Very short - only took me 35 minutes. The puzzles were adequate. Not overly challenging, but at least not in any way grindy.
Shame about the price. Don't buy it unless it's on one of its usual 90%-off sales. The base price is absurd. The discounted price of €1/US$1 is fair.

This is an The Room inspired enjoyable puzzle game. puzzles are nor easy neither difficult and there is auto save. controls just like The Room games, Click an object or position to move towards it. Graphics looks decent and sci fi atmosphere immersive. unfortunately game is too short and there is no exit button so you will have to Ctrl + F4 or otherwise force close when done. Overall if you like The Room games, you re gonna like this one, too.

The Artifact is a very short puzzle game where you wake up out of hyper-sleep and find that something has happened. It's up to you so save the day.
Pros:
Graphics are well done
Simple controls
A few puzzles to solve
Pleasant atmosphere
Cons:
Puzzles are fairly simple
Very small areas to explore
Inverted movement and no way to change it
The game is too short for the money they want
The graphics in this game are fairly good and the atmosphere is descent. A relaxing game if you have a hour to kill. Unfortunately, that's all the time you'll kill playing this game because it's so short. In addition, the puzzles are a bit simplistic and areas where you can explore are fairly small.
When I started playing it, it seemed like the developers were trying to mimic The Room with puzzle boxes. That didn't last though and it quickly changed over to 2010 The year we make contact. There are even a couple lines right out of that movie and of course, the monolith. Now when I say “lines” I mean text because there are no voice actors in this game, just text.
At the time of this review, The Artifact was selling for $7.99. That is insane considering how short this game is. I only played it for about an hour and I was done. However, I bought this game during the summer sale when it was 90% off so I only paid 79 cents for it. So DO NOT buy this game at full price, wait for a sale.

Very short "escape room" game with relatively easy puzzles. You basically drag and drop objects, rotate them, slide something open and that's it. Locations involve spaceship, alien planet surface and one other area. Recommended only if on sale.
The Artifact is a rudimentary effort in every possible way.
Sometimes I ignore mixed reviews and mistakenly think "meh, this could be alright". Erm, well...
I came here looking for more escape the room ingenuity after finishing The Room Three, expecting the sci-fi setting might be a welcome change of pace. On that front, it is, but everything else is a major downgrade.
The game welcomes you with a blurry Earth graphic and low budget VFX. Soon you'll be clicking anywhere and the game will often send you elsewhere. Very unintuitive navigation made this a pain to go through. Clicking on a holographic computer screen goes right through it (you must click its base), while activating the UI overlays also counts as a movement click and sends you to another position.
Add to this bland, repetitive ambient music, blocky shadows worthy of gaming circa 2007, absurdly simple puzzles and hardly any narrative elements laid over 4 very short chapters, and you've got very little room left to appreciate the adequate but generic sci-fi environments.
There's no quit button here folks – you must ALT-F4 yourself out of this one, or better yet spend your leisure time elsewhere.

The Artifact is a clone of The Room series in all aspects other than setting (and production quality) that's very rough around the edges and overall not very good.
Its biggest problem is that there's not enough of it... I feel like I could forgive the quality if it gave me a little more to play with, literally, but the game ended abruptly right as it started feeling mysterious and a little engaging. The playtime at the time of the review is a little under 50 minutes, and that was enough to complete the game start to finish, "hints off," including time wasted wrestling with the controls. Speaking of which, you'll often click on the interface (no keyboard shortcuts as far as I can tell to activate the eye or go back) only for it not to register, or sometimes the click will register both as "move here" and the button activation.
There's a very limited number of puzzles which don't really bring much new to the table: slide this, click that, read this code and input over it there, a pipe puzzle, a matching puzzle... All very simple, fairly streamlined, but most of all, too short.
So, yeah. Avoid unless you're absolutely starving for any The Room-like experience, like I was, I suppose. But even then, it may leave a bad aftertaste once you're done.

A very short (took me 37 minutes, I am used to puzzle games) but enjoyable game.
This may be a good introduction for people who haven't got a whole lot of experience with puzzle solving type games yet, and since it is perfectly harmless and requires little specific knowledge, it is suitable for players of all ages, too.
If the developers ever wish to spend some more time on it, I think there is room to give the artifacts some more elaborate designs with more detail, they seem a bit simple the way they are - like functional placeholders - but work as basic gameplay elements.

★ — 2/10 - Too pricey for what it has to offer.
Being a fan of puzzle games, I was looking forward to playing The Artifact as it claimed to have a beautiful 3D environment, head-scratching puzzles, and an immersive story but unfortunately, none of those claims were actually met.
I think it's obvious that a lot of the inspiration for The Artifact came from the "The Room" game series (which is hands down one of my favorite puzzle game series ever) but it feels a lot less polished and plays a lot more clunky. While the environment sure is a 3D environment, I feel like there are too little things in too much open space. Yes, I do understand that it's supposed to be a space station but with only a very limited number of interactable objects and only a couple of puzzles in each room, it makes the world feel empty.
The puzzles were a complete let-down for me as they were far from head-scratching, the contrary, they were way too easy and straight-forward which is probably why it only took me 42 minutes to complete the entire game. Maybe, someone who doesn't play a lot of puzzle games might have a harder time figuring some things out but in general, I feel that the longer playtimes I've seen other people have only come from letting the game run to get all the cards.
As for the immersive story, I can't say that that's what I would call it. If I had to use a word for it, I'd probably say it was bland and not very interesting. Of course, not everything you do in a game needs to have a purpose but when a game claims to have an immersive story, I definitely expect more than what was presented in The Artifact, especially considering the money they ask for it.
If someone is interested in buying The Artifact because they love puzzle games then all I can say is to wait for it to be on sale for 90% off and definitely don't expect too much going into this game.

Especially if you enjoy The Room series.
The Artifact is a quick game, about 1 hour or even less for the savvy puzzle solver. Once I got into the 2nd room it made me think of The Room series of games. While this one was not as challenging it was still very enjoyable to go through and I would love to see these developers create more of the same concept.
As such a short game there is not much to say without spoilers. But it should be noted that you use the mouse to look around, and click and drag to work the mechanics. And your progress is automatically saved just be sure you click Continue versus New Game on the main screen if you exit.
The only problem i ran into while playing was in Chapter 3, there is a puzzle before the end of the game and after moving the first object the game froze. I couldn't click anything leaving me to Alt + F4. I was careful to click on Continue when i relaunched the game and it picked up right where i left off.
In closing.
Here's a guide to 100% the game. Most will probably get through the game without the need for help, but what might be easy for one person, isn't always for another.

The Artifact is a puzzle game, i could compare it to The Room series.
The game itself is ok, it takes max 1 hour to finish it, so its a very short one and pretty overpriced compared to The Room games, not even to mention that those are longer and more complicated, this one is a bit way too straightforward.
The Game is recommended, its fun if you like such games, but i wouldnt recommend for full price.
On sale i bought for 0,79eur on steam, i can recommend for that price, its within my 1eur/1hour for video games entertainment price range.
Hey, iam an achievement hunter!
