The reason I really disliked Elder Scrolls Legends was that it added pre-built decks within a week, one of the major reasons I've grown to dislike Hearthstone more and more are the pre-built decks. This game could however benefit a lot with handing out some good noob deck with some basic explanations on why it's good as it would help you get in to the game and start to get the foundations of it and through it build your own set of pieces. It's close enough to chess to feel familiar but different enough to make it really hard to just get in to and there's no really easy (I don't really think a tutorial would be good either) way to get to understand the pieces as that's what you need to learn, the pieces, what they do, why they're good and their synergy to give you the basics of how to build a working compilation of pieces... The idea of this game is very nice (not sure why it hovered at 80 FPS though as it's way too low for what they presented) and I do think it has a lot of potential to be fun it's however ruined of how you're thrown in to "build a team" in which you can look at the pieces and what they do but you aren't told if they're truely useful and all the practice you can do is against AI and you start the game with having to discard two of your pieces because reasons...

Microgons is a well designed and easy to pick up turn based game for two players. Choose 6 meeples from a pool of 24 figurines to assemble your team, generate a game board and you are ready to start a match. The first one to kill the enemy king wins the game and while trying to achieve that goal you can employ a wide variety of skills and tactics. Each meeple comes with different movement rules, its own special skill and hit points. Despite all of that depth Microgons is very easy to just pick up and play thanks to a stylish but minimalistic interface. There is just nothing wrong with Microgons. It looks cool, has a lot of depth, is very well balanced, there is a lot of replayablity and to top it all off, its just 4,99€. I wholeheartily recommend Microgons to everyone who likes good game design and is looking for a 1 on 1 boardgame. Matches tend to be around 10 to 20 minutes, so its a nice coffee break game as well. And on a sidenote: I simply love the relaxing soundtrack. Thumbs up!

Team customization, 20+ unique pieces, Fun gameplay, A E S T H E T I C, and Awesome soundtrack. The only drawback is that there are almost no ranked players so although online ranked play is a feature there is only a small playerbase as of now. I would only recommend if you got it with a friend, but, the more people that buy, the more players for online. There is an option to play against AI, but honestly it is more for learning the core gameplay. *Something i forgot to mention is that there is no starting team so you have to customize a team right off the bat to play, which may seem overwhelming, but, that's why I recommend getting it with a friend to have fun and experiment with lineups*

I love the aesthetic that this game portrays, and I love the strategy that goes into the gameplay. If this game has gotten the time, love and care it absolutely deserved, then I am sure it would have been at the very least a niche sensation, especially as of late with chess becoming as popular on Twitch as it has been. I would love to see this game come back at some point and be regularly updated, because there's so much clear potential in what was being worked on - that just didn't end up seeing the light of day. As of right now, the online servers don't function, and finding someone to play against is difficult - so I can only hope that it gets picked up, or a similar alternative is made in the future. Cheers to the surreal vaporwave chess game.

Basically, if you like chess and want to play a fun chill game with really good music and without all the chess BS like opening and end game theory: you should give it a try because this will be up your alley. Real good value for the price of a starbucks coffee.

Microgons is a wonderful twist on the classic game of Chess, with 24+ unique pieces that all serve different functions and have their own special abilites. Our baboon minds have yet to fully undiscover the potential and the metagame for Microgons but believe me, the potential is there, and I'm hooked. Pros: + Adds its own unique mechanics to Chess, while still staying as fair and balanced as the timeless game + Large variety of pieces and much plenty of room for customization + Pleasant visuals and sounds + Practice mode lets you get a feel for the game and its rules + Great price Cons: - Only tutorial is a few pages of "How to Play" at the main menu. Its servicable, but not the most user friendly way of teaching the game. - Some issues with UI. You WILL make accidental moves if you aren't careful. Team Builder could be organized better. - Little single player content. - EDIT: No local offline play. That is balls. Hopefully this game mantains a solid playerbase, but I've really enjoyed my time with this game and I will soon be convincing all of my friends to buy this

This is very fun game and it has extremly good asthetics (no pun intended) but only when you can play it. This is a online only game and nobody is playing it. The only chance you have to play is with a friend or know somone else who plays this game or practice mode. Hopefully the creators will add a singleplayer mode.
