People claim that this game is "hyped", but its been out for a decade now - it should be considered a case of "play it if you think its worth it" I think its worth it. Amongst the non-complicated game mechanics, pretty simple AI and the one softlock i experienced, it powers through to be a good experience without crashes. Completed it in one session. The artwork presented, the locations and the restart-awareness (including non-repeatable events) were all major highlights. Despite watching videos talking about this game, the realtime experience is the way to go.

RIP, and yeah it only took 4hrs to finish the campaign. "Challenge players' morality" heh, as if, the story is just amusing by the end of it. Soon enough you'll be thinking "oh, please" at the mention of forced war crimes. Your "decisions" have no impact whatsoever, as you're still going to see the same ending regardless. The story just winds up being that the protag was hallucinating things he saw, even Konrad was a hallucination. It falls apart when you think "why tf didn't Walker the professional Delta operative just follow the mission and leave as soon as he did the recon?" What kind of SF operative thinks that with just three men, no intel, and no support of any kind they should charge head on and solve the whole situation by themselves. Because by the end of the epilogue the military does make their way through the storm-wall. The gunplay is a bit rough, but it still allows some rudimentary strategy, like flanking, going cover to cover to close distance. It kinda of falters when 3-4 enemies beam you down for poking your head out of cover for a micro second. In a lot of situations you have to poke up, take one enemy out, get yourself nearly killed, and spend the next 2 seconds healing before repeating. The only thing that really stands out about the gameplay are the executions which you can sometimes do up to two of them after each battle. Executions are notable not just because of the execution itself, but for them refilling some of your ammo after each one of them. This fact is poorly communicated and I found this out by accident after playing half way through the game. Devs give so little ammo reserves because they want you doing executions whenever possible. They further encourage executions and hence a more aggressive play-style by letting you rush an enemy and melee them in order to execute them while they're down. If you didn't know this fact about executions you'd just think that the devs intend for you to be scavenging whatever weapons the enemy is using at the time and just drop or hang onto one weapon until you find an ammo box. When first starting the game you'll notice some atrocious mouse acceleration and smoothing that's not readily tweak-able, though you could download a tool to help fix this. I didn't mess with mouse settings besides turning the mouse sensitity to 2, which is barely noticeable, but you'd soon get used to the weird mouse sensitivity.

This game is wonderful! I'm glad I got it before they removed it from the store. Played only now. Graphics did not age very well, the gameplay isn't special, but it's fun to play however the story, how it was written, it depicts the madness of war very well. Disturbingly well. I'd love to see a remake and this really should come back to the store. IDK why they removed it, they should bring it back. I recomend playing it without any knowledge. Go in blind, make your own choices.

I feel like a lot of people have a similar opinion to me on this game; fairly standard third-person shooter with an insane story that gets unpleasant pretty quick. I happen to like third-person shooters from this generation just fine, so I actually enjoy the whole experience. I think some of the appeal is lost when you've completed it once, though.

Playing this on PC is like trying to run through mud. The controls are clearly made for consoles, so on keyboard, it feels stiff, and the mouse sensitivity is way too high with no way to change it—good luck aiming. The story's trying to be deep, but with zero player agency, it feels more like you’re just sitting through a movie. Gameplay’s decent with some cool set pieces, but the mechanics are old and busted—cover shooting is awkward, and the slow walking during dialogues is excruciating. Graphics are still solid, but getting it to run smoothly on PC is another matter. Random crashes, and gameplay events don’t always trigger—like NPCs refusing to open doors or enemies that should spawn just... don’t. If it was still on Steam, I’d say give it a shot, but since it’s not, you're on your own.

Bought game forever ago, played a few hours and removed. Today, Feb 23, 25 saw it in inventory and how small it was, so loaded. It may not be available to buy, but if in library, it will install without any issues and play. Graphics dated, but really enjoyed a few hours starting fresh today.

Every military soldier game in a campaign mode always starts with an American War Hero who saves the day by shooting terrorists and saving civilians from harm. However, Spec Ops The Line gave the opposite take but in secret. Martin Walker and the rest of his team were the villains this whole time. They thought the 33rd were the traitors but they were helping the civilians and they accidentally killed them. But it turns out that Delta Force were the villains this whole time and everything Walker sees is nothing but his imagination. Which is nothing but an illusion. It was completely traumatic. Having to feel other character's pain, guilt and remorse is what makes an intriguing story. And even though Delta Force killed civilians by force in Chapter 13 this game is what feels like unleashing anger and no single option. For the game play well I always wanted to play a military game but in 3rd person. Although I did miss some of the military games before I had my laptop, this is the game I bought. Game play plays similar to Gears of War but without the chainsaw riffle. I like the idea of having a small ammo limit. Having an ammo limit means that I can try on other guns, too. Although melee attacks are just knocking out an enemy and then executing them seems pretty pk The graphics in the game are astonishing for a 2012 game. Makes it feel like this is a new game today however the video cut scenes ruin the vibe a little because every time there is a video cut scene the quality is a bit low for some reason. Spec Ops: The Line is one of the most controversial games related to war crimes in Dubai. But even if this game's campaign is unsettling it is another of the great games I recommend playing and putting in your rare collection.

The controls of this game are so sheeet, still the graphics are okish according to a game released in 2012. Not gonna lie the story is very very rich. Feels like we are playing a Military Movie not a game. hands up... played this almost after a decade after it's release :) GG

The first time I played it, I remember being underwhelmed by the gimmicky bit of it to writing, particularly the point when I paused it making the forced moral decision that perpetuates the rest of the story. However, the second time through, I really just enjoyed it for the shooter that it is, with the really cool sets and traversal. It's a shame it's no longer available.

What a fucking shame this game has been removed from the Steam store. This is the ultimate problem with digital. Once the licensing or whatever stupid corporate claim expires, the whole game is gone. I had a lot of fun with this game, I am so glad I bought it while it was available because damn, this is why I will always prefer physical copies over digital purchases.
