7.5/10. An OELVN (or OR(ussian)LVN?) with gameplay that doesn't feel like it's trying to be Japanese. There are a lot of interesting elements, though sadly they aren't developed completely. The story has an interesting twist, though, that makes the ending feel interesting even if it's kind of a downer. Technical details/presentation: Pretty standard for a VN, nothing special to declare here. Gameplay: There's actually a few pieces of gameplay here. There are a couple of instances where the character mentions "hacking" something, and a puzzle pops up. There's also a short "point-and-click" adventure game section. Neither of these are required, however; you can progress past them and the game maneuvers around your solving/not solving the puzzle fairly quickly. Still, it's an interesting touch. Story: A post-apocalyptic landscape where the MC is part of a band of desert nomads. The story involves their attempts to secure safety and sustenance, shifting over time to a more intrigue-based focus. There are a number of girls the MC can have sex with, but there aren't "routes" per se (though there ARE a number of choices you can make that affect whether you get bad, neutral, or "good" endings (there's really no happy ending here). The writing is somewhat weak. Near the beginning the MC is there when another character is found in a capsule. He doesn't interact with her really at all. The next time she "appears," the MC is talking with another character (one completely unrelated to everything that happens at the beginning) and says her name along with a few other things about her it doesn't seem like he should know (and I myself didn't know). At another point, a character appears in the story for the first time, but is treated as though she's been in the group forever (and AFTER she appears there are references to times BEFORE she appeared when the group should have been discussing her, but that never happened). The "lore" presented is pretty interesting, but it's a mixed bag whether they do anything with it: the very first scene in the story is somewhat mystical, and while the story talks about it a fair bit, it never means anything in terms of what happens in the plot or what motivates the characters. I found the main plot (or rather the end of the plot--the twist and climax) pretty interesting, though. All in all if you're interested in an action story with both mythical and sci-fi elements, give this a shot.

Absolutely not. The world itself is great, and with so much incredible potential. Yet the story and dialogue are terrible, and sometimes incoherent. Characters are all over the place. And the writing goes so fast it's as if they just had ideas and kept writing the idea down instead of meaningful dialogue or trying to make the story flow.

i think it has great artwork as well as music. there are some mini games that you can play but have no bearing on the game except posters.

Was a bit sceptical at first, but all and all its a quality game. Now i don't have really any experience with Visual Novels but i have to say this has definitely put the genre on my radar. There is a couple minor issues though, sometimes the translations for metaphors, obscenities and the like come out a tad incorrect, though i haven't yet reached a stage where i don't at least somewhat grasp whats trying to be said. Though it is a large VN and massive props to the translator for their general accuracy. Also sometimes the plot seems to jump without explanation though i dont think it massively affects the experience. All and all the characters are lovable and the game is made to an extremely good quality. Defiantly worth the full price if not more, and i would heartily recommend this to people new to the genre or looking for a good but cheap game.

Nice story with spices. Some plotholes here or there, but overall a pleasant experience. I am not a fan of multiple endings requiring backtracking save games, but it is a part of the genre, so I do not complain. Minigames are a nice addition. The world is interesting and could easily be a place for a different genre or another story.

yet another game that makes me cheer on the Underdog Indie developers of the world, clearly created by a team that doesn't have English as a primary language, the game looks good, is interesting so far, and is a Sci-Fi visual novel-ish title... the developers seem to understand the concept of fanservice, making sure that all the right subtl animations take place... (You know what mean, all you guys and gals that love the ladies) I'll give him more detailed spoiler-free breakdown of the game after I complete it, but I wanted to make my positive impression of it thus far known and give the game of thumbs up. With these types of games, there's always a certain... "patch", that the community wants.... look at the discussion board for any visual novel and you will see at least one thread requesting it. in a move that can only be described as infinitely cool, the developers of a satellite built this feature into the game... no aftermarket patch to purchase, no downloading of questionable zip files from dubious websites... the player need only enter a CODE from the gallery screen in a method I will not disclose here, but instead direct you to the discussions if you are interested. If you have been a lifelong fan of video games, you probably know that there are two codes out there that have become synonymous with classic gameplay. 1. "UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A SELECT START" And my personal favorite.. 2. "IDDQD" I feel that if I explain the respective codes, it will take away some of the magic that surrounds them and their Origins. In this context the use of that particular code and its related use in Satellite is absolutely awesome on a meta level and an excellent way for the developers to let their audience know, that they come from Among Us and share our love of Gaming. Very Cool.

