They have great starting characters, battles were smooth, but the lack of content was obvious after playing through the first 5 battles.

Unforgiving Trials is a fun little old school RPG. The story is fairly simple, you recruit your fighters in an inn and march across the world to rid the land of corruption and evil. While the game is a bit linear, it offers a lot of choice in designing your party which I liked a lot. Some of the boss encounters might seem a bit difficult at first but if you make a strong team and prepare properly, you shouldn't have too much trouble. Also, dog and chicken are hilarious. Overall, I consider this game a good purchase, especially for such a low price.

I actually wanted to write a positive review for this game since it felt a little like this game was going for a reverse difficulty curve. Because in all honesty if you manage to beat the first 3 bosses I'd say especially if you grab 2 or all 3 of the secret characters you will be pretty good for a good portion of the rest of the game.
However I got to a boss called I believe it was called the Hell Fiend. When it gets low on health it starts spamming meteor. At this point the fight goes from doable, to brutal VERY FAST. Most low hp characters will auto-die from the attack, and the others will be left with very low health. It took forever to get to this point and I'm not starting anther playthrough. SO AVOID THIS GAME

I think this kind of RPG is not for me... So boring.
But still, give a like because the is some little effort to make the battle more fun, even if that does not work for me.

I bought this game hungry for some old school JRPG-s. It started good, there is a good variance between difrent charcters and i liked skill system and secrets. In a while some may find game maybe too linear, because it is composed mostly like this: battle zone-safe zone etc. But it is fun because you can play one stage, save and continue later without the sense off missing something out.
All in all, I recommed this game to anyone who wants to play a casual JRPG- battle oriented game.

Requesting a refund, there are no enemy details btw, so you have no idea what you are fighting. Do not buy.

Nope. The difficulty is just in the numbers. Frustration for its own sake doesn't make for engaging gameplay. Stay away from this one.

As for the gameplay, it is pretty much grind from here on out. You are auto-assigned to the next battle after the next

With no irony this is a great game! Loved the adventure; harsh battles were like puzzles. The idea that you need to constantly go in one direction to meet your goal is great!
P.S. I finished the game around 14h. My party was: Chaos Knight, Wizard, Blood Mage, Bishop.
