I purchased the DLC during the Steam Sale, and yes, I got it because I wanted to check it out. The DLC took me longer to complete because I still had 2 items in my inventory and was missing something. I couldn't figure it out. I did look at a guide and noticed the bunny had a little floaty tube, which gave me a hint: YOU ARE MISSING SOMETHING STUPID! Hahaha... =.= Seriously? And everything I clicked was completed, everything I threw the items didn't work. Until finally. Geez game, thanks for providing such a subtle hint for that last piece! Other than my mistake, this was a very cute DLC and I enjoyed it very much! I would recommend it, but the color balls was frustrating.

Much like the original Hare in The Hat, Hare in The Hat: Abyss works under the same premise of rescuing the Hare from an evil wizard via solving a series of puzzles - in this case puzzles which happen to take place in the abyss of the ocean. However I found this DLC somewhat more challenging than the original game, especially in regards to one puzzle in particular (trust me, you'll know it when you see it) that took me at least forty or so minutes to solve and even that was ultimately more luck than skill. With the exception of that one puzzle, Hare in The Hat: Abyss was roughly the same length as the original game (about an hour), so still pretty short. Overall, I'd say that if you enjoyed the original game you'll probably enjoy the DLC as well.

If you didn`t like the first game, you won`t like the DLC either (uses the same 1-room principle). Only the puzzles are a more difficult (in my opinion). I enjoyed the first game and this one too.

It was going all nice and cool for a while, the amount of content is the same as in the main game, but for half of the price. Until you encounter hungarian rings. Which are yet anoyher sliding puzzle. But hungarian rings is a "nightmare" mode. Because it's one-dimensional puzzle. And this computer simulated one lacks tactile feedback of the real thing. And also is different from classic one, so existing solutions won't help (you need to recalculate everything and to do that you need to reverse engeneer the solution on math level). With balls which looks absolutely identical (and you don't have tactile feedback). With absolutely infuriating controls, which always do opposite of what you expect, no matter what you expect. It is just an autistic juggling of abstract concepts in your memory while making random mistakes every move and trying to adjust to them without losing track of where you was of whose balls you fondling to try to align all balls perfectly in your mouth on a plane of theological abstraction of what is live?

Just like the main game, but there were puzzles that were too difficult and the skip button didn't work for me (unless I held ALT, and that didn't work for certain puzzles)

C'mon guys. You put most of the achievements for the base game in this DLC and then didn't make the DLC available on MacOS like the base game was. Apparently the DLC has the harder puzzles and is the better part of this game... Why is it locked down to one OS?
Short version: 66%
Same length, somewhat more interesting puzzles, and half the price: if you had some fun with the base game, this DLC is worth its modest price.
Long version:
Albeit it is sold as a DLC, The Abyss can be considered the sequel to Hare in the Hat, as it has the same concept and the same length as the original. It is interesting why it wasn’t put up as a separate title on the Store, but it is hard to argue with the logic that if someone liked the original, they will very likely pay half the price for another scene. As for the content, nothing really changed: the game is still a single screen, where you hunt for a few items to unlock puzzles. The puzzles this time around have a wider range in difficulty, but in general they are more challenging than the originals. Still, unless you get really, really stuck on the two most evil puzzles, don’t expect more than another 30-60 minutes of play time from this one-dollar title.

When you add a algorithm-requared puzzle into a game, you ruin it to a people who don't know it. BTW, Hungarian rings have one of the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ algorithms IMO, but developer made it worse by changing the standard marbles count. This totally ruined game experience for me, because instead of funny logic puzzles I've got a 1,5 hour of learning, adapting and executing the algorithm and 20 minutes of finishing all other puzzles. I can't recommend it unless you a hardcore fan of Hungarian rings kind of puzzles. But then you should still look for other games, because other puzzles here were much more easy.

The Hare is now stuck in the depths of the sea! You have to free the poor animal. And for that, as in the magician's room, you will have to solve puzzles. As usual, you have to pray to stay calm because of the puzzles. Some of them are very easy: the shooting target, the memory one, even the final puzzle is easy compared to the three hard ones: the picture of the hare in a sailor outfit, the statuettes and my nightmare, that prompted me to finally skip a puzzle in this game, the Hungarian rings. It's very very frustrating when you don't manage to solve a puzzle despite understanding it and seeing more or less how to play it. But you can go ahead with trials and errors without problems, anyway, as most of them don't require a brain frying for overanalyzing. If you're used to Hare in the Hat, you will be satisfied with this DLC. And the developer did keep his promise to stop any ban when skipping a level. Now, only the achievement for the puzzle isn't unlocked and requires a second playthrough instead of being unable to unlock other achievements coming after. However, there is a little problem when using the skip (I've used it in my second playthrough to go faster to reach the game with Hungarian rings): if you're not doing properly after knowing the trick, you'll be directed again to the guide and you may be confronted to not being able to come back to the game, as the window will not display anymore the game. I had to close it or kill the process. As usual, the graphics are nice and very cartoonish, however, the flickering on the screen is still present, though I found it being less frequent than in the main story. I've also noticed that the clicking sound seems to be less annoying as I didn't turn off the sound for this DLC. Anyway, now, I'm letting days pass for the Hungarian rings, the time for someone to show a way to solve it or if I'm lucky enough, to see the solution if the puzzle isn't random. It's the sole puzzle I can't solve. And I've been frustrated enough by clicking the wrong arrows and making or the wrong ring to turn or the right ring to go in the wrong direction. I suspect that this difficulty to recognize the arrows is preventing me to solve it. In conclusion, buy this DLC if you like Hare in the Hat and if you really want to make sure that you're not going to be stuck with achievements because of a ban, though I suppose that now, the main game is also now allowing people to skip without an harsh punishment.

The Abyss DLC is just another scene with puzzles to solve to free the hare again. This time, the puzzles are easier but the Hungarian Rings puzzle definitely stands out. It was short and enjoyable. Recommended!
