i havent played very much yet but this is a VERY interesting take on both the match 3 game and the rogue like. a bit spendy but im feeling like i could drop some good hours into this so probably worth it.

Another day another negative review. At least I was able to play over half an hour before rendering my verdict. And this is another game imo that the creators didn't know how to bundle gameplay with pricepoint. This gaem is $13 when NOT on sale. Plus this is a roguelite, a very boring roguelite as well.
Meanwhile both I am Overburdened falls in the same genre and is generally more addicting. And it is more cheaply priced. And a favorite story of mine, the Tenth Line is only $10, and is on sale right now for $5! Both of these games have far more interesting mechanics, and longevity despite being cheaper! This game REALLY needs a permanent price drop to around $4.

For people who are interested in puzzle RPGs this one is elegant and original. Each turn you select a monster and kill all the contiguous monsters. The damage you take is based on the creature type, but not how many you kill. Your reward is based on the number you kill. This drives you to select large groups - but the special abilities on the monsters and that you have often make simply finding the largest group a bad strategy.
There are lots of items giving special abiilities and characters. The monster abilities make each one feel different, not just bigger numbers.

The game is very good, and it has a high replay value, with many characters and possibilities for enemy combinations.
Some achievements have bugs and are impossible to get, though, and the game could benefit from a better ballancing on the late game.
Still, love to play it every now and then.

Very RNG dependent, custom difficulty modifies, 10 lvls, not enough to scratch the itch for its price.

Very well crafted little game that achieves to blend fluidly RPG, puzzle and roguelike styles.
The rules are simple to understand but the game gives you a good challenge and, thanks to a deep enough bestiary, shows enough diversity to give each game a different texture. The classes of heroes are interesting and, appart for the adventurer and the thief, are all playable.
The only aspet of the game that seems a little bit less polished is the item design. Some are overpowered (the armor) while others (the sandals) are utherly useless. But that is a small downside for an otherwise really good game.
Worth the bucks even if it might look a bit expansive. For those who like oldschool games, you should give it a try !

mildly addicting, but frustrating. virtually no "obvious" or "tutorial-like" explanation in-game of different roles, abilities, etc. - the game is purely "wing it" in nature which isn't always great if the background aspects (i.e. settings, difficulty, etc) are not explained well or at all within the game itself. The design doesn't really consider audience, feels more experimental in nature as a whole but I'm okay with that - not thrilled - but okay with it.
Love the art, RPG aesthetic, and the concept is unique as far as I've seen. I enjoyed playing it and trying different techniques to get further in the game. I think the music and sound effects are fun too. It's very nostalgic of NES/Genesis era fantasy games. I love a good puzzle, and this game absolutely gets my brain going. Again, the concept alone was enough to get my attention even years after its release.
Sadly, to me, not entirely worth the price tag when weighing out the good and the bad. It has high replay value, but wait for a sale on this one - otherwise worth playing if you like RPGs, roguelikes, and puzzle games.

This is a charming, thoughtful and difficult matching game. The levelling and progression mechanics add choices to each run and there is a tension between playing optimally and going for more levels... which in the end might harm you as levelling up is a key source of healing. I also love the graphic and sound.

I wish this game had Steam Achievements, or music, or a tutorial, or anything besides the bare minimum esp. since it never goes on sale (unless you count the transitional period in which the retail price increased).
This game's just a cashgrab.

This is a good little puzzle roguelike. The pixel graphics are awesome, and I had a lot of fun discovering the rules and strategies, and eventually figuring out how to beat the game (for the record, 27 points on difficulty 0). The game design is creative and pretty neat, frequently lending itself to interesting tactical situations. (Unlike most "match 3"-type games, this one is mostly deterministic, so it's fruitful to think ahead and play close to the edge.) On the other hand, I found that some characters and items are so vastly more useful than others that I always preferred them, and some monsters were so overpowered that rolling them basically ended the run for me. I think Benjamin has excellent design sense, so there's a decent chance I just failed to figure out how to use these items/abilities properly.
The game has a built-in achievement system; it would've been nice if they were Steam achievements!
