This is a quality VR game made for multi headsets but works rather well for vive. It says controller support but you can use the vive controller as well. Graphics are excellent, cards are readable, the gameplay is simple to hard depending how choose your cards. You can spend hours and hours playing and learning. THis is definetly not a 2 hour game! You can have lots of fun with a buddy or 4 buddies who own the game.

Ascenscion is a great card game, and this is well done adaptation. The atmosphere is beautiful, however I'd love to be able to choose different scenery; that would be a major plus.
Also, scaling the maximum number of Honor Points per game (depending on the number of expansions chosen) would be great - I think it caps at 60 right now even with multiple decks, but even so, the games are not short by any means, so that's not a negative. All in all, I was so glad to see Ascension on the iPad way back when, and having it on VR is that much better. Looking forward to how this progresses.

Overall it isn't bad. If you like Acension, you will like this game.
Only problem is, Acension is the kind of game where it doesn't really matter what your opponent does. It is a more of a race to the finish line.
Once you realize this, you switch the game speed to instant, and it is like VR solitaire.

I've not played much yet. It looks good in principle, but there is one big disappointment: the VR is wasted.
I was hoping for something in the style of the Card Wars episode of Adventure Time. That would have been really cool, to see some sort of environment affected by the cards, and the creatures battling each other. This though is just a very simple adaptation of a card game to VR. It's not a bad thing, but it seems to waste the potential, it could be much cooler than it currently is.

Liiike, i think Ascension is a really cool game and everything... but why is this VR?
Not sure if that really adds anything.
That being said, the game is super solid and fun. Just needs another expansion or three for a deeper card pool to take off.
I'll give a thumbs up for the core game itself, but don't get it if you already have another version of the game. The VR upgrade is not significant to spend the money on the same game again.

This was a tough one for me but in the end I can't fully recommend this game.
Pros:
- Card game in VR
Cons:
- Only one environment
- Little to no replayability after a few games
- Dead multiplayer
- The VR aspect doesn't add much to just playing normally
This game was fun for the first few rounds I played and I even ran into 1 or 2 people in multiplayer. There's no one else that plays and after playing against the computer it really lost its appeal. Sure you can select cards in VR but there's no unique animations or anything else that really adds to the VR experience, it's just a bunch of cards held up in front of your face. There's nothing to unlock and if your game goes on long enough you'll start seeing the same cards over.
If there was more of a point to the game such as additional environments, cards to unlock, game variants, high scores, etc. I wouldn't even mind not having multiplayer. There's nothing to unlock and only computers to play against.

Terrible. Even simple rules like "You may discard a card in your hand or discard pile" forces you to discard TWO cards.

+ Fun Deck Builder Card Game
+ Multiplayer
+ Not too pricey compared to the actual card game IRL
- It's a card game in VR. Might as well just play Table Top Simulator.
- Not much to do.
- No one in multiplayer to play with
2/5
Not enough people to play against, AI are terrible and predictable, and not really enough in game to recommend. Maybe if it was cross platform like the PC version, but not recommendable like this. It's also missing most of the expansions.

VR is offering a new perspective on card and strategy games. I'm quite fond of having a unique "doll house" or all powerful overseer view of a game. It's immersive and adds a level of charm and fun that standard gaming doesn't come close to providing.
Ascension VR is another attempt at the deck building, card slinging genre for VR. It claims it's the first, and has an expansion already.
However, with all the possibility and potential of VR, this game offers nothing but a deck of cards floating in your face. There's a very nice looking and colorful environment that surrounds you as you play, but this is the extent of the VR experience. While other card games are treating the player with life size ogres and summoned creatures, that make you feel like you're part of the battle, Ascension offers nothing but icons and card images. What's worse, the cards actually obfuscate the view of your opponent. There are even depth issues where cards meld through one another, causing a momentary visual disturbance.
Is the card game itself fun? Not really. If I wanted to play a card game that aspired to be nothing more than being a card game, I'd play it without the VR headset.
Pros:
Nice VR environment
Cons:
Nothing here but a UI in front of your face. Go outside, hold up a deck of cards so your vision is blocked, and you've recreated the bulk of the game.

Ascension is one of my favorite card games, and this is a good adaption of that to the virtual world. However, I have two main problems with this version. Firstly, the lack of online players, which I hope changes as the game evolves, but right now it is really hard to find a match. Secondly, the biggest issue is the lack of cards. There are only 52 cards at the moment and none of the expansion packs, which I can see getting dull rather quick. I assume these will be added in patches though as well as virtual currency as there is a greyed out shop panel, but once this game gets enough cards, I can see it being great fun. I'm still giving this a thumbs up review as I want more people to play with, but do keep in mind the content is pretty limited right now.
