A very good game! Though not as good as it's sequel. Its hard to come back to this one after experiencing it's sequel and how much it was kicked up. I still recommend it, if not just to catch up on the story for the second game.

WWBD? Turns out it's not always what you think (or want).
This one just isn't on the level of the best Telltale games. It feels more on-rails throughout, most of the choices aren't compelling, and by the midpoint, the clunky storyline has become thoroughly nonsensical even by comic book standards. By Episode 4, I was just ready for it to be over.
If you're looking for a game that lets you roleplay Batman in a satisfying manner, this isn't it.

Playing this with a friend, the game's kinda nice.
Now honestly, this game is to me more of a Batman "Cartoon" rather than a game, yes, you can make choices and there are on-rails game mechanics, but really there isn't an ending where you lose, it's a really casual game.
honestly, the story, the cinematography, the voice acting are frankly amazing.
I admit seeing a more casual Bruce Wayne is really interesting, Catwoman/Selina's character is probably my favourite character in the game, this is probably one of the best adaptation of her.
Cobblepot/Penguin is a really good antagonist,
I'm not really sure what to think of the twist with Lady Arkham to be honest and personally I feel Harvey Dent's mental breakdown really ehh, like it could have been because of a more serious reason, but in this game it's because Bruce slept with his crush lol.
I'm currently playing on Classic mode, I honestly haven't tried Shadow Mode yet, but it doesn't seem worth it if it's just a black & white version of the original.
Also I'm playing it through Proton on Linux and it runs perfectly, plus the game is rather well-optimized.

- I find this unique take on Batman lore to be pretty good.
- Satisfying, story-driven gameplay but feels like something missing
-Most of the negative reviews are from people who don't play telltale games and just wanted something to fill the void from the Arkham franchise, just know, this is NOT a game like that

The most interesting thing about this title is that it might be the first "Bruce Wayne" game, at least it's the first one I've ever encountered. You'll likely spend at least as much time as Wayne as you will behind the iconic cowl in this title, which allows for some interesting storytelling.
Otherwise this is the standard "Choose Your Own Adventure" book type game that Telltale became famous for. Most of the decisions you make will be in the form of time-sensitive dialog choices. The game giving you a few seconds to decide whether you want your Bruce/Batman to be more noble and empathetic, brutal and brooding or somewhere in-between. This and a handful of slightly more major decisions will determine how much various characters like you and in what order certain plot events will play out. The destination is mostly preordained but the journey will vary based on your choices.
This is NOT an action game, the mechanics for action scenes show them as mostly an afterthought. Consisting of simple quick-time events, the price for failure being an immediate reload to right before you died.
Pros:
-Excellent voice acting really helps the game feel immersive.
-Good artwork
-A nice Batman story to experience with some interesting new takes on familiar characters.
Cons:
-Gameplay mechanics are pretty stale, betraying the diminishing returns of the "one size fits all" approach to storytelling that ultimately destroyed Telltale games.
-It feels like there's less ways to meaningfully change the story outside of how characters react to you than in "The Wolf Among Us" which is the only other Telltale game I've played. While that game was also based on a DC comic, I imagine the writers on this title had their hands tied by Warner Brothers licensing more in regards to what characters could do and how they could be depicted.
-If you're looking for an action adventure game rather than a character driven story like you might see in a TV show or movie (or the more modern Batman comics) you will most likely hate this. I would recommend sticking to the excellent Arkham Batman series of games instead.
