Picked it up on sale, and have already got a lot out of it for the money, as I close in on the last few missions. Once the controls click, it feels pretty good hauling heavy cargo, which you have to be a bit gentle with or it can upend your chopper, navigating caverns, and making quick, precise landings. Auto-targeting means the AI will occasionally leave some AA unit alive at the end of a strafing run, or burn through too much ammo. Which can be frustrating, but hasn't blocked my progress. There is a forgiving in-mission checkpoint system, in the form of LZs scattered around the maps, but completionists will want all the stars for completing missions under par time and without being shot down, for which they'll want to rely on these landing zones less. For the rest of us, there are more than enough stars to earn, playing normally and repeating only a subset of the missions, with better choppers, to unlock all the missions. And getting all the helicopters and weapons does not require any engagement with the collectible dogtags, though you'll need those if you want to fly around in a UFO. Fun little game to pick up and play for a bit, or maybe to tear through in 6 to 8 hours. Verdict - Eight and a half valkyries out of ten. Would ride again.

If you loved the first, you'll like this one as well. The controls are good, just don't forget to re-assign them. The basic key bindings are not the best.

This game is an absolute masterpiece. I would not be able to finish complimenting the creators. They have done a super job. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay stupendous and generally Breathtaking. This game is worth the price one pays.

EDIT : Almost 2 months since I reported a few problems (including 3 achievements not unlocking), and 1.5 months since the last post from a dev. Changing this review to negative until I see any evidence that this game is actually still alive. EDIT2 : After 3 months of silence, the game is back on track, with a new update (on beta at the time I'm writing this, but should be released quickly), which fixed the last 3 achievements not unlocking and a texture problem on level 30 (and probably other things, but I don't have time anymore to retest everything). So this review goes back to "recommended" :) I had great fun with the first one (review over here : http://steamcommunity.com/id/merfab76/recommended/341730/) and so far, after 5 hours and nearly half-game I think, I have as much fun with this one. This early access is very polished, and from what I can tell, the game is pretty much complete. I don't know what the devs have planned (apparently VR support ?), it could have easily been a release instead of an early access, it seems. Almost everything I said on the review of the first one is still valid for this one (I have the feeling this one is a bit more difficult than the previous, though), if you want a little more details, here's the feedback I sent on the forums : http://steamcommunity.com/app/553690/discussions/0/154644787617726234/

This game reminds me of choplifter and Rescue Raiders from the old days. Would like a little more options in missions instead of a single path. Would like to see more of a Rescue Raiders RTS type of gameplay but it still is pretty fun with just the missions. Love the pixelated voxel graphics.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Xbox One controller
Meh. That's my opinion of this game. It's not an awful game, but it gets very repetitive & grindy pretty quickly. And there's never an evolution. It's just a matter of controlling your helicopter in the air and trying not to take much damage ... and you either do or don't have enough firepower upgrades to complete the mission. That's the disappointing part of this game. Missions can be very easy ... if you go back to prior missions and upgrade your arsenal. Then you'll be destroying enemies below. Well, not you but the autofire on your helicopter will. All you're really doing is piloting the heli. And by piloting we mean controlling how high or low in the air it goes and how fast you're going sideways. That's really all the controls you have. The rest is just upgrades that you need to progress and the autofire doing its thing. Does that sound fun? I'm glad I only paid $2.49. I think I got 1 hour worth of entertainment. Then I trudged on for an additional hour hoping something would change. But nope, just more grinding necessary to complete levels. There are nice upgrades. That's probably the best thing about this game ... new helis and turrets & missiles to get. Still, I don't think that's enough. Close call, but I'm going to have to say no recommendation. Rate 4.5/10. Probably would have voted yes recommendation if this had been a .99 cents mobile VR game.

eh. what can i say about this game, outside VR this game was pretty fun to casually kill time, but in VR it looks kind of like crap. it seems like a quick cash in on the whole VR wave. if it was built for VR then i might think differently about this game but i cant recommend this game if youre looking for a nice VR title. play it in 2D
★☆☆☆☆
I refunded the game for several reasons. First, this game isn't even optimised well for PC. I can run games like Doom and Battlefront perfectly fine, but this small thing stutters. Another problem is the hedious UI, which screams that this game was MEANT for a mobile device. Which brings me to my biggest argument to avoid this steam port: the game is FREE on iOS. It is baffling they ask 15 euros for it here, or even just for 3,50 during a sale. The game even runs better on my Iphone 5! The grindy nature of the game - which is farming coins to get better weapons and heli's to be atleast competent halfway into the game - better suits small bursts of gameplay while you wait on the bus or something. As for the game itself, I already adressed the repetitive nature of it, but I should also write about the overly simplistic controls. It's not analog, and far too limiting in your options when it comes to movement and engaging combat. The weirdest choice the dev has made, has to be the inability to fire on command. As of right now, your heli automaticly fires at nearby enemies, but considering that your ammo can run out and that you have to spent coins to get more ammo, really seems unfair for those just trying to save money to get better equipement. I did recommend the first game, especially since I bought it on Steam for only 60 cents, but paying anything more than zero cents for this doesn't seem right to me.
