I absolutely love this visual digital dime novel! Quick things you need to know about me: I don't really like Western themed stuff all that much, nor do I really like visual novels. I'm sure there are cool things about each genre individually, but somehow combined together you get THIS masterpiece.
Dead End Junction is the story of Josette, a young cowgirl who romanticizes the lives of the gunslingers in her dime novels. She sets out on a journey to find her father and along the way discovers the true after effects of war. Soon all her fantasies get a kick into reality and the lives of outlaws and gunslingers don't seem so flashy as she's come to believe. There are economical, societal, and racial consequences to the end of war; something you'd expect to bring peace and prosperity.
Aside from the Ace Attourney series, I haven't enjoyed any other visual novels. It's not just because they lack gameplay elements like Phoenix Wright---I like the idea of them, but the execution usually falls flat. At least with the ones I've read so far and never finished. The issue comes down to pointless dialogue. The characters talk a lot without saying much. There's no plot or character development, it's just characters sassing each other or being silly. My prime examples are Nurse Love Addition and the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, which you can check my profile for my reviews on those games.
However, Dead End Junction keeps me engaged because the characters have a lot of meaningful things to say. Questions about courage, integrity, and equality--along with many more philosophical ponderings--are injected into the ever moving dialogue of this story. The characters all feel nuanced and unique, talk as such, and relate to each other as such. There may be a few moments where the characters don't talk about anything all that substantial, but unlike the other VN's I've read, that's kept to a thankful minimum.
For the most part, the dialogue drives the story and characters forward so you rarely ever feel like the story drags on too long like many other self indulgent VN's that think length = quality. I believe you can finish reading this visual novel in between 6-10 hours depending on your reading speed, but at least every moment has meaning in it.
You get insights on how Furros feel about making peace with humans, even the ones who still look down upon them as second rate species. They are half-man half-beast like creatures and serve as an allegory for Native Americans in this fantasy version of the Wild West. Then of course the coming of age arc with Josette is incredible. Not only does she do away with her initial naivity about war and heroic gunslingers, but she also learns to be less hot headed as she befriends other well fleshed out characters that serve as a harsh reminder that the world isn't all roses and daisies after the end of war.
Before I ramble on too much, all I'll end this off with is this: as of writing this review it is on sale for $6.99 which is 30% off the full price. I paid full price for it and I have no regrets about it. It took me a long time to finally decide to buy it, and equally as long to finally read it more consistently. Take it from me, my only regret is not having invested my time and attention into this amazing story any sooner.

📙 This story perfectly combines the usual anime fantasy and light western with authentic references. The stylization of the narrative stands out, and although there could clearly have been more art scenes, devs did an excellent job with what was available, and good music only emphasizes the atmosphere. This is definitely not something you'll find in the vastness of VN's. Despite the slightly predictable plot, its structure retains your interest, since it's not always clear where the chars will go and what awaits them there. Lively change of scenes, no long monologues, emphasis on the right things. Of course, don't expect anything too shocking, this is just a comfortable adventure with likable characters. However, WE NEED A SEQUEL, this is one of those stories that ends at the beginning of another great adventure. If this is one of those games that's been on your wish list for a long, time has come, it's an enjoyable experience.

I'm about 2 hours in but I was reading a bit slow so we can round that down to an hour and a half maybe? Anyway, I'm really liking this game so far since the characters have great designs and personality but I have yet to come to any choice. It seems to be hinting at a pretty big story so maybe I still have to slog through more exposition. If you're looking for something quick to play and get through you might want to look somewhere else but if you like the art and characters I say you may as well get this while it's on sale!
P.S Everyone is great but Flan and Jo are adorable.

Dead End Junction doesn't have any gameplay at all but, to be honest, no one bought this game thinking it would have deep mechanics or complex systems. Its a visual novel. The important things on a visual novel are the story, the characters, and the art direction, and let me say, they are just perfect, and SO different from any other VN I had played. Some people may be a little turn down by the lack of dialogue choices and the sort, but once the story starts pumping up, I garantee you that you would not care shit about that. It is like reading a manga or a novel you just can't put down.
If a badass story with anime cowboys, plus a little bit of fantasy, sounds intresting to you, chek it out.
Also, Inaho best girl. Inaho x Josette best ship.

