just disappointing it's so close to brilliant beautiful nothing... This game is borderline brilliant. It's like someone made 85% of a masterpiece, and then stopped. Thumbs down because of a few major issues that take it from being one of the greatest games I've ever seen all the way down to just not being worth $3.99, unfortunately. First of all, the art is great (although you'll see the same handful of characters over and over), the gameplay idea is good, and the actual gameplay of turn-based sword fighting is well done. The problems include a complete lack of balance. Pretty early on (think less than half through the game) you will get to a point where you just one-shot every enemy before they can even act. This includes bosses, and the final boss. From mid-game on there is just no reason to play other than to see what happens (it's not a ton, just FYI). Not only are the fights meaningless for most of the game, but you also see the same random events over, and over... and over. I think I killed the same escaping criminal 5 times, heard the same old man story from 4 different old guys, same lady ghost on a bridge 3 times, same couple on a bridge 3 times, etc. This is in one play through. I completed the master sword thing, ran into another of the blacksmiths and asked for a sword and he gave me the same sword to upgrade again, and on and on. There are items and special swords to take from the masters and such, but there is nowhere to sell them (the merchants don't have the money to buy most of your loot), and there is nothing meaningful to buy anyway. I was just donating hundreds at temples and buying most expensive foods and geisha because, why not? You one-shot every enemy, so there is no need for healing or anything. Anyway, it's $3.99 so it's tough to go wrong if you want to check out the well done sword fighting and the art and such, but after you "get" it, just know that the game itself isn't very good (and it could have been great).

This game will inspire you to read hagakure, master the ability to put on traditional clothing, buy a certified authentically folded steel katana and attack the US Army military base. Made with RenPy (how? foul sorcery), it features anime girls and extensive character interaction and a unique dialogue system that allows you to slay every NPC for no reason and without repercussion, almost like the secret service of some country east of italy that has also organized the . Combat is rather basic but very funny and magnanimous in terms of handing out one shots by the weakest, crummiest peasant NPCs possible, fueling the permadeath roguelite aspect. In addition there is some semblance of character progression and leveling. Unsurprisingly, this game has some incredibly tone deaf jokes and gross misinterpretation of the haiku culture, a natural source of joy to every true filthy gaijin. Recommended to everyone who has a humble stipend of 100 yen.
