I got this with a 90% off coupon from steam. It's mechanics are bad. You can't build defenses because your troops wander off screen. The monsters are much tougher than your pigs and scale with time. The sound effects are ear piercing and not much enjoyable. The art is good. Not a bad game for 15 or so cents but not one I could recommend.

I wish there were a middling option for recommendation because I don't want to fully say yes or no to this game. It's a small game, but not terribly made. The art style has some charm to it, and I had some fun with my ~1.5 hours in the game. The gameplay is relatively solid, though it can get a bit tedious during boss fights. The vignette system is fun, and having the 3 generals provide a discount to a portion of the troops does lead to some fun builds once all of them have been unlocked. The fact that your troops spawn from the home base instead of being placed directly in the battle line gets irritating, and was something that almost cost me a few levels near the end. That said, it's pretty dang easy to cheese levels with 2 main troops per lane and supplemental pigs to keep damage off the big ones. The story wasn't great. It felt somewhat generic and lifeless, but there is some potential here and I wish it had been utilized better. Like I said before, artistically it looks nice, though animations are pretty stiff lacking variation. The bosses had neat intros, the second boss in particular was pretty cool. Not a terrible game, and fairly priced given it's length. I wouldn't go back for all of the achievements, but it's a fun enough way to pass the time if you wind up finding it on sale or getting a coupon from crafting a badge.

This game is incredibly strange and problematic. Each level is increasingly difficult with no real power ups or aids. You'll unlock stronger (more expensive) cards but you won't ever be able to use them. The game has 0 sense of balancing whatsoever and you will be able to beat all standard levels (not bosses) with the 3 first cards you unlock. If you don't have a keen eye for strategy, don't play this game. It requires a lot of skill, effort and timing to play properly due to the lack of care when designing levels. If you are set on playing this game, or maybe just want to get a cheap game with some simple achievements, here are some tips: - Hay bales, farmers and hunters are your best friends. Cheap and fast cycling cards will mean you survive the earlier rounds - Do not bring more than one expensive card (10+ cost) you will rarely be able to afford it and by the time you are able to you won't be able to place many - always Always ALWAYS upgrade your village ASAP. You will NOT beat later waves and later levels on base +1 currency. Sacrifice some health if you need to to get your economy going. - There is no benefit to killing wolves fast, ultimately this is a bad thing as it triggers the next wave early and you will get less income. Stall in early rounds as long as possible to build up your economy. If you play this game, genuinely, good luck.

Thanks for steam coupons, good for game farming, but I had to use SAM for the achievements, why is this game so slow? I could feel my soul leaving my body, in ten minutes I was about to meet Satan. I may or may not come back to get the achievements the legitimate way if I wanna suffer later.

A pretty meh experience. A game for kids sure, but its still not a good lane defense game. The cutscenes especially, but also the game itself is lowres. Balancing is way off. Not horrendous, but sure af not good. Im on a quest of at least trying every game in my library, of which I got plenty from all kinds of bundles, not all though. If you are interested in my journey, check out my other reviews :)

In 2010 this would have been free on addicting games, instead we get a cash grab plants vs zombie clone with an "engaging story" of 20 total lines of dialog and sounds that play way too loud even with the volume on the lowest level. My gpu pushed 4k fps out of the game and I still have artifacting in a slideshow transition cut scene. The strategy is sacrifice your barriers in the first waves to afford to upgrade your city then have overwhelming economy to build towers and units on cooldown. But hey, it has trading cards and achievements.

it was ok i suppose, but i felt plants vs zombies was better. when you use a consumable on this game they move forward and eventually disappear. its hard building up a defense as it is let alone having my consumed points just walk away from defending their homes.

This is a very nice game for it's price. basically, it's a tower defense game, or rather a line defense. You need to defend the pigs' village from the attack of the wolves. Barriers remain immobile and you can select the right place to deploy them. The units ALWAYS appear from the village and move forward without stopping. The first two levels are a bit slow, like a tutorial, but from the third level new enemies and bosses drastically change game mechanics, forcing player to think strategically. You also gain new allies that have their own mechanics and are strong against different types of enemies. Boss fighting are challenging and they have different abilities.

Expected to get something similar to poor's PvZ game, instead got unbalanced annoyingly hard game. Hand drawn assets are good, everything else is not, even for indie game. Not recommended. Better wait for sale and get PvZ for 1-2 bucks. Played on Windows 7, as Linux user I was unable to utilize new steam utility - Proton based Steam Play, game failed to run properly (tho I installed everything I could including codecs, flash, adobe aero, full pack of DX, vc++ and .NET), also it never worked in wine so if you're Linux user like myself don't bother with this title, it needs native win to run.

Do I like the story and the concept of the game? Yes. Can I recommend it? No. It isn't a bad game, but it lacks optimization. The animations are not smooth. It's literally: "pig hit wolf, wolf, hit pig" on repeat. Your units need to walk from the town to the battle lines. It may work in theory, but in practice it makes you frustrated. "Oh I have to time my positioning too? Lovely." (Please, note the sarcasm.) I understand that the game's inspiration was the traditional fairytale, but I would be awesome if that were somehow expanded. E.g. Making a wolf campaign as well and give wolves a chance to have more depth than going with "wolves = evil by default". (I would greatly appreciate it as a wolf lover.) If you're looking for a better Tower Defense game, check out Plants vs. Zombies. It offers more content and it's executed better.
