2k games have been getting review bombed recently because of data mining and invasion of privacy which consumers are well within their rights to be upset about. Although i dont see anyone uninstalling windows as their OS even though windows does the same without even asking you to agree. 2k is a terrible greedy company filled with a bunch of lazy idiots. However i will be giving this product a mostly positive review, not to be contrarian, but rather because this is the place where one leaves product reviews and not the place for npc Redditors to regurgitate their brainwashing while throwing tantrums like 5 year olds. Minervas Den is a short sweet story expansion of Bioshock 2. I would not have even known this existed if it wasnt for a video from Outside Xbox claiming it to be better than the main game itself, and i agree with them that it is better than Bioshock 2. The gameplay is very similar with the only real changes being that you have a laser instead of the camera which is technically an improvement due to the fact that the camera in Bioshock 2 was trash and a chore to use unlike its counterpart in Bioshock 1. The scripted nature of many of the combat encounters in Minervas Den and its tight levels evoke some of the feeling of Bioshock 1 which is good, but it is a double edged sword that puts the entire experience under a microscope as the gameplay is less hectic and the story isnt yapping constantly which allows you to pay more attention to what you are actually playing. When you are paying more attention Bioshock 2 and Minervas Den, despite the developers trying to expand on the gameplay of Bioshock 1, they instead trip over the hurdle of gameplay cohesion. Meaning that while there are more types of enemies to shoot and more opportunities to shoot them, the actual gameplay is less polished and less quality. The weapon progression of Minervas Den and Bioshock 2 is nonsense. The challenge comes from poor design more than actual increasing difficulty. Further, some areas just force you to use one strategy and one strategy alone to avoid frustration with the game mechanics, usually involving the lame hacking tool. I would put the entire experience on par with Bioshock 2 completely if it wasnt for the removal of Sophia Lamb's annoying omnipresent dialogue and the addition of an ending that actually makes you feel a sense of finality/satisfaction instead of basically mocking the player like the ending of Bioshock 2/Bioshock Infinite. This relationship between the expansion and the full game really is reminiscent of the dynamic of Wolfenstein New Order and its expansion The Old Blood. It gives you the feeling that someone who really understood Bioshock 1, cared about quality writing, and had good ideas was ignored. Whoever that person is was probably told to be quiet, to keep their head down in their tiny cubicle, and that if they continued to contribute their hardwork to the stupidity of some creatively bankrupt DEI hire or executive then they would be given a week and ten measly dollars to work on their own ideas for the dlc. Well thats depressing to think about....and im supposed to be the comedian sooo *slide whistle* Whats The Deal With Airplane Peanuts? Gahyuck!

Well made DLC featuring all that makes the main game great plus some extras on top: some new weapons and plasmids / tonics, some small alterations of enemies and a great storyline of its own. Loved it, especially the ending is very relevant still today! Unfortunately the game crashed to desktop every so often same as the main game.
