Quite possibly the dullest half hour I have ever had to endure, that's my will to live and the Carsons disappeared.

This game could be a lot more than what it is. Unfortunately it simply ended up as one of the most boring "games" where you can't do anything and nothing really happens. Also, those spaced out 'scary' parts are just not enough to keep anyone away from falling asleep. The voices are great tho.

This experience is sooo good! I couldn't get through it yet. I quit after about 15-20 minutes and I'm a grown man lol. Very good transitions between scares with just enough breathing room to keep the tension going. The only negative would be the scale is a little off, but the direction, models, animation, and atmosphere make up for it. For two dollars it's a steal. Horrifying and I love it!! 4/5

A real must for anyone who likes VR Horror! Great experience for anyone new to VR as the experience is very comfortable (except for the horror parts ofcourse ;) ) Dev is very receptive and listens to feedback and ideas and acts on them which is very refreshing. Perfect timing for my Halloween party, I'm sure it will be the star of the show!

Not bad, not great. It was kind of like those scare house rides some theme parks have, except you aren't in a moving tram thing. Game was about 25 mins long which isn't terrible since I only paid like 2 dollars. The scale was way off for me, and I was floating way above the chair (I started the game sitting down as suggested), but it was still enjoyable enough.

If you look at this more like an animated horror film with about a half hour running time, it's well worth the asking price. I'm not sure why the husband never runs for it though. The first few things that happen could be written off, but seriously, most people, including me would have booked it. The clown doll was unique and the story line could be read several different ways. But where and why does someone get creepy life-sized dolls? How would a realtor sell a home with those assets to anyone who has seen even one horror movie? Still it's a clear tribute to at least one horror film and not half bad for its age.

Extremely boring passive experience. This experience has you sitting in a chair while events unfold around you. Unfortunately, said events are not very scary and the whole thing is rather boring. There are moments where absolutely nothing happens for minutes. After a couple of these instances I had to fight the urge to just quit, but I kept hoping things would get more interesting. Perhaps the waiting had some sort of meaning or perhaps it was there to build suspense. Boy was I wrong. Graphically, it just isn't very impressive either. Ugly models and textures only enhanced the feeling of detachment I already felt from the world and its story. What bothered me most was that everything was out of proportion, just way too big. I felt like a bored toddler in a very ugly living room. Really wish I could get back the time I wasted on this.

Picked this up earlier while at my dads. I enjoyed it, and so did he. We got around an hours worth for €2 so I cant complain. Eerie atmosphere and some parts that were genuinely creepy.

Good story, good concept but the lack of quality animations for the "main character" and the dog ruined it for me. It turned out better than I thought that I have to sit around and wait for events to happen, was like a interactive "movie" but like I say the character work should have been much better.
Played On: HTC Vive
The Night the Carsons Disappeared is a horror "movie" that lasts about half an hour. Without spoiling the experience and giving too much away, it explores the mysterious and still unexplained 2009 disappearance of Katie Carson's husband, Michael, and her two children in Richmond, Ontario Canada. All in all, it takes elements from horror classics such as The Amityville Horror, Paranormal Activity, and The Strangers. Since you, the viewer, are playing as Michael Carson, you will be seated in the living room of the family home. Keep in mind that this is the non-interactive version of the game, and therefore you will just be observing your surroundings. Around you, strange and disturbing events slowly unfold in both audio and visual form. Depending on how easily you scare, there's a good chance that you may quit before the entire duration is up. Thankfully, there are no heart attack inducing jumpscares, but rather a combination of subtle and in-your-face moments of terror. There are a few downsides to The Night the Carsons Disappeared, and most of them are pretty major immersion breakers. Many times throughout the experience the audio plays through the wrong speaker channel; for instance, a door opens to the right of you but the sound of it opening comes through the left speaker. There are also many situations where it seems to take minutes for the next event to start happening. Additionally, the graphics are really, really terrible even by low standards,
especially where the character and dog models are concerned
. For a buck, The Night the Carsons Disappeared isn't awful by any means. It has a lot of potential and room to grow, and hopefully the developer can iron out some of the aformentioned issues prior to the release of the interactive version. The set up for the story is highly believable, and I actually searched to see if it was based off a true story. For what it is, and for the price, grab it if you enjoy some mild scares.
