Today I can say that this game is very good. I was hooked from the first game and in this second game of the series, is even better!
As for the negative comments, I can't agree with them at all, since I enjoyed it immensely. I understand that their comments were made years ago, which is why I'm here today, on the day I'm writing this, to give my point of view and my experience with the game.
The controls are simple but very original. Each helicopter has its own handling; the heavier it is, the more difficult it is to handle. I recommend playing with a controller for a better experience (I played with an XBOX controller and a Nintendo Pro Controller). In addition, you can control when you want to fire the helicopter's weapons and when you don't; there is a button for that. You can also choose your own weapons for the helicopter for each mission, and at the same time, there are specific helicopters for each mission. As you progress through the game, you will unlock more helicopters with their respective characteristics.
Regarding the “poor optimization of the PC port of the game,” that is false. On my computer, I was able to run the game at very good FPS at all times. At no point did I experience a drop in FPS or lag; I found it to be very smooth and consistent in terms of frames.
On the other hand, I don't think the “repetitive nature of the game” was much of a problem, because each new level felt unique. Yes, I can mention that there aren't many new enemies, but they are always positioned differently, forcing you to find a different strategy for each level. Likewise, the landscapes on each level are really beautiful, in my opinion! (In addition, it is very cute to see how the little soldiers do different activities at your base.) I understand that the textures are similar to Minecraft, but the devs really polished it up to make it their own, with very beautiful pixelated stages. On the other hand, we find a short story, not very deep, but each level reveals small details about it, ending with a boss, something I didn't expect to find in this game. Very good battle, not too difficult but within reason, very enjoyable.
In terms of the game's difficulty, it's challenging to find all the hidden badges in each level, and it will take you a while to get all 3 stars. It's not impossible like Dark Souls, but it will keep you hooked. The same goes for the achievements.
Regarding VR, I can't add much to the topic, since I don't own this accessory. So I can't give an accurate opinion on it.
To conclude, in a nutshell, the game is definitely worth it. Buy it, and not just this one, but also the first game in the series. It will keep you entertained for hours, and you'll enjoy the pixelated style of its different environments and details. I highly recommend it.
Finally, I want to say something to the developers of this series, who I hope will read this message from a humble fan. *PLEASE MAKE A THIRD PART OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SAGA*. There are many new features that you can add and implement in the third part. More levels, more helicopters, more scenarios, more and new enemies, more bosses, more weapons, more game modes, even a multiplayer mode, even adding a story, a deeper campaign now with a protagonist and good characters and much more. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I hope it can become a reality.
That's all from me. I hope I have explained myself clearly, as I am writing this with a translator, since English is not my native language. Thank you for reading, God bless you all.
