Ahhh... scary...
I'm being sarcastic. I mean really? oh noes the teddy bears are evil. It's presumably a knock off of Freddy's and boring.

The only description of this game via Steam is "Keep her calm. Keep her safe. Keep her in the light." What does this mean?
Shut Eye is a first-person perspective, survival horror, game where the creeps and spooks take place in a childs bedroom. It's not so creepy until the bears get you.

Eh, it's fun enough for what it is.
You're a child in bed at night and you have to run the clock down to the morning whilst fending off evil teddy bears flooding in from each corner of your room armed only with a flashlight with a short battery life (that isn't rechargeable), and a music box. You also have to manage an anxiety meter which creeps up over time, which can be paused through use of the music box, or reduced by taking time out to look under your bed or on the top bunk, which gives a chance for the bears to creep up on you. So it's that balance you have to strike. At least it appears so at first. But you'lI find that reducing the anxiety meter rarely exposes you to danger, which does reduce the degree of risk you'll feel you are taking in your head.
The other problem with the game is that it never really escalates beyond having to survive for a slightly longer night as the nights go on. The bears don't really change up their behaviour as you go. Maybe they're slightly more agressive in later nights, but it's hardly noticeable, except maybe the last night. But once you get the hang of it, that extra hour or two isn't really noticeable so you'll find the game gets easier as you go.
Definitely not worth full price but worth a look on sale if you fancy an hour and a half of pretty solid tension.

I really wanted to like this game, I really, really did. First of all, you're getting what is called a 'tutorial', but it's basically just a screen prompt of the function keys and you're thrown right on in. You don't even get time to really look at the scheme of things, because the night is rolling on in the background. It's a good concept for a game-- I guess. A little too familiar to a certain Fazbear game, but I can see the appeal. A proper tutorial and a little bit of direction as to what you're exactly trying to accomplish would warrant a recommendation. But, as it stands, I can't recommend paying money for this.

I feel quite indifferent towards this game. It's not that scary, quite simplistic, functional, and basic. It doesn't have any technical problems - everything works, the sound is ok, the design in all right, but that's just it. It works but that's really all it does well. It's not really fun, it's not really boring, it's just there. I can't really explain it. I wish I could just give this a sideways "I don't really care either way." review. 5/10

I don't know what exactly that is, but as a serious game it doesn't go through anyway. Neither the tag "indie" nor the reduced price (0,49€) can change that. The game principle? Press a few buttons and keep your anxiety bar low so that a teddy bear doesn't hop on your bed to show you the game over screen. Relatively simple Achievements, but you have to bring along nerves like wire ropes... so that you don't fall asleep in between. Recommendation? Hell no, it's a clear game over here.

The game started out as a decent idea. You play as a girl who has severe social anxiety, and you're trying to reassure yourself everything is alright, and if you don't, you go insane and die. However, the execution just isn't there. This game feels like it's solely based on chance. The game doesn't explain what exactly you have to do, except give you meager instructions to decrease your anxiety. The only problem is, you can still die, even when your anxiety is at 0/100. In the first level the girl says the light and music box keeps you sane. Well, when the teddy's start coming, you can shine the light at them, while listening to the box all you want with 0 anxiety, and if it feels like it, it's gonna kill you. And this is on the first level, out of 7. The game play is just way to difficult. And if there is correct way to play, it's impossible to figure out what it is. If you want to see what the game is like for yourself, feel free to check out my little gameplay on it!

Bah. No, just no.
This game offers way too little control to make it through the night, and it feels like nothing more than a game of "chance" and RNG (Random Number Generation) that determines the outcome. The jump scares are NOT scary, just obnoxious.
If you want a good FNAF style game that gives you actual control and a game where you feel like what you do actually matters? Then play "Night Blight" for the same price on Steam, or look up Boogey Man, both games are 10x better then this half baked RNG jump scare simulator that feels like it's only out to try and leech off the success of the FNAF popularity.
2 out of 10. Fail. There's simply MUCH better games like this on Steam for the same price or less. Please support the indie developers who actually deserve your money over devs that just pop out obvious FNAF success leechers like this.

I had mixed feelings when starting up Shut Eye as I had already played Hush Interactive's previous title called The Dolls. I gave it a negative review emphasising the unnecessary republishing of a title that borrowed so much from Five Nights at Freddy's. The changes employed in the newly released game (now titled Reborn) I simply could not accept.
The concept of Shut Eye is pretty much identical to that of Five Nights at Freddy's. Instead of an office, however, we are bound to our bed (the protagonist is a child) desperate to protect ourselves from the approaching teddy bears. Interestingly, while the flashlight allows us to keep them at bay there's a greater emphasis on reducing our anxiety level. We can do this by regularly checking for bears under and above our bed, plus, switching on the light that illuminates the porch.
Overall we have 8 nights to survive (from 12:00 till 7 AM) and while decreasing the anxiety level is a must playing our music box frequently (and later rewinding it) is also important. This toy allows us to maintain our anxiety level. Various audio cues indicate if the bears are close and that they are about to jump at us. This is the perfect time to begin playing some music!
Pros
+++ decent graphics: I just love how the cute little teddies wave at you only to suddenly scare the living h*ll out of you in the next moment
+++ great audio / atmosphere: as mentioned audio cues can indicate the plan of the oncoming bears (we have a couple of them coming from different directions) -> with great sound effects comes great atmosphere
Cons
--- longevity: there's not much to do after 8 nights and the stages are relatively short
--- difficulty: it takes a while to understand which direction / anxiety-decreasing-action we should prioritise; once we get the hang of it we can easily complete all 8 nights. However, this does not mean the difficulty will increase gradually. Perhaps the game randomises these encounters - in any case, I found the last two stages pretty easy compared to the previous ones.
Of all the 3 titles Hush Interactive currently has this I find appealing. The Dolls I didn't like, The Final Take I am hesitant to check but it is save to say Shut Eye is a great pastime and perhaps not just for the fans of FNaF.
