun Drone, Shield Generator- you burn through power armor like a knife through butter, crack carnifexes wide open with missile pods, and goomba stomp guardsmen/banshees/orks/whatever by bunny hopping on top of their heads while your gun drone mops up any survivors. - Make a support commander who hops around giving pep talks and encouraging butt pats to your squadmates so they get buffed into the upper stratosphere. I could keep going, but you get the idea. The Tau commander isn't a conventional combatant, and one who will necessitate a -lot- of micro'ing (but I assume you like that if you're still playing Last Stand in 2024) but is fun, potent and rewards creative builds. He's also voiced by O'Kais from DoW1, and has a lot of novel banter to go with it. I couldn't recommend spending 10$ on him, though, despite having done that myself and regretting nothing; largely because I did that back in 2016 and got a lot of playtime out of him. I have no clue how popular this could still be 8 years onward, but as he's locked behind an exclusively multiplayer mode, your mileage is going to be indeterminable... So 2$ on sale is a much safer bet.

Cute but expensive. It is better to take in a pack with other addons. It amazes me that there are so many cosmetic dlcs for this game. On the other hand, why not. On sale, it's pretty decent.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution - The Last Stand Tau Commander
DLC that adds a new hero to the game for multiplayer, along with a lot of choice when it comes to gear and equipment. The problem with this DLC is that it's too expensive, plus the fact that for some reason it's a multiplayer exclusive character, and since we had Tau as a full faction in the previous installment, I don't understand why it couldn't be the same here, even in a stripped down version.

Luckily only bought for $2 but when I bought the game for $5 this is a scam. I thought I was buying the entire race for the game but its literally 1 character for a game mode I don't play. Be weary Tau players they are not actually in the game

it is quite a good commander, what is beyond me is what they abandoned The Last Stand mode, they could make a new The Last Stand with improved graphics and some base heroes, then selling other heroes and even maps, DLC hear etc, it is mind blowing why they don't want to make money, I love to play with the Orks, The Ork Warboss and other different types of heroes would be an amazing addition

In the dark future of the 41st Millenium there is only cash grab! Aditional content should be paid for! Yet said content should be worth the pay. For the price this dlc initially asked for it should atleast have included the Tau race as a playable faction in multiplayer and not just one hero for the sub game mode in moba style (which also never got more maps or other replayability). I waited for a heavy discount which is its actual worth it in my opinion (if it actually still has players at this point).

In the dark future of the 41st Millennium only pretending to be Iron man can save you. Despite being the most expensive out of the all the DLC that is provided for Retribution, the Tau Commander more than makes up for the pricing by offering a new hero option in Last Stand. For those of you who are not familiar with the Tau, this Commander focuses on solely Ranged combat with an entire set of unique weapons that enable you to alter the offensive or defensive abilities of this character as is the case with all hero options. If there is any flaws with this hero it is that at times the unit feels overpowered as you annihilate anything even vaguely near you with ease, especially once you have unlocked the higher level weapons.