I came upon this Visual Novel by a happy accident and I'm glad I did. It's amazing what you can find on steam sometimes. Sci-Fi VNs are few and far between on steam as this piqued my curiosity. First off. The story takes place on a future earth or another planet. I'm going with the latter. The action/battle parts are cleverly done, some parts of the story have their own animations along with what the author is describing with the text parts. I found that pretty amazing since no other VNs have done that before. The fusion of those two elements kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to read more. The story does have some erotic stuff in it to keep things interesting. The mini-games are minimalistic but fun to play and those are also tied in with the story. You can play them just for fun as soon as you unlock them. And best of all, the music is good. Really good. The title theme is the first thing that drew me in and it is awesome. it's the most unique music I have ever heard. Even though I don't know russian, I still love the song. the rest of the music is good too setting the atmosphere in the story at just the right moments. The only downside I can think of is that the story can get a little vague sometimes. But that's what the power of imagination is for allowing you to put 2 and 2 together on your own. So overall, Satellite is a really good Sci-fi VN. (At least for me) It's Sci-Fi with lots of action, girls, interesting story, mini-games, and great music. I highly recommend this to all of you who are looking for a good Sci-Fi VN. Now I'm going back to read the rest to see what kind of endings are in store.

Satellite is an adventure based science fiction visual novel developed by 7DOTS, Rock Frog and published by 7DOTS, Angry games, RuVN. The title follows the adventures of Rian Rico and a band of misfits who travel through a post-apocalyptic desert in a quest for survival and a place to truly call home. This fantastic journey of enlightenment will take Rian through the midst of political intrigue, war , love, betrayal and friendship as he takes his first steps away from being a fragile young boy towards a confident man in charge of his own destiny..."Don't call me kid!". This intriguing visual novel has a science fiction theme which seems to be one of the least available V.N. themes on Steam so that alone was worth the price of admission for me. Prepare yourself to go on a wonderful and highly interactive adventure in this nicely written narrative. Visually, this V.N. has a wonderful presentation featuring not just beautiful artwork but animated illustrations and backgrounds as well as a great use of mini-games perfectly incorporated into the storyline. For example, if there is a scene with Rian getting into a car chase with someone you don't just read about it you see it unfold before your eyes with very cute animated sequences with vehicles and sound effects as well. If you have to hack an electronic lock in order to gain access to a room then one of five possible mini-games pops up which you must then interact with in order to accomplish this. It all blends together quite nicely and really serves well to immerse you within the narrative. I love it when visual novels incorporate some type of gameplay into the storyline and it's a shame that it doesn't happen very often. Other than "Ace Academy" I've not come across another V.N. that does anything remotely like this so it's a really nice touch presentation-wise and I for one would love to see other visual novels feature this aspect. With that said, the artwork is absolutely gorgeous and filled with lush vibrant colors that are very pleasing to the eye. The characters blink their eyes and respond with facial changes depending on their emotions as they speak. There are also many ambient sounds present which really add to the immersiveness of the visual novel experience in my opinion like little noises in the background such as doors opening and closing or the sound of people chattering as you're sitting in a restaurant and things such as this. Maybe not necessarily those sounds in general but you get the idea of what I mean by ambient sounds like if the story says that Rian crashes through a window then you will hear a crashing sound as you read the dialogue for example. I always find small details like this highly entertaining while reading a visual novel as they often serve to connect you even more to the story. Aurally, the V.N. also manages to impress with crisp, high fidelity sound effects and a fantastic musical score that blends in very well with the storyline. Fair warning though as there are a few explicit scenes and situations in the novel so if you're bashful then beware. To summarize, this development team manages to put forth an exceptional presentation both visually and aurally to compliment the terrific adventure that you experience in this very impressive visual novel. Like I mentioned eariler, since most of the visual novels that I have read on Steam thus far have been been fantasy based or taking place in present day I truly love it when I finally come across a science fiction themed V.N. which, regrettably, are in short supply these days I'm sorry to say. I really enjoyed the adventure that Satellite takes you on from the start to the very end with the compelling narrative, beautiful artwork, highly entertaining animated sequences and very fun mini-games. This visual novel manages quite well to give you the reader a terrific experience with all those qualities combined as opposed to many other V.N.'s which don't offer half the content. There's even a clock which displays real time in the dialogue window so you can keep track of just how long you've been reading which is also something that I've not seen implemented in any other visual novel. Additionally, there are a few decisions to make over the course of the story so that is a welcome addition and really helps with replayability. The only problems that I came accross were a few typos and a couple of sentences of text that was not translated into english so I had no idea what was said in them. But other than those issues my experience was relatively problem free with this visual novel. Option-wise, there are an abundance of Steam Achievements to hunt down but sadly no Steam Trading Cards to collect. There are the basic options for sound/music volume as well as text speed, language selection, an unlockable C.G. Gallery, a collectible room for special items that you find while progressing through the story and a music mode which features a collection of 40 tracks for your listening pleasure. In conclusion, if you are looking for a fun thoroughly interactive science fiction visual novel that takes you on an amazing adventure then look no further because Satellite is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to any fan of the genre.