A visual novel that aims to re-create the Wild Western dime-novel experience in a comicbook-like format, Dead End Junction hits all its targets. The cast was an entertaining mix of heroes, villand, and anti-heroes engaged in a plot full of adventure. There was plenty of lightness and humor, and while the story addressed heavier material, it never let itself get mired down in it: just like the heroine Josette, it would always pull itself up by the bootstraps.
I found the ride thrilling and engaging. There is an awful lot of content for the cost, and aside some editing lapses the production quality is high. I recommend Dead End Junction to anyone who enjoys a good story.
More please.

Wild West Waifus. What's not to love about this?
773 / 5.
P.S: I'll do a proper review once i'm done with this, but so far the game looks great, music fits well (nothing out of extraordinary, but it does its job), the characters don't seem as bland as usual, and the story/world feels nicely built, natural. Also, I've no issues with the translation so far, as it's blending with the setting quite well. No memes spotted either, except for the main char being named after JoJo...
As expected, the comic boobs style makes it more immersive/engaging than usual.

This is a rather unusual novel, at least from my experience. The art is beautiful and the characters seem well-formed, but the story format is prone to giving me a slight headache. Also, I fear my reading speed is a bit faster than the speed I can get the "pages" to advance.
That said, it does appear to be a cute, well-researched novella (though in a Weird West setting, instead of the Wild West). So I would recommend it to those who like westerns, or western-fantasies.

For English speakers:
I didn't finished it so far so this review is based on my experiece of part of the game. I won't judge the story at this stage.
Pros:
1. The localization is really well done. It even gives u a false feeling that this game was developed by English speakers.
2. Unique and amazing style to present the dialoge. It's like reading a fasnating interactive Comic Book.
3. The art style is AMAZING. U got a lot of CGs. U have totally different painting for different face, not just swapping texture of eyes or mouth. It also fits game's wild west theme perfectly.
4. The PRICE, but not the quality, is CHEAP. Only 7.64$ after 15off. It would literally cost u only about 6$ because it comes with Cards. Compared to those developers and publishers which keeps spamming money grabbing titles,
No, I'm not talking about SAKURA series
this one definitely worth it's price tag.
Cons:
The map. Yes, it's the map. Mountain range should never be drawn in that way if there's a lake near it. It looks like the lake is floating over the mountain range. It's a tiny flaw and affects nothing I guess,
if u dont have OCD
but it's really easy to fix.
It's not voice acted. What's a pity.
OVERALL: 9.773/10
It's a great game with great price. Give it a try and it won't fail u.

PSA: This is a kinetic novel. As in you don't get to make choices, it's not a choose your own story type of game. You just sit back and read. Not that that's bad or anything, but I bought it thinking it was would be more of visual novel where you get to make decisions that affect the story outcome. Bad on me for not reading more about the game, but I did like the artwork and the wild west setting intrigued me since there aren't any other games like this that I am aware of. Though hard to classify this as a "game" if there is no interacitvity other than clicking to turn the digital page, if you will. I am going to try streaming it to my Shield later on in the bathtub. :D Oh and if you like this, check out Highway Blossoms, it has a western ish vibe though more modern. Also both games have yuri vibes which I dig on. ;)

Dead End Junction is a kinetic novel done in the form of a comic book. The setting is an alternate universe, similar to the U.S. Old West shortly after the Civil War.
I found it entertaining and hope the developers continue the story. With 9 hours of reading time (and I'm a fast reader), the price was very reasonable. Also, this is not anime style, it's more a western comic book.
For those who normally skip the credits, the "ending" of Dead End Junction is after the credits. So, don't just close the window when the credits start rolling!
For those looking for nudity, H scenes, etc, none in here at all, so look elsewhere.
