This is a terrific game. It's a really interesting action-strategy blend. The matchups are pretty fast, lasting only a few minutes each. Each matchup is played on single-screen - the map for the matchup. There are a bunch of different maps available, with different formats and obstacles. At the start of the matchup, you pick a pilot. Then you essentially prep for the match. 1) you pick your pilot's loadout. Essentially this involves picking skills and abilities. 2) You decide your troop composition and unit placement. Units are built one at a time from available components (affect abilities, stats, how they move, etc.).The pieces have economic/point values that maintain some degree of balance in matches. (In the campaign, the spending decisions become something like an economic management dynamic, where you want to win each match with the minimum expenditure on support.) 3) After placing the units on the map, you program your units to execute strategies (attack, defend, follow, etc.). And finally, once you're all setup, you play out the actual match as an arcade style battle. Think league of legends meets smash TV. There are a couple of ways to win (wipe units, take base). You play alongside the robots you programmed. If that isn't cool enough, you have the ability to "ride" any of the robots on your team, if you want. This gives you full individual control over the robot/unit you are "riding." Some maps also have full-blown mech suits for you to wear (like temporary power boosts, an amazing additional mechanic to the game that can assist with the win, if used at right moment). There is some impressive strategic depth, and a lot of room for genuine skill to be cultivated. You need to pick the right robots for your team (the right combo of units). You need to build them and place them in response to your opponent. Then you need to program the robots with the right logic to optimize your chance of win, predicting the commands your opponent will issue to their team. And then your also need to play it out with the right tactics in real time, adapting to the evolving situation. Two thumbs up at a minimum. No clue how this has flown under radar to date. It has solid multiplayer and a fun campaign as well. I'd say huge potential, but everything seems actualized already, exactly the way I would want it. It's all here. Just play it. And share with friends!

I'm absolutely shocked how a game like this that is reasonably polished and has good production values only has 4 reviews after nearly 2 years since release. So far I've only played through the tutorial and a skirmish match, but from what I've seen the game has good variety, strong replay value (even in single player modes), and a combat model that seems to allow for a high skill ceiling Moreover, this game *feels* complete. It's not an EA title with a dozen missing and half-baked features; it's a full product. For $10, I'd say that's well worth it

I have 0.8 hours on record as of this review, though I did play the demo a little bit too. This is a review for the multiplayer. The game just came out, so I don't know how easy it will be to get matches down the road - but this game is really fun multiplayer. There's tons of customization in your bot and pilot loadout, and multiplayer matches are these epic mind games. You might have a shield bot guarding your other bots and have them all huddle behind it, or go with long range attacks, etc. It's a real mind game and the meta will probably change a lot. You can give orders to your bots before the match although it's not so complex that it's like programming them. You can give them various orders like attack this bot, wait here for 5 seconds, support this other unit, etc. If things go wrong you can hop onto the bot and control it directly. After 5 rounds or so you also both get a powerful mech to fight with. I really hope this game gets a playerbase because it's fantastic. I will update this review as I get more playtime. I'm not that interested in the single player content, but it seems good as well.
