Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers, KBM, & Xbox Gamepad. VR Review Only.
There's a reason why I tried three different control schemes: they all had drawbacks. The problem with Touch Controllers, which happens to be the best control scheme, is that you turn very slowly. There's no way to modify this. It takes about 2-3 seconds to turn 90 degrees. You have the same problem with a gamepad. Keyboard & mouse does fix this problem and it would be the preferrable control scheme, however, I had problems with the lock combination using KBM. I had to switch back to Touch Controllers. I could look past the horrid controls if the game was otherwise enjoyeable. However, this game is all about a good idea with just bad execution. The graphics are subpar and even then I experienced low frame rates. The voice acting is bad. The gameplay is in the end, just looking for hidden objects. And to top it off, I experienced a game-breaking bug. In the third chapter, where you're in a blood ritual, I finished the puzzle only to see it bug out and not open the door that's supposed to open once you finish the puzzle. The only option is to clear out your save. Given the horrid control scheme I chose not to do that and instead just exit and uninstall the game. (I confirmed I did the puzzle correctly by watching a walkthrough and yeah after doing every step exactly, the door should open but didn't in my case). In the end, this game is simply finding a key or object you need. There's a nice atmosphere and I wanted to see where the story was going, but with all the problems I was experiencing it just wasn't worth it. Rate 3.5/10. Do not buy, not even on sale, until game is fixed if it ever is.

This game would not launch on my newer PC, so I had to try it on the old one. Slow frame rate, clunky controls, not fun at all-and that's just messing around with the barrels in the very beginning, since I couldn't find anything else to do. Getting anywhere near those barrels "kicked" them over. That is to say, you can't jump on them to get over the wall. Done.

I quite clearly bought this game based on the screenshots. DO NOT. Horrid. Rubbish. Endless loops. Find runes? Recall memories? I think i'll stay dead thank you.

This game is a grab bag of stupid horror tropes. A tour of random horror settings? Yep. Silly horror creatures that appear behind you but can't actually hurt you? Yep. Bad voice acting? Yep. A mysterious narrator who isn't trying to trick you, swearsy-realsies? Yep. Uncovering your mysterious past that somehow led you to this point? Yep. A reveal that's maybe you're dead, maybe you're crazy? Yep. It's like you asked ChatGPT to generated a horror game based on the most over used and least compelling horror tropes. Except I doubt even ChatGPT would throw in the interrogation scene from Three Kings. Why would that be in here? Why not, none of the other choices they made make any sense.

Very interesting concept, good jump scares, good story, takes a while till you get everything together so quite a long play time. If you're a fan of unconventional games definitely give this one a go.

Firstly i want to say that I wanted to give this game a good review. I am fully aware the game is far-from-perfect. I didn't expect much. Actually, I expected campy and mostly b-rate horror tropes at best. My expectations were low. The game opens with a pretty heavy handed exposition with sub-rate voice acting. Again, I knew what I signed up for. I signed up for low-budget passion-project with minimal polish. Bad voice acting? no problem. Interestingly,
the character Dominque had surprisingly good voice acting, but the main character and the mysterious masked apparition were pretty bad.
Now onto the game! The puzzles are mediocre. Again, they lack polish
the first puzzle with the lamps had comically bad physics, and the lamps just rustled around endlessly. Again, I signed up for this, so no problem!
. So if I like a little cheese, I just want some earnest mystery.. then why is the thumbs down? Because in the game you can basically hit a button to go to the inventory map. I really liked this idea, actually. Very cool! one of the more interesting inventory concepts! The problem was that I hit a point in the game
the sandstorm
where I tried to access my inventory and was blasted out of the map entirely. Henceforth, whenever I accessed the inventory I just fell into the void. This was effectively game-breaking! I could not inspect runes, clues. I could not 'restart', and so on. Then I was in a hallway and a door literally vanishes. I go to inspect and fall through the floor into the void. Now I hit tab and I warp back-and-forth from falling-out-of-the-map to falling-out-of-the-map. Not good. I can honestly state I did a non-hacky playthrough. I did not willfully attempt to glitch through walls or anything. I also didn't make it to some obscure or unexpected part of the map. I simply played the game normally and it broke pretty severely. Unfortunately, despite the effort of this team, I can't recommend spending money on something that will break, certainly. I hope the dev team sees this and fixes the problem. All your hard work is negated by bugs like that, unfortunately. Good QA is really important. Imagine you've played for a few hours and all your time is essentially undone, you'd also dislike that, and most players will react very negatively. I also applaud the overall atmosphere, and I can overlook the weaker elements of the game (like.. nothing moves or walks around? its a pretty static environment, really. Just prop repositionoing, nothing is alive.) Good luck and I hope you can return to this and give it more attention and polish.

