This game is aaahh how do you say.... "We have amped at home". Honestly for a ubisoft game it is quite entertaining for a few hours. BUT i don't recommend this at full price. Definitely buy this on sale, because hell I don't even know if the servers are still up at the time of this review. However despite the level of bugs, and trust me there are going to be BUGS. It definitely is one of those games you can put on your favorite podcast to and just play for a couple of hours. I will say trying to join friends in this game is quite a slog, so be prepared for that.

games ok, the map/menu system is garbage and constantly makes me want to throw my control against the wall, but it is a 10 year old game tbf, and ubisoft has kind of always had garbage UI/UX. Every hard challenge is basically RNG to gold. Most of the Medium and up challenges on the Asia and Alaska maps are the same. The goal of the game is to get to level 25 so you unlock the helicopter, and you can get there just doing all the easy and medium challenges on the ALPS, after that everything is basically extra, but there's easy challenges on some maps that are harder than the hardest medium challenges on other maps. Once you get to level 25 it's really just more fun to do your own runs because all the other challenges are just frustrating. The mountains are really cool though and its fun just flying around or boarding down a mountain and running into random real people also just messing around. Games too expensive for a 10 year old game, and so much content is behind DLC and paywalls that are also too expensive for how old the game is. Get it on sale, and just get the base game, if you really want sleds or whatever get the DLC if there's a sale.

super fun riding all around the open world terrain is the best part for me and all the off the grid riding is what makes this so special, all the routes and places to jump just complete this game. For real love this game super fun and relaxing to play

I hate this company so much. I can't play the single player games that I buy from them. I'm just trying to play this game on Steam Deck. in the car. The whole reason I got a Deck. It wants me to login. It wants me to answer captcha tests over and over again. Even after I hotspot through my phone it's a giant sheeetshow. I give up. Do you morons have any idea how bothersome this process is on a handheld? Do you care? I hate you so much. Burn in hell. I hope Tencent rips you apart and lays everyone off.

Not saying you shouldn't play it, but hear me out first. First off my biggest problems with the game: - Horrible and soulless soundtrack. Put some SSX 3's EA Radio BIG on in the background and your experience goes from 7/10 to 9/10 with the wild moments you can pull of in this game. - Constant internet connection required. I hope Stop Destroying Videogames initiative goes through before Ubi cuts the head off from this one too. Go sign it. Now the positives: - Good controls and managing G-force in harder terrain requires practice which makes passing them even more satisfying. - Snowboarding is the jam of this game, it just works and feels good. - Lots of other sports you can do and with the DLC coming in cheap with the sale bundle there's no reason not to get the X Games Gold Edition. - Addicting gameplay loop and good amount of different kind of routes and mission types. I can recommend it for what it does and how it plays, one of the few rare good Ubi titles they put out gameplay wise. But I cannot say the same for soundtrack and need for an internet connection to play the game.

Steep is a good game, and at under 10 dollars for the X-Games Gold Edition, it is unquestionably well priced. Being the only half decent skiing game (excluding SNØ—a casual indie title, and GMA—a mobile game), it is of disproprtionate cultural significance. That is why it saddens me that this is a Ubisoft game which is clearly being left to rot. All the in-game purchase (yuck) pages take you to a screen that states the content is no longer available. The olympics DLC is gone. Every time you boot the game up, a prompt titled "NOW'S THE TIME TO GIVE IN!" appears telling you to switch to riders republic. At some point the servers will shut down, and everyone will be screwed because the game hardly works in offline mode. With that being said, its a good game

ever since the removal of the olympics, its just time trials. so for anyone who didnt buy the game before 2022.. you'll just be stuck playing against yourself
