It's been a while since I last tried this. So, for old times sake and a certain desire to play OGRE again, I re-installed this for another try.
1). I decided to play one of the official - and one of the most basic - scenarios, OGRE Mk. V attack on the Command Post.
2). Selected mission, made myself the attacker (the OGRE player) and pressed the start button ...
3). OK ... for some reason, I got a different map to the one normally used in this basic scenario.
4). Despite choosing to play as the attacker (the OGRE), on start of this scenario (on new/wrong map) I find I'm now playing the defender (the PanEuro forxces) - not the OGRE.
5). This is confusing - why would I bother trying to play this game when it won't let me play what it allowed me to select?
6). I seem to recall this 'frak you, player' mentality was why I gave up on this game last time.
7). Oh well ...
I play games for fun.
I loved OGRE as a board game - and I feel I should love it as a video game.
It's probably one of the better (and simplest) board games to convert to a video game there is.
So why is it that, every time I try to play it, it leave me peed off and frustrated without me getting so much as a few moments of pleasure playing it?
I'd like it to work.
I'd like to play the OGRE in single player mode.
But I suspect you can't - it won't let you.
Which is stupid.
Really stupid.
I'll stick to the board game, thank you - at least I can play that and have it work properly.
