The Space Marines quickly became my primary fleet. They're all about speed, boarding power & crits. The higher level ships have some impressive fire power, but the light cruisers can't handle even small ships & have to rely on their speed. Their boarding can disable components & they have the highest chances of breaking things. It's great to watch an Ork ship crippled & burning to death.

Pretty entertaining on my first day boarding everything in sight. Strike Cruisers might be fragile but they shred, and while you can't fighter your thunderhawks, you can still get fighter cap. As a side note, wouldn't mind seeing an army editor (for colour schemes) as in DoW, would be a nice touch

The Space Marines DLC for Battlefleet Gothic Armada adds the Space Marines into the game. 5 Chapters are available to you. Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Ultramarines, Space Wolves and the Imperial Fists. The ships look good, the abilities are good, the voice acting is good. +Cool ships. +Good voice acting. +Alright abilities. -No campaing. But that doesn't matter. The main campaing in the game wouldn't work for me anyways. Why would i play a DLC campaing when the main campaing doesn't fucking work ? If you own the game then yeah sure you could buy this in a discount.

To the authors: Most of us...well, some of us, do know how hard is to come up with good idea and balance it well in already launched game. So thumbs up for completely different playstyle for Astartes fleet. Yet...you got VERY RARE chance - to work on game from Warhammer universe...and as much as i like astartes and their model in here (first day - didnt get to the bc equivalent yet, so MAYBE theres surprise somewhere in which case i can change my opinion)...what is THIS? Trailer "promised" new campaign (not exactly, but looked very much like that). Disappointment, but only small - YOU didnt promise it. But you say 5!!! chapters of astartes...and I cant find ANY difference between them. Hell, you even blew the lore with favors - I am not sure, as my lore knowledge isnt perfect by no means, but not all chapters have librarians, and definitively lots of them have different names (also prestige, rank etc)...so having Chief Librarian as favor for Space Wolves, is really....weird. For your own (and games) sakes....dont try to beat the dead donkey in hope he might drop one more coin. These details MAKE warhammer universe what it is! And the donkey is far from death! Just go back to details, dont promise what you dont have and donkey is gonna drop much more! ------------- Pros: Adeptus Astartes! (no need to say more) New and very special tactic/ gameplay. New ships (reserved whine in case battle barges are as fragile as strike cruisers...coz most of the old battle barges are equal to the oldest and heaviest battleships in durability - i dont know yet - SC and LC are hell of a (very fragile) fun, when you meet an orc (and decide to go "release the Kra....assault teams" instead of long range assault boat attacks). ------------- Cons: Thunderhawks dont have option to work as fighters (which they should according to lore) - so no "hawk wall" against torpedoes and enemy ships (big fail imho). Should have been done with low chance against enemy fighters, but great chance against everything else. - Copy paste chapters (completely as far as i got today - including favors, which sux big time too). Chapters should be as different from each other as possible (main chapters), with different ship customizations/ weaponry/ tactic... . For example id expect more launch bays for Space Wolves ships (as they like to go close and personal) for less weapons, while iron fists would be snipers and dark angels full of bombardment cannons....etc - lots of options, while the worst one was taken. Copy paste for those original chapters was really bad idea, while promising 5 chapters in this situation was even worse. - Only 4 favors for whole fleet? (description says every favor can be used only once in fleet) - I hope this is some kind of mistake, as 2 of these favors really arent stronger, than other factions have - with remaining two im not sure yet, but they sure as hell aint game-winning alone. - Lore fail - as written above, some chapters dont have librarians (imho, not 100% sure) and lots of chapters dont call them librarians/ chief librarian (this hurts, as lore is more important here in Warhammer, than in any other fantasy/ sci-fi world i can think of). Same goes for chapter master, champion....EVERYTHING! Cant go universal with x astartes chapters! ------------------------------------ Result: Im not sure if it deserves thumb up or down. Everyone who likes the game will enjoy it few (few dozen) more hours in mp/ sp, but lore fanatics wont be fully satisfied (and not small group will be pretty angry). I simply expected more, since authors were saying what an honor is to get the chance to work with WH universe in game industry. This treatment would be enough for me in TAU DLC, or other DLCs (since their fangroup is much smaller, than astartes have, and lore about them is much smaller than on astartes). You simply cant go copy paste average for something like Adeptus Astartes!! Price is high for this package, but not unreasonably high... . I decided for thumbs down for the last con I see...we STILL cant change portraits of ship captains, so with some bad luck youll end up with same portraits for 3 of 5 ships. And for the chance, that some devs will read it. Still, if you like this game, buy it - it will return the fun for the money (face it, you spend more in the pub during one evening), just dont go lore-freak, or youll just get angry for no good reason. Myself I got it free for preorder, but i would buy it if i didnt...even after reading this. // Edited.

Amazing game! Ive always wanted a game like this that lets you build your fleet in detail, and really get down to business with micromanaging your fleet, as well as allowing you to macro without loss to either. It really reminds me of Enders Game in regards with how you command your ships, but it helps that its my favorite book. And the fact that this is hopefully the start of a new generation of GOOD warhammer games is wonderful! Awesome game, 10/10 would recommend to any RTS fan!

CRUISERS?? CRUISERS!!!! OUR ENEMY HIDES IN METHAL BOATS!! THE COWARDS!! THE FOOLS!! We should take away... their methal boats... PS: I WANT A SQUAT FLEET!!! SQUATS FOREVAH!! <3 --- Still needs a bit of upgrades. For example, the transportships are the same of the Imperial Navy, and some portraits look the same as in the Imperial Navy. But those are just details. This DLC is awesome (even if it is just for skirmish and multiplayer), can't wait for the Tau fleet, and let's hope for a new campaign about the Damocles Crusade for that other DLC. Should you buy this? Well, you should have bought it when it was in the Beta, it would have cost you 35€ instead of 40€ plus 10€ for each DLC. And yes, the Beta was awesome, even if you were there just to play skirmish. But let's go to the important thing: this fleet feels pretty unique, even more considering the aesthetic changes depending on the space marine chapter you choose. It is a big and awesome addon to the base game. Greetings from Spain, space marines!!!
