The conversations are nice, I guess? And you'd probably have to micromanage some stuff at higher difficulty levels, if you're into that sort of thing. . . . Those are really the only positive thing I have to say about this game.
Gameplay loop is mostly boring to the extent that it exists at all. Art is not particularly inspired. No real plot.
If you really like this sort of thing, I guess you'll like it by definition, but that tautology is hardly a recommendation to anyone else.

Well the game mix too much stuff. It make me feel like a bunch of separate topping in pot and it won't fit to each other. It still fun to play but be aware that this one should only buy when sale and you may abandon it in short time playing.

Ever play one of those pandemic games where you spend the whole time upgrading a Virus/Bacteria/Etc to conquer and destroy the world? Same concept except with cutesy tattooed girls and gang wars to unite Tokyo. It's not bad, but I don't recommend buying it at full price, you'll feel like you paid too much.

Not bad for 2,5 dollars (in my region). For me as a fan of Japanese tattoo culture it was good find (unfortunately, there were no anime and games on this topic until this moment). In addition: excellent art, voice acting, characters, dialogues, 6 diffrent routs, replay value. The gameplay is not as interesting as it could be, but he is not stressful and may help kill time. Story is not brilliant but intriguing.
So If you are interested in a similar topic and love beautiful, stress-free 2d games, ignore negative reviews and buy this game.

This is an interesting game. Basically, you control a tattoo artist who finds a girl who wants to escape a ruined Tokyo, and to do so needs to take out the leaders of all the wards. Gameplay basically consists of you making orders and trying to keep her honor up, while also earning enough coin to add to her tattoo. And if you complete the entire thing, it is... impressive. and gives you a unique ability (as well as another unique tattoo/ability showing up earlier).
Beyond that... there isn't much to the game. I mean there is an interesting backstory, and dialogue for each character, but... it really is mostly management.

There was no strategy gameplay. I was really excited to see some battle scenes or battle gameplay whatsoever. Unfortunately as many comments already states.
This seems like an unfinished game pushed to be released early. I think this game deserves a renovation of the gameplay. The graphic and the voice acting is impecable. Amazing but why is the gameplay horrible?

This is a great game for anyone who wants to take up a challenge. I've had this game in my library for like 2 years and never bothered to play it till now, but now that I've played it, I can say it's genuinely fun, though it's probably because I haven't played any other game like this. It's very sad to see such a good game get such bad reviews and I'd like to say to the people who see this game that you should give it a try if you have the chance and money.
The gameplay in the game is relatively simple once you get used to it, you just level up skills and wait to see what the RNG gods decide to do to you. Normal is a very simple difficulty to start on and is almost impossible to fail, but once you get up to hard and hell mode, you will start having difficulty managing all of your resources correctly. That's when you start having fun though, since hard mode and hell mode are actually hard not because of challenging mechanics and what-not, it's because of the RNG. Once you start getting good runs and actually passing the modes, you gain a sense of satisfaction hitting the S rank with each character. Another fun part of the game is each character. Depending on which character you choose, their skill set and different tattoos will greatly effect the gameplay. What's enjoyable about the different characters are how each have their own unique play style and how if you're going for achievements, you will have a different experience every time.
That's it for my review, and if you are reading this within a week I posted this, I'm sorry for having such a low play time, since I did just start playing it today. If you decide to get this game, I hope you will give it longer than 1-2 hours and challenge yourself by playing the harder game modes (you haven't gotten a true taste of the experience until you've cleared hell mode once). Good luck, have fun!

Since there is no "Neutral" recommendation, I will recommend the game with a major caveat: Buy it only when it is on sale for dirt cheap. I got this as part of the Nisa bundle during the Nisa sale, so it was a bit cheaper than $2, and that is about what it is worth imo. There is no strategy except for making sure your honor meter doesnt hit zero (which can happen only if you are absolutely careless and dont even try to do anything). This is the gameplay loop in a nutshell: click on briefcases for money and sirens to remove alert, use the money for tattoos and to lower alert or cease fire in areas, then wait until a boss "fight" occurs, repeat. There isnt a fight so much as a dialogue option that determines honor recovery. My play time is roughly how long it takes to beat a single round on normal. If you are an achievement hunter, be prepared to grind each character 8 times.
This is a good "turn your brain off" game in case you need something to help you sleep. Im glad my BDSM game came with a free sleep aid.

While I'm interested in running a few more characters before calling it quits, one complete run is enough to put down my thoughts. This is a fully deserved mixed review, and I feel bad giving it a thumbs down but its also not something I'd recommend out of the blue to anyone.
*Special thanks to the below review that called it Plague Inc. The tutorial sucked and I may have missed out on what this game was trying to do if I didn't go in with this expectation*
The basic idea is that you are a legendary tattoo artist who is going to help a girl to reunite the ruins of Tokyo under one ruler. To do this, you send her into a ward to convert Punks and rival clansman into your own followers. Convert enough population and she'll duel the leader of the district and take control. Meanwhile, your followers will move out spread out around Tokyo and recruit people to your cause.
Your job, as the legendary tattoo artist, is to assemble a tattoo that appeals to the various people of Tokyo. The better your tattoo matches the locals the faster they'll join your cause and the more your control will spread. (Or you can spend your money on other temporary power ups like preventing turf wars, recruiting faster, or buying cheat dice for gambling)
The concept, while crazy, actually kind of works. It plays like an ultra-casual Plague Inc and there's a strange satisfaction watching the followers spread out around the town. It's a moderately tense situation to see aggression brewing in a district and deciding the best way to prevent war.
But everything I like here is overshadowed by a complete and total lack of depth.
- Match the tattoo to the traits of the cities you're settled into to speed growth
- The rival syndicate doesn't really disrupt your plans or close off the borders like Plague Inc, but simply take a shot at your HP bar if they attack
- The climactic duels are automatic win the only choice being a 1 in 3 choice that determines your reward for winning
- The Tattoo is preset and you complete the entire thing in a single game, meaning that it's lacking that replay value or feeling of "What if I?"
I genuinely like whats here, but there is a constant feeling that something is lacking. More meaningful growth, more direct control of armies, an opponent that retakes territory or builds defenses against your specialties, an active option to duel that has a higher chance to win depending on how your outnumber your opponent.
I can think of a dozen different little ways that they could have made this experience more meaningful... but, as is, it falls short.

I believe the biggest problem of Tokyo Tattoo girls is it's advertisement. How many of you really knew what you were getting when you bought this game? Did you think you were getting a strategy game similar to Plague Inc.? Not likely. I sure didn't. Before you buy it, all the screens and videos look like this is an eroge visual novel. While it's a bit fan-servicy (all the characters in the game are cute girls and you get to tattoo their backs) it's nowhere near an eroge and the stories are way too shallow and lame to be called a visual novel.
As an alternative to Plague Inc. imbedded with Japanses Yakuza culture it's pretty damn decent though.
But then... it's fun for about 2 hours. Most people will have been able to beat one route within that time and there's no real reason to continue. I don't know how to unlock higher difficulties but seeing as I have completed several games and still haven't unlocked them I'm pretty sure it's not worth my time. The game is too repetitive for that.
I don't understand how Plague Inc. gets such good reviews and Tokyo Tattoo girls gets bad reviews though.
While I can't really strongly recommend the game to anyone. Certainly not at 20 euros (I normally don't like to include prices in my reviews but come on, this is too much even for me!) but I can't give it a negative review here because it's simply not a bad game and there are way worse ways to spend a few hours.
