Expensive with no appeal. The intro video is terrible, and the text went so quickly I barely caught any of the words. Controls include WASD and the arrow keys, but spacebar is the jump button, which awkwardly leads to you falling to your death if you ever press W or the up arrow out of muscle memory when trying to jump. There's too many controls. Why are there slopes and shooting if you can't aim the gun? Your shots just go into the ground. Recharging energy turns out to be a gimmick that pointlessly added another button. A sprinting attack button was added, but you can barely see the level around you, so sprinting often just sends you to your death. The most unnecessary button is one that damages enemies if you land on them (for example after jumping) - why would it be fun to have to press that button? It's like firing a bullet, but the bullet only inflicts damage if you arbitrarily had to press an extra button after firing the gun. All the attacks are pointless when you can't harm the shield zombies, which only seem to be killed when a yellow star hits them from above (or weirdly when you stand so close to them that you can shoot them because your gun pokes through their shield). The jumps are too frustrating, as you need to do them perfectly, but the character slides on the slightest of gradients, and I died many times because I hit W or the up arrow out of muscle memory or because the jumps (and sprints) don't even work a lot of the time. You get shot from off-screen. Pointless turrets just kill the enemies for you half the time. It's not clear what you can stand on and what will cause you to fall through the map. Your view is often obscured by objects like trees for some reason. There's stars you're supposed to pick up, but your character will slide past them and can't move back up the level, so you'd have to restart the entire level. Why prevent the gameplay from flowing? It makes no sense to force the player to go backwards - especially going back so far. I have no idea why, but despite reaching the flag at the end of the level, you need to have killed all the enemies for it to end. Why does the game tell you that it's better to run away, and show artwork of running away from zombies if you're supposed to kill them all? They could have left the focus on collecting all the stars. Not only is it a chore to have to kill 100% of enemies, but if you knock one off the map it doesn't seem to die. Going back through the map to fruitlessly hunt for the last enemy is a nightmare because you can barely see anything when it's designed as a one-way system. You also end up going backwards because the level design confusingly forks both ways. Some of the achievements are broken, and the audio is poor - one of the tracks is the same as the menu music in 20 Minutes Till Dawn. There was clearly no optimization when this short platformer is over twice the disc size of Half-Life. The game doesn't have the quality, and isn't fun enough to be worth £1, let alone £10. Where's the originality? It's a butchered (and glitchy) copy of an original Mario game, except you play as Bart Simpson.

Every time I update this game my anti-virus deletes the main executable claiming it's a trojan called 'Trojan.Win32.Inject.afjnl' I had to replace the game executable with some other random application just so that I could complete the 5 minutes required for posting this review. On the plus side, the random executable I used was a Folding@Home installer, so now I'm helping advance medical science for the benefit of humanity.
Strongly average platformer
Charlie's Adventure is a simple platformer in which we play the role of Charlie who, by opening the box, released a horde of zombies into the world and his goal is to eliminate them.
Gameplay
As Charlie, we can jump, shoot a gun, move faster, and jump on zombies, dealing more damage to them. We have 12 levels at our disposal, unfortunately they are very similar to each other. The game offers a checkpoint system, so if we die we will be moved to the previous checkpoint. To unlock checkpoint we have to kill all zombies on the map. On each level we can collect stars that affect the result of each level. Apart from that, they have no function, so you don't have to collect them.
Graphics
Graphically, the game looks like this. At first glance it seems to be nice and pleasant, but if we take a better look it is not so good. It is not ugly graphics, but it is certainly not pretty.
Sound
Soundtrack is average. The music is not very annoying even though it is still the same.
Summary
Charlie's Adventure is almost an average game. Almost, because it's missing something. After I finish this game, I don't feel like playing it again. Despite the relatively low price, I think it should be cheaper. Really amazing 2D platformer. There's a bit of a story, the mechanics are great, not too difficult, not too easy, just amazing for its price.

4 hours to 100% it, 1€/hour. A plain, simple, bare, artless platformer. If you love platformers like I do it is worth to complete it because the short amount of time required. It would be hard to play it more time because the controls are awkward, even with a controller. Moreover, there are some achievements that requires you to perform some actions several more times than you do while completing the game. In summary: There are hundreds of better platformers, but if you want to try it this is an easy one to complete and uninstall.

The game wasn't exactly enjoyable and it has alot of bugs. The most common that I saw being the Ax trap in later levels detaching from its axis point and just floating into the abyss. The gameplay is flat and the controls are rather poor with keys being bound to A and D for attack forcing you to use the arrow keys as movement.

Another mediocre platformer at best. Everything feels janky/buggy and it's very hard to see anything important because of the environment. Avoid this one. You'll be better off.

Charlie's Adventure + A certain sort of charm to the character sprites and animations and the cut scenes + Solid platforming action + Spooky music – A bit boring; doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary – A couple of small problems make it more frustrating than it should be Charlie's Adventure is a solid indie platformer that fans of the genre should enjoy. It doesn't bring anything revelatory to the genre, but it gets the basics right.

After giving this game quite the fair chance, I have decided it's just not a good game. It has some charm and I like the music, but the actual gameplay ruins what could be a nice simple platformer. Poor camera centering makes this game frustrating and nauseating at times, and bugs make it ridiculously hair-pulling if you want to finish the game. My favorite among these bugs is when the axe traps just float off into space, where they can either hit you where they shouldn't be or alternatively they might randomly snap back into place, usually as you're walking through the empty trap area. Especially toward the end of the game this bug in particular can really ruin the gameplay.

When I open the game it is called SpaceeZombies and not Charlie's Adventure. The game probably changed name during production but someone who had to change this detail didn't do his job... I guess this explains a lot of thing about this game. First thing first, if you are a game developer and feel the need to create some platformer style game like this one, make sure to center properly the action on the character that the player is going to play with and refrain from making some "half-baked" setup that makes the screen jerk right, left, up and down every time you jump a little bit too far making the game practically impossible to enjoy... It's annoying. Second thing, do not overload the screen with visual content that hide the character when you go forward or other foreground elements that we can live without... It is not needed. Third thing, do not add cannons and turrets just for the sake of adding some weird difficulty layer to your game if it does not make any shred of sense... It is illogical. Finally, do not attempt to burn the retina of the players by overusing bloom and light effects... It burns. I will conclude this review by saying that I understand that this game was a labor of love for whoever made it but I wonder if you had more fun creating or contemplating the end result.
