There are very serious glitches in the game making it so the words and choices are completely not visible. I cant play and that is upsetting to me.

These days it feels like we are in a time where games fight for your screen time by means of weekly grinds and missable rewards. The games need to be everlasting and so do the slow paced stories. WIth that in mind it's pretty nice to go back to a classic game like this, and doing so after last playing ~7+ years ago certainly gets me thinking about that comparison. With this you get a game with a story that has plenty humorous moments (though mind that this is a 2006 game) but also has the occasional serious moment, the SRPG gameplay may not be the most tactical but offers plenty freedom in building up your party (Nothing stopping you from building a party of moths or making your mages martial artists, efficiency aside) and while the terrain is not much to write home about the work put into the character sprites is pretty good. (And don't worry, you can turn off the blurry character filter!) And then when you finish the story... what now? Well here's a postgame that'll easily burn hundreds of hours if you allow it, with plenty enough stuff to do to either power up your party or do the former more efficiently (it doesn't just stop with reaching level 9999!), and plenty bosses along the way to act as goalposts to justify your grind. It's also one of those cases where you can really watch numbers go up- especially when you upgrade a piece of equipment and toss it onto your well trained unit(s). As far as modern releases go in this franchise, while missing out on modern QoLs that you'll see in newer games still is a significant upgrade over the first game in everything but D1's memorable story/characters, and is not a bad starting point (especially if you're in the mood for something from the 2000s PS2 era, I like the 'SD sprite' style over the HD/3D styles from later games anyway). For the occasional mood to unwind with a game that offers you hours of grinding rather than demanding you to do it today and again next week, this is certainly a good way to feed that. It's like working on a bit of a project [strike]while you're procrastinating your actual projects and tasks[/strike].
