Games that are developed by just one person always deserve special praise and this is one of them. Blink the Bulb is a clear homage to the Sega Genesis and is very faithful to the limitations of that system. The vibrant graphics in particular are very appealing and give each level a unique charm. A strong point of this game is the level design. Each level is fairly large and offers many different paths to the end. Levels also change depending on the day/night system, which adds even more to replayability. The combat is fairly straightforward and mostly involves charging up shots to shoot at enemies. Getting past regular enemies is pretty easy, but the bosses at the end of each level provide a decent challenge. There is also an inventory system and I appreciated the variety of passive bonuses that can be accumulated throughout the game. For a free game the standard of quality is remarkably good - if it came out 25 years ago I am sure it would be considered a classic. My first playthrough took a little over an hour, which may be short by today's standards, but very suitable for an old-fashioned game like this. As someone who grew up with a Genesis this was a real treat to play. I hope the developer will have more games coming in the future.

This game is awesome. It reminds me so much of my childhood when I played games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Ristar (I had those Mega Collection games, so I could play them on my Xbox 360.) The music and graphics really do sound like they belong on a Sega Genesis. You should get this is if you like games like that.

Great retro platformer game! Very colorful and very fun with some old friends who you remember playing these old timey games with!

It's not that I think this game is bad, it's just... Not great. There's some good ideas here and there, but I couldn't enjoy it much. The bosses are either ridiculously easy, or really hard, there's no balance. Each level are made with multiples routes in mind, making each possible run unique. That's good, but, I don'T know how many times I died because I didn't know one thing was hurting me. The enemy placement is quite atrocious, I died way too many times because I couldn't see an enemy or some spikes. I was really getting frustrated by it, especially when there's no hint if I'll die if I miss this jump, of if I need to go down and then right before touching the ground. It's fun for a while, not for a single session.

Exploration, platform, difficult, very much so. Difficult to manage inertia. layed 30', not for me, very good for hardcore players. Free (in the good meanings of the word). SuNo
