Nimbus Reviews

Nimbus is a unique combination of racing & puzzling. The player controls a craft with no means of directly propelling itself and needs to use whatever is scattered around the levels to acquire thrust and reach the goal. You. You buy this game. Right goddamn now. Lovely visuals, incredible upbeat soundtrack, and some of the best physics-bouncing, time-trialing you've ever had.

Simple: A+, only 4 buttons, left right brakes and reset, Goal: get from A to B. Casual: A, I can turn this game on at any time to decompress, however there are some levels that just shouldn't be attempted if you have high blood pressure problems. Difficulty Scale: C, they mark each level with a difficulty from 1-10, I find those markings somewhat arbitrary, you can accidentally stumble across hidden levels with low difficulty only to find them much harder than stated. *SPOILERS -->* the final level throws such a curveball at you it can only be compared to the final level of Trine. It isn't necessisarily difficult per say, but its a massive shift in the pace of the game. Replay value: B, you can easily get some of the bonus unlocks your first play through, the bonus tokens are very simple in the early levels, and the unlockable cosmetic modifications to your ship are fun, but it isn't going to bring you back if you aren't into that kind of thing. ran out of room summary 9/10mustown

Interesting idea that's well executed. Graphics are clear, 3D, not distracting yet not underdone. Very much a precision game, though. Be prepared to retry many times if you're after a good score.

Wow, what a hidden gem! I had this on my wishlist for AGES, and I finally got around to playing it. So simple but it's great fun, and constantly throws new mechanics at you to spice things up. A good mix of puzzle and skill, and the difficulty ramps up at a good rate. Also the soundtrack is FANTASTIC!

Really good. Challenges are actually challenging instead of being unfair. Charming music and graphics with solid gameplay has me returning over 5+ years to keep playing and set new records, now my global average is top 100!

I guess this is a bit of a puzzle racing type of game. You control a ship and you have to bounce off of panels or use cannons to shoot yourself up. Then you guide your ship across the levels while avoiding things like spikes and crashing down. It starts off pretty easy but it gets difficult quickly. I normally don't really play these type of games (not for long anyway) but I do enjoy them from time to time. So depending on what you're looking for you might enjoy it as well. Colourful, accessible arcade action puzzle game where you manage thrust and inertia to steer your little spaceship thing through a gravity-shifting crazy golf obstacle course to the exit tile. Of course there are optional extra collectables along the way, alternate exits to alternate worlds, Super Mario World style, and enough new hazards and abilities to contend with that it kept my interest long before I ran out of new levels. Works really well as a casual pass-the-pad multiplayer game. It's a lot more forgiving than something like Super Hexagon. Nobody's going to be on for too long but nobody's getting an early bath after five seconds. Well... not often. Feels very much like a game you might find stuffed in a corner in a seaside arcade or find on an Amiga disk with half a Chinese label on it - you'll want to tell people about it, when you remember, but most of them will almost certainly never play it and you're not sure of the name or where you played it. Maybe you should stop smoking weed.

Its most likely the same broom named "Nimbus 2000" series used in quidditch from harry potter volume that gave developers the idea and also the name. Its more like a small broom, only not like broom but just a jetpack enabled cute thing that we need to land right through a racing track to proceed to next stage. As far as the game is concerned, seriously, this is one of the hardest one I played. Not only it is quite daunting and sometimes irritating to maneuver that jetpack, it immediately loses power after few seconds of flying across, you need to use environment like cannon, spring mats etc. to refuel the "Whatever nimbus thing we control in the game". Some levels are incredibly difficult and playing on the hard setting in the hope of reaching completion, that seriously requires some super gaming powers but those levels are next to impossible to get done. Another thing that adds to the game difficulty, Left arrow moves nimbus towards right, right arrow towards left, up arrow to down and down arrow to up, and you have to re-wire your brain to think and apply illogically just to get that satisfaction of moving across worlds. Otherwise, anyone could easily give up. Seriously, it requires some world-war 2 veteran war-fighter level skills for this game and don't dare to fall for its cuteness, its hard.

Truly an amazing game. It is extremely fun and addicting. The game seems simple at first but with every added obstacle the ame become more and more complex. The satisfaction of completing a level you first thought impossible is amazing. I highly reccomend this game to anyone who enjoys this genre of games.

Nimbus is a lot of fun and very pretty, and it's basically just as challenging as you want it to be. There are a lot of optional levels, you can configure how you want the checkpoints to work, and your time records don't unlock any content or anything so it doesn't matter if you don't care about trying to accomplish them. However... If you _are_ interested in time records, be aware that Nimbus has one enormous bug: it bases its records on how much time elapses in the real world between the beginning and the end of the level, rather than how many game ticks pass in that time. So depending on how powerful your computer is, falling through the same vertical space without pressing any keys may take you anywhere from 4 seconds to 30 or more. Lowering your resolution and turning off graphical effects can help with this on some of the levels, but these are not adjustments you should be forced to make to fix a gameplay issue.
