Playin’ it since i was 9, now i’m 30. I think i will never stop.

THE classic 4x strategy game. Way ahead of its time in cinematic, graphics, and design of the interface. The game just feels so good to play. The campaigns are where it really shines. Map is randomly generated. Events periodically occur, also partially random. This makes for a unique experience every time. I've played this game over and over, both in the past and recently and it always feels fresh. Space battles look and feel incredible. Ground battles are less good but still fun. Colony management is interesting and you can be as involved as you want to be with it or just set them all to autobuild if you find the process tedious, which is a perfectly adequate way to play. Diplomacy is kinda meh but once you figure out how it works you can definitely work the system. Many espionage options in the game. You can easily go through an entire campaign without using any one element. This allows you to al la carte build your own path to victory and gives a lot in variety in how any given situation can be approached. So much replayability just from that alone. Brought to you by a talented Hungarian developer team, this game still holds up today and I highly recommend checking it out, as a fan of the genre or even a total newbie. I will say Hard difficulty is not balanced very well and you are pretty much required to play in a way that conquers the map well before the story events play out. If it's your first playthrough, definitely play normal or easy so you can really enjoy this gem of a game. Music is so good, really gets the vibe going.

This is just a fun beat the clock get better at processes and research. Hard is really hard to beat easy is really easy to beat but will give you a good idea of how the game is played. Normal will take you a while to beat but there are ways to beat it.

I played this game years ago and thought strategy games were great. I do not understand why the save game option is not working? Why download it if you can not save off a game?

I have played the original version of this game from the day it came out and someone has made a mess of it. on the normal humans merchants/freighters disappear after you have 3 or so planets they very rarely show up I build many trade ports and trade centers buildings. And then I researched three weapons in the tech tree and the whole weapon tech tree disappears all of it. On normal this game is Super! Aggressive!! With all the problems it is not playable on normal. There is not a bug button to send in issues none! So I am posting this in hopes that someone somewhere might know what to do with these issues. Until then I think I will try and load My old copy of the game.
