You have to make an EA Account and login to play at all. No offline mode with optional online login. The 'Skirmish' mode you can't turn off the time limit or adjust things as freely in the options. They basically turned it into some mishmatch of Mechwarrior Online or CoD but in C&C where you unlock things and have a profile that has performance history. I don't like it. And i had to go through trouble to play it since it wouldn't run without a specific dot net runtime. on top of that, asides from my personal opinion of the game itself, this also is another negative for EA, who won't even let me login with my own password to change my email and they want bank info that i dont have to change the old email.. it's trash. straight burning garbage of trash. i hope their company collapses in 2025 so i can dance on the grave of it's failures.

Steam made me aware of games workshop for the C&C titles. However once again made it damn near impossible to make clear for the un-initiated people for a steady understanding. C&C 4 is the only title i never managed to play or complete due to their poor attempt at co-op style play. without an actual Games workshop through steam i guess this title goes back to gathering dust in my library. Another E.A FLOP thx guys

this game, is like Peak EA game breaking. its not fun, its dull, and plays like a badly designed mobile game. ...and then it crashes.

First need to sign into EA launcher before the game launches, then need to sign into the EA account again when in the game. Game play is not like any other C&C game.

This is one of the worst games I've ever played. The gameplay is awful, and EA is on some high-test crack if they think I'm going to sign in - TWICE - every time I want to play. Uninstalled.

How do you get everything so wrong?! Functionally, you have to mess around to get the game to work. Story wise it is drab and may as well be a radio play for the boring indoor visuals. Game play wise you can't get to the end of the tech tree just playing the campaign. Strategy wise - you can just play everything with the same strategy and units and there's never the time to develop a more nuanced build. Positives: Doesn't have loot boxes or endless daily quests...

Played the first C&C in 95 and that got me into gaming. What a terrible way to end. They could have gone out with a bang, but instead went out with a whimper. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

This game likely wouldn’t have received so much hate if the developers hadn’t included the "4" in the title. It should have been treated as a spin-off rather than a direct continuation of the series. I won’t lie, I actually like the gameplay concept. It’s fun and less stressful, which is about the only thing I genuinely enjoy about this game. What Doesn’t Work for Me? 1. Cringeworthy Storyline The storyline is painfully awkward. Was it really necessary to add a romance subplot? Every time I see a cutscene where the commander (player) interacts with his wife, I cringe. The worst moment comes at the end of the NOD campaign when she cries over her hubby's death. It just feels so forced and unnatural. 2. Disappointing Music The soundtrack is a letdown. The GDI music is passable, but the NOD tracks completely miss the mark. Instead of capturing NOD’s signature dark and intense vibe, it sounds more like tribal chanting from some random village in Kuvukiland. 3. Strange Unit Scaling The proportions of some units are way off. Certain vehicles are unnecessarily large.. take The Forgotten's "school bus" for example. It’s somehow the same size as a Mammoth Tank, which is just ridiculous. 4. Weak Sound Design The weapon sounds are underwhelming. Guns, cannons, rockets—none of them have the impact they should. Even the legendary Obelisk of Light no longer gives off that powerful "ZWEEENG" sound. And the rocket visuals? They're so tiny, they look more like fireworks than deadly projectiles. At the end of the day, I know I’m wasting time reviewing a 15-year-old game that will never get updated. But still, what a missed opportunity.
