I charming group of 9 very short stories. Enjoyed interacting with this over lunch, about 20 minutes in total. I would definitely recommend this for the artwork alone. My main criticism is some of the stories are almost too brief, the writing cut a little short. The strength of the visuals compel a longer engagement. Happy to know Might and Delight have several other games available to further enjoy this world they've made.

Little Collection of (really) short Storys. The main target audience are children i guess but if you love the artstyle of the Shelter-Games you will love this little collection aswell. Worth a buy? If you really love the Shelter games, yes. If you like short storys with a lovely Artstyle, sure but you might want to buy it when its on sale (like i did)

Pictures are adorable, I liked the art style, and I liked the fables themselves. Lack of a local language support makes it impossible for little kids to understand the stories. Otherwise it has little to offer, beyond pretty pictures and chill music. However, I would definitely buy it as a book for my children, provided it was translated.

It's a good little digital storybook. It's not a game at all, but it was fun little thing from Might and Delight developers. I love the artstyle of Might and Delight games, so getting a little storybook from them is amazing. The stories are small short stories about fables about different kind of animals. The fables have good sayings and meanings and it would be great to read for children!

I know children are the public for this but it should really have been a picture book. The music doesn't add much, there's no narration, it's just a slideshow. Took longer downloading this than reading the stories.

This review is NEUTRAL which steam still doesn't allow! Grrrrr. Fables from the Den is a digital children's book. Each story is a fable as the title suggests and so each short story teaches a moral lesson, using woodland creatures as characters. The dialogue is simple and effective. This would make a lovely print book, as the art work is superb. I read each of the stories out loud to my son (this should not take more than an hour even reading out loud slowly). He is too young to understand them yet but enjoys hearing my voice, and I liked reading them. We will be re-visiting this book later on when he can get the full meaning of the stories. They are definitely suitable from a young age, but I can't imagine they have much to offer people who don't have children in their lives unless you are a massive fan of the Shelter artwork and animals. The downside is of course that these are on PC (or TV if you have yours set up that way), which is not an ideal way to read to children. I gave this a go, and enjoyed reading them out to my son - but quickly realized sitting with him in front of a PC for him to enjoy the pictures wasn't ideal. If this was a physical book, or even on tablet, it would make for a better bedtime story read. For this reason it gets a neutral recommendation for me. If you are looking for a story book on the PC or have your TV set up in the bedroom where your kid is going to be able to see the words and pictures then I do recommend it - it is well written, with beautiful illustrations. If this was on tablet, I could see myself reading these stories to my child every night and showing him the cute images - but for practical reasons, I don't think I will get much use out of it. I couldn't justify giving this a negative rating - it is perfectly executed, but for me, steam just doesn't work as a platform for reading.

This review is neutral. 15+ min to complete, Fables from the Den has 9 short stories with two art styles, watercolor and the pattered style Might and Delight is known for. Each story has a moral and is told by a different animal, with others commenting on it after it’s finished. While cute, it doesn’t have enough content to justify a $7 price tag, so get it on sale.

Rating this as neutral. I like the concept of a living book and the execution for this was done well from a technical and artistic stand-point. It's just that the stories are much too short (around 3 paragraphs each) and the writing is classic purple prose; much too overly ornate text, esp given the target audience is young children. It disrupts the narrative flow by drawing undesirable attention to its own extravagant style of writing, ie. excessive use of complex adjectives/adverbs/run-on-sentences. For me, it diminished the appreciation of the stories being told - and I'm a grown adult who LOVES to read; I truly just think this was a poor match-up given the content? A better balance would have been simpler writing, but a longer story w more pages and w more illustrations. The art style is pleasant to look at, so kudos to the illustrator; they carried this. Side note: imo the text & pictures should be re-sized larger. There's too much white space after looking at this on my large pc monitor (esp the text, it's too little for someone farther than 1 foot away to see, assuming you might want to gather your kids around to read along w you.) I purchased this on sale (only spent CDN$ 1.27 on it, over 70% off) so given the low price tag & 20 minutes it took to complete it, I'm not that mad about it. I'm just disappointed it wasn't as good as it potentially could have been. The right building blocks are there, and perhaps this was experimental for the developer, but PLEASE try to hire a different writer for this type of stuff. Make the writing better and stories longer so we can appreciate what's in front of us more. CONCLUSION: At full price, I don't think it's worth it. On sale? Still questionable, and up to you depending on what your opinion is. If you're a parent who will be reading this multiple times to your children, maybe, but for someone like me just looking for a short read definitely not.

A 20 minute collection of low effort short story sliders wrapped inside a minimal parallax scene. The concept itself can do better as there is practically none of the expected interactivity, making the Den scene an overglorified selection menu. The static fables are possibly the greatest problem of the title - uninventive and bland. It pains me to be negative about what is otherwise a stylistically cute product, but the experience was forgettable for both me and my daughter.
