Basically remake of Star Realms with a new settings.
Gameplay is the same.
Even cards are almost the same.
Nice pictures and graphics, but...
Difficult to play. Get tired of these animations pretty soon.
Basically, I don't want to have these zoom in/zoom out animations just to look at some details on cards (and I have to zoom in because it is difficult to view card details).
Couldn't find easy way to attack opponent (with something like double click) - don't want to zoom in opponent to attack him.
Terminology is also a bit confusing: conjure power, sanity. And most important - key things on cards almost not visible on these colored cards.
These items don't have any kind of solid background. So, I have to spent quite some time to understand what card is doing, instead of plaing game.
Symbols also not really well developed. +health and -health look the same - same picture of head with brain, but font color is different. Nah, in star realms this idea of having three sections (on play, on ally play, on scrap) is better.
Small symbols in bottom right corner of some symbol - just kill me, how can I see it without zoom?..
Also in Star Realms three main items are made in different colors - money is yellow, attack is red, +health is green. And I even don't care how they are really called, I can call them gold-attack-health and play the game. And I easily understand what symbol does what.
Conclusion:
Star Realms is a great game with nice concept and great gameplay.
Cthulhu Realms is just a clone of Star Realms (with some minor changes).
Developers decided to create game with beautiful picture, but forgot about "usability".
Sad.
Will continue play Star Realms

Based on the board game of the same name, you play your cards and try to reduce the sanity of your opponent to zero. The game play is quick and easy. Like games this there is an element of randomness that each game brings, so the cards can be kind or cruel. The hard AI is a serious challenge but can be beaten. The graphics are what you expect for this price range and type. The board game is more expensive but if you are like me and just want a quick game you can be on and off in 10 minutes. I have not tried the online play yet, but since I really did not buy it for that purpose it is not a worry. For a few dollars I can invest in some digital play before I spend the 25-30$ CAD price to buy the physical copy. Which I am going to more than likely do for game nights with my wife. I think she would get a bigger kick out of this than Star Realms.
8/10 Good value for the dollar if you are a board gamer

Very similar card game to Star Realms. The PC implementation this time though is nice animated, has a great voice over and features a campaign with differing rules between games. Lots of fun in small doses. Definitely recommend the card game instead of the digital version though.

This is an excellent game, and it's true to the board game. Reaching all three symbols in each mission is very challenging.
If you're tired of playing Star Realms, try Cthulhu Realms. It's different enough yet familiar enough.

Love the theme. Good mechanics. A bit minimal on text, so it may take a while to learn the symbols if you're new the game.

Really fun and addictive. Only the backround animation seems a bit hard on the memory.

Unfortuately, there isn't a neutral option.
The game is pretty fun, once you figure out the mechanics. but absolutely zero effort was put into campaign mode. You get 8 lousy scenarios, and for an extra $5, you can get the "full" game with 8 more for a total of 16. That's it. You also have the option of replaying them in hard mode, or playing the AI on Easy or Hard mode in a straight up battle with no modifiers. Whee.
Even if they didn't bother to throw in different cards, there should have been at least 3 to 4 times as many scenarios, with at least a few changes in level-specific modifiers to spice things up. One modifier in the game prevents you for buying purple cards, another makes Initiates cheaper for everyone, or the AI gets all card prefilled prerequisites. All this code is already in place, the only thing they would have needed to do is switch it around every few levels. It wouldn't have been that difficult to make the game significantly longer. As it it, it feels unfinished, and nowhere near worth the price they're asking.
If you can get the Full game (with the expansion) for under $5, go for it, but as it stands, this game feels like they got it to the point where it was working physically, but forgot to go back in and add any actual content.

Save your money. Save your time. While I loved this game, the STEAM version just DOES NOT WORK online. You can have an experience playing against IA, but forget about challenging a mate, forget about challenging people online. Yeah, even if you paid for that.
Interface gives headaches, with constanty moving in and out from the cards. There's no alert when (if ever...) a game starts, if you manage to start a game it will disconnect a dozen times in a round.
I don't blame the obviously underpaid developers here. But honesty, these mistakes are expected from newbies.

Description does not state that you need to create a special account for the game. No mention that it maxes at 2-players.

Cthulu Realms is entertaining and a creative modification of the Star Realms base. I think i still prefer the simplicity of Star Realms over CR but very much enjoy both.