Humm... ok. This is not a horror game. Just a scary setting. Reminds me a bit of Rise of Insanity, where you walk around trying to understand what happened. Thing is, the game is random. Doors don't lead you to the same place again. You just walk around, solve the puzzles, discover the secrets and... Try to get to the ending. Wihtout knowing it is going to happen. I'm still a bit confused by what i saw here. It doesn't mean the game is bad. For one who likes this kind of game, it's lack of 'hand holding' through the story is very interesting. I liked playing it, but it is a kind of game where, well... What just happened? And if you play again, you may still find new things, discover more of the story. Or not. It seens. Humm... It's refreshing and different from what we have around, so i definetely recommend if you like the terror-walking simulator-puzzle solving genre. Also, the game is well made. Reminds me a bit of those very strange horror games from the begining of the century. For real, it's cool. It's not also long and slow, it all depends on your puzzle solving abilities, and they are not that difficult, just pick stuff and put them in the right place. I liked the sounds. Overall, an intriguing experience. It's very cheap on sale, if you are in doubt. But it's worth a try. If you are easily scared, it's ok to play. I guess. No, i mean it. I liked playing it. Hope you can understand how i feel after playing the game with this review :)

Inner Voices is not a horror game. I guess, thirller is better word to describe it. Some screamers in the game are more like easter eggs (ones of many) than really important part of the athmosphere. Discovering of the John Blake's interior is not scary. The game based on making feeling of anxiety, confussion and mystery. Confussion, both John's and gamer's. Story is nice and not quite predictable. In fact, it's very ingenious. Sounds are great, and music gives me the creeps. However voice acting is at best "not bad", but John's voice is worst problem. Many times it just killed my immersion. The game looks good, but I'm disappointed by poor physics (motionless drawers are really pain) and elements like curtains, which acts like a wall. Oh, and cutscenes – seriously, cutscene looks fantastic, and show how great Inner Voices potential should be with bigger and more wealthy team. And how this potenitial was unused. But the most important part of Inner Voices are doors and random-generated locations. Creators made lots of various rooms and even more events happening randomly. When after a few hours playing you think you know the game inside out, suddenly a new, unexpected event can happen. This mechanics still has some bugs, but it's really, really fun to find all events and easter eggs.

This game is amogst the best indie games I have played. It scared the hell out of me more than once. This horror puzzle exploration game is really well made. It has an interesting story, and some very good scares. The atmosphere in this game is just fantastic. The grapics and sound is good quality and the game has a good replay value. I got this at 10% off, and I almost feel bad abut it. Only issue I have found so far is my Xbox one controller. The right stick is really slow, and I haven't found any settings in the game to fix it. But it's ok. I use my keyboard and mouse. I can't put down this game. Good job developers.

Let me start off with this: I was surprised with how much I like Inner Voices so far. From the description on Steam, to me it came off as more of an adventure/puzzle game first and foremost, with random horror elements thrown in here and there just as an after throught. After playing for a while, I can say that yes puzzle solving and exploration is a large part of this game, but from my experience so far, this is truly a horror story at it's core. You play as John Blake, and to make it out of the "realm" you are stuck in, you have to solve the mystery of your past, and how you ened up there. (You can't remember anything of course) The first thing to know is that the game's different areas are generated randomly. Open up the same door 4 times, you will get 4 different areas to explore. As such you can explore different areas of John's story at different times, depening on which areas you come across first. I recorded for an hour, and after realizing that the audio was messed up, started over, and had a completely different first 30 mins of the playthrough. Then I went to an area I had already been to, then after that, discovered another area I hadn't explored in my first playthrough. Pretty cool. This game is definitely more of a slow burn type of horror, than an in your face jump scare fest like say a Five Nights at Freddy's. With the randomness of the levels, the rate at which you will encounter scares will vary. My first playthrough it wasn't until practically 20 +mins in I was presented with my first HOLY SHIT moment. The second playthrough I literally took a single different turn and was immediately greated with a freaky scene. I don't mind this because it truly gives you a sense of dread and anticipation, because you never really know what lies around the next corner. Those that prefer more constant action may not like that approach though. Graphics are very good. Sound is A+. Voice acting and dialogue seems well done so far. My only complaints so far are interacting and rotating items feels just clunky, and the item interface can be wacky at times. Since you pick items up and hold them out infront of you to carry them (think like a VR game), your stuff can get lost in walls and door ways and disappear if you aren't careful. I lost an entire assult rilfe that way once. My advice is to keep whatever key items you are carrying close to your body, so they are less likely to dissappear into the abyss. Also don't just randomly drop things either, they can get lost that way as well. To fans of horror games that play out almost like a novel, this game should be right up your alley. I went in wondering how well it would hold my interest, and the answer was totally and completely. I'm going to include a game play video you can check out at the bottom if you are curious as to how the game looks/ controls. (Spoilers as some early game plot points are revealed in the video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xuu8EO4Nzk
