General Thoughts:
All I can do is think of how much fun this game is while trying a new fighting game format and succeeds at it. It’s a great competitive game with so much character. However, if you don’t have anyone to play with you, you’ll probably won't get much out of the game as the online portion is inactive and there isn’t much of single player content. It’s a real gem and I wish more people would play it because the creativity shown in this game deserves to be seen.
Pro:
Unique Competitive Game: The game has a strange yet interesting game play style, basically mixing extreme dodge ball comboed with special attacks along with a Smash like damage counters and area knock ousts. It's complicated yet can be played with lower skill level among friends.
Distinct Heroes: Each playable character has a great look and feel, each one has distinct special attacks and striking look. You can play as Veronica the robot raptor!
The World Stage: There’s five stages in the game and they all manage to have their own distinctive feel to them. You have your basic arena, an arena where the floor falls off as it takes damage, one where you have to push the enemy teams across the stage to throw them off a building, a hexagon arena which allows you to use walls to attack your enemies and an arena which provides special dodgeballs with an extra punch. Overall enough to change it up so it doesn't get stale.
Neutral:
Bot-Fighting; The ramp up from Medium difficulty to Hard is like throwing out garbage into a garbage can vs into a black hole that sucks you up along with the trash, from incompetent AI to you can’t move because you’re stunlocked for the next 30 sec before the game ends.
Overwhelming Entry: This game has decent amount of complexity, it knows it because it forces you to play the tutorial before doing anything else. And although it does a good job it’s a bit overwhelming especially since its a brand new fighting game format. A slower pace tutorial and maybe a story mode would help it.
Cons:
Online Grave: This game is pretty much a local game only. Unless a substantial influx of player come out from hiding. Unless you have friends to play this with you won’t get much out of it.
No-Story: Each character has a small paragraph for their backstory, however the game is missing an Arcade mode which would add to replayability of the game. If you don’t have anyone to play with and since the online playing is pretty much kaput an arcade mode would make this a better sale so at least single players can have something to do. The only incentive to play by yourself is unlocking new characters which is done by winning one match versus the four different AI difficulties. This okay yet anticlimactic an arcade mode would have been really appreciated even if it was just a string of random matches.
